Well, I finally found my way here! I miss my laptop.

I love this little place. I am having a wonderful time abs have met Terry's friends. All good people.

The drive was around 5 hours but with 2 talkers, it was fun. I finally calmed down after getting on the road. (What other choice did I have?) Heehee

Sunsets are beautiful anywhere but over water, it is magical to me.

I could not figure out posting a pic. I'll have to wait until I get home on my laptop because I'm in a stress-free mode.

This phone is doing weird things. I'll try again later.

Yesterday was darn near perfect. The weather was gorgeous. Spent the. biggest part of the day on his boat. He was a bit disappointed because the fish were not biting. Did not bother me at all. I drove the boat. Not very far and quite slow but it was like nothing I had ever experienced. Felt totally safe when he was driving.

Same here, Dale. Our temps are at 53, quite a difference from the blizzard last Friday

Pinto beans in the crockpot…..I have a lot of questions. But the most important one is were they dry at the start or were these commercially canned?

Tomorrow is Christmas with our families. We will stop at Dh’s mom’s first and then mine. After Christmas, NYE of course. My parents will come here for our usual celebration (early ball drop) and then it will just be us 3. So I’ve been working on getting the house picked up, decorating for NYE (for kiddo’s sake, not ours) I have another batch of choc chip cookies to make (to take to MIL’s) and my belated buckeye pie

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Good afternoon Dale, Sara and Lurkers

Not much going on here, not doing anything for ny’s eve too many drunks on the road.

Beans are dry before they are canned
:pervy::pervy::pervy: I have cans of beans and I have bags of dry

That’s why we celebrate early, my parents go home around 8 and are safe from the drunks. Then we usually watch pre countdown specials from the couch.

They were dry bagged beans, soaked overnight and slow cooked all day with ham drippings. Turned out good, I remembered to season

We haven’t celebrated New Year’s Eve in longer than I can remember. The last time I recall trying to stay awake was the year 2000.

    Good evening, Dale

If it were up to me, I’d be in bed early. But I remember being a kid and wanting to watch the ball drop. We do a fun activity on the hour and then do a faux ball drop at 8 with sparkling grape juice/cider.

We had stuffed chicken breasts with extra stuffing in the crockpot with mashed tates and steamed broccoli.

So I have dry beans…pinto, black, navy, northern. I specifically got the pinto to make my own Refried. If we want to use them…put them in a bowl and how much water? Enough to cover? You said you cooked all day in ham drippings. If I don’t have that can i use something else? Low/high for how many hours? Thanks :)

Plenty of water so they remain covered after swelling, don’t forget to rinse before cooking. A ham bone works good ... maybe bacon fat  , otherwise whatever seasoning you want. If your cooker only has low/high settings I’d use low for at least 8 hours, you can test a bean every so often to choose how soft you want them.
‘Not sure if you want bacon fat if you’re making refried beans , I don’t know anything about that.

    Your supper sounds good :)
