Brussel Sprouts were banned by the Geneva Convention, along with torture and chemical warfare... they forgot to include Broccoli.

Jack

Hope the authorities don't notice us for our "black market" veggies. We don't have time to do time. For years DD accused us of trying to starve her because of the lack of starchy veggies and a few others and only cheeses and fruit/veggies for snaking. (And way too many sprouts.) She developed a "taste" for them, though, and now is quite the lover of all most "interesting" foods. One of her kids loves everything. The other, high functioning Aspberger's, refused to eat anything green, and most veggies, from the time he started eating even strained baby food. He won't touch peas even; almost everyone will eat peas. It was quite challanging for them (and still is). She was very creative in getting nutrients into him. The freeze-dried thinly sliced, lightly salted veggies were a doGsend. He's 8 yr now and only eats about 10 foods. Glory be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a few weeks ago he finally tasted V-8 and loved it. It was such an event that her DH videod it and sent it to her at work. She promply sent video to DH and me. Kid was so excited!!!!!

We love broccoli. (But no one ever accused us of being normal.) It's one of our basic veggies, along with cauliflower and cabbage in any form just like potatoes are for so many people.

Hugs, Feisty Alice

Raw broccoli and cauliflower are my favorite way to eat them. We both love snacking on raw cabbage slices with a touch of salt. When DH was cooking so much he would do lightly cooked cabbage several times a week and always saved me out some for snacking. We still save some out, all three, uncooked, for snacking. Part of our snack tray for T-day is raw veggies and flavored yogurts for dipping. I picked up some organic celery hearts yesterday. After I handled them, washing, the sweet flavor hung on my hands for hours. We'll do pimiento cheese and fresh milled peanut butter on those. A couple of weeks ago DH did celery hearts and peanut butter for our game snacking. I hadn't had fresh celery hearts in a while. They were so sweet I thought the pb had sweetener in it. It wasn't; it was the celery hearts. This time I'm stripping off the strings as they are murder with my braces.

They are so different from mature celery. I can take or leave mature celery although I like the hint of flavor it gives in some dishes cooked. Most of celery hearts appeal is the sweet aroma.
