I just got home from my Friday night date. Ask me if I had a wonderful weekend.
It was a lovely weekend for me. He seemed happy to see me when I arrived unexpectedly Friday evening. Took me to dinner at the Moose Lodge. Lots more people were there on the weekends and had a wonderful time. We had such a good time, we went back Saturday. heehee
Sunday, he asked me to go to his company picnic at Jordan Lake (62 miles away). Big crowd of young people and I was the only female there (you gotta like that). heehee He had asked if he could bring a guest everyone was very nice to me.
There were only about 4 people there that spoke English so there was lots of Spanish. I know very little Spanish but communicated with smiles and gestures. They were interesting to watch. They played volleyball like they were playing soccer. Yes with their feet. They even asked if I wanted to play which I quickly thanked them and said no way.
They had regular grilled chicken and steaks and pork rolled up with bacon wrapped around it that was stuffed with cream cheese, onions, peppers, and pineapple. It was DELICIOUS. Also the rest of the cookout foods. They did not have any desserts though. Weird. Ken took a huge nectarine and sliced pieces for me so I would not get sticky. That earned a few points also.
I drove home because I had not had anything to drink. He was fine to drive but I was being cautious. I told you I have just started driving on highways and on the way back it started pouring rain. I was doing fine until he wanted to stop somewhere to use the restroom. I started almost freaking out when I could not listen to the GPS and was going by his instructions. I scared myself to death because I ran
through a red light for the first time in my life. I could have caused an accident but I swerved and just barely missed someone running into me. Thank goodness the lane beside me was clear. Someone was watching over me. I waited for Ken to start yelling at me like Dad would have done but he did not. He knew I was scared to death and upset. He smiled and said he did not have to go to the restroom anymore and said he could drive if I wanted him to.
I did let him drive and I was quiet on the rest of the way home. In fact, I hid tears looking out the side window. When we got home he sat me down and told me a story about something he did when he was driving a truck and how lucky he had been and the two people in the other car. He said that accidents happen and no one was hurt so I just needed to learn from it and let it go. He said that was the last he would speak of it and he hugged me. That made me a little weepy again but in a different way.
Every chance he got, he told people that I would not give him my phone number. It has turned into sort of a joke. When I left this morning, he said I could show up anytime at his door but he hoped it was before the weekend. He also said if he had my number he could call me so I would know he missed me and was thinking about me. I laugh and got in the truck and left smiling.
I think maybe Wednesday, I will text him so he has my number and maybe he will want to take me to the Moose Lodge again. The waitress said he ate there almost every night. I don't blame him because the food is reasonably priced and quite good.
That was my lovely weekend that y'all probably did not want to read about but I shared anyway because that is just what the Rat does.
