We are still experiencing a bad taste rendition. Not bad, maybe, I would say ... muted.
So we tried one of this springs in a regular Tilemahos to see if it's the wire to blame, but building a regular coil from a spring is a pain, the results I wouldn't consider.
So then we made a Kanthal coil shaped like a spring and it's the same - mediocre flavour rendition, many users in Italy are experiencing this. Air flow issues maybe? Coil to close to the air hole?
Let's experiment further, I wnat this to work, it's so easy to mount and unmount.

:(

Try on a regulated mod so you can see if more power makes any difference. You should also easily be able to change the height of the coil to see if it makes a difference.

I will try it later with some more subtle flavour juices to see if I have the same experience. So far it seems the same as the Tilemahos previously, which was very good for flavour.

Can someone please tell me if this split juice back into mouth issue has been solved with the new rebuildable part? I just placed my order.Thank you.

I'm not getting any spitback so far with it, I am using it on a mech though so I couldn't say if it will happen on a regulated Device.

Do you use the 2.0 or 2.5 mm Version?

2.0 mm.

:(

I'm only using VW devices here. Given the diameter of the wire I think less than 20W makes for too long an activation time.

Yep!
This is the crucial point IMHO. I'll make some experiments.

It was very good indeed, but the difference here is striking. It's not only me, we have discussions on italian forums going on since hours on this issue.

No issues in this respect so far.

I have experienced that muted flavor in some of my Tilemahos, my theory is that it has to do with the amount of wick in the coil, when the contact between the coil and the wick is not enough, it could produce bad taste or muted flavor.

Also, I think the closer the coil to the air intake, the better the flavor that it will produce: why? because it forces all the air to hit the coil in its way up..

I know, me and my crazy theories again (I tend to overthink things) :D

Anyway, try using more wick and let us know if it helps to improve the flavor :)

Lo Zio, first of all check if the spring sticks out a lot from the negative pole and cut it. Also, cut the wick TOTALLY flash to the channels. To do that, raise at more than 45 degrees the wick and then cut it, like I did on my video.

Yeah, it was Cut - .4 ohms.
I'll try to lift the coil a bit and I'll check again how you cut the wick in the video.

Lo zio flavor is a function of chamber size, wire, shape of the coil, gauge of wire, wick and power. Not sure if I missed anything.

It's not easy to pin point the cause but everything can have a solution.

How did you use to build before?

Yes, I agree. Obviously several parameters play a role in the overall performance of an atomizer, including flavor rendition.
The short distance between air hole and coil, though, is what immediately jumped to my eyes; in fact I experienced the opposite to bones 3, even recently with Tilemahos V2+ - the greater the distance, the richer the flavor (with other drawbacks, of course).

Anyway, try using more wick and let us know if it helps to improve the flavor :)

Nope.
With all due respect Ariel, I'm really greateful for your help and you taking the time to answer my doubts, but I've run through several GG atomizers like yu did for sure (in fact i exclusively vape with GG atomizers) and I think I know how to run them. By no means I am a vaping genius -not at all- but correct wick posioning is there I think. :D

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I'm pointing to the coil height issue. Tomorrow I'll lift it a bit, and.. don't know, something will come to my mind.
What would be really grate is some pictures of your setups, it's only GG veterans here - come on guys! Show your builds! :headbang:

This is the 2.5mm version with the coil fairly high up.

I find with the tilemahos the coil raised up is better for flavour, too close to the air hole and the air is only hitting part of the coil which seems to make it a little harsh, but with the coil higher I seem to get a good result. Who knows, maybe I just got lucky but I set both of them up like this, 0.8Ω and all good so far.

Take in to consideration this is 8 turns on a 3mm wick, thats a lot of coil to get air to which is why I went for the 2.5mm version. My flavour chaser editions I would have the coil more central.

I don't know how many springs you have, or if you are able to do so, but pushing the coils to the centre and trying to get them to stay there so they are more densely spaced over the air hole may give you a better result. You would probably need to compress the inner coils of the spring and heat it though to get it to stay in that position.

Personally I didn't have to mess about with mine, I built it as close to my usual build as possible, more wick due to having a wider diameter to fill, cut off flush with the body and properly soak the wick with juice before I put the chimney on it so I know it is fully saturated.

I hope you get it working. If not, I will buy it off you for €5 so I can try the smaller air hole and make a decision which one I like best

Yeah, I hope we can get the parts and pieces soon. Really looking for a flavor chaser housing that I don't have to pay twice as much as the part to ship. :)
