i think you'll find it hard to destroy a new 510 and i've never heard of anyone managing to do so. I've wrecked a few old ones, by either dropping the mod and it falling a la Murphy's Law, or just like that one where the nipple underneath wears out.

So... 15.5 hours for a sloth is, what, 40 miles?

I am staying at my dad's house in TN, there are dog urine stains on the tile floor surrounding my bed, as well as old dried dog poop, and, the dog is barking at me from upstairs. If this goes anything like last time, she will stop barking in approximately 3 hours. I have been awake for approaching 24 hours. Coffee, anyone? ...

Btw does everyone have clones or authentic? if I like it I'm not sure if I'd hunt down an authentic or just buy some more clones.

I have 3 authentic O16s. I don't have a clone, so I can't offer a comparison. I look on Vapinart every once in a while, to see if the authentics are back in stock. I'd get another, if they were. But so far, no go.

I have both.

And while I often get authentic stuff, for several reasons, in this case I can't tell you there is a dramatic difference you would notice in using the thing... Likely more consistency and excellence in machining - but the fact is that the O-little clones work pretty damned good.

I'd suggest getting the authentic for certain if the O-16 is the best atty you've ever used and is going to be your main, every day vape - then why NOT go for some slight additional quality? But if it's one of many you swap around (like me) or if it's just "OK" - then I couldn't advise spending that much more to get the original.

Hope that makes sense...

i'm quite the opposite and i use very few atties, just because of the way i like to vape and the fact that most don't suit my builds, but i also have a budget and i will not pay more than about $80 for an atty even if the Pope made it.

There is always an argument with using clones that you are depriving the designers of development money and that new atties will cease to be made. But there's not much evidence of that really is there?

The market is flooded with the things.

Having said that, i'll buy a clone first and if i want better machining, better screws, and i have some cash to spend -i'll get an authentic. BTW, it's only fairly recently that bottom-fed atties have become available at all and atties i liked had to be modified either by myself or someone with some skill at it like Catfish, which added to the cost.

I generally go with authentics where I can except for two cases: 1) extremely low availability, or 2) exorbitant prices. Some, like the M-Atty, constitute both.

I'll admit to chasing some through trades or 2nd hand sales even when clones are plentiful, but I won't play the "oooooh, it's soooo exclusive" hype game.

For me, it's a quality issue (although that's not the case so much these days - see chowder's narda and O-Atty clones), not really a 'money where money is due' thing.

As trunker points out, this choice we have today is a recent embarrassment of riches. Rob's clones (the mighty RM2 is a triangle clone) and catfish's modded hornets and cyclones were once the only options we had.
