OK OK you guys are right. I did a blind test with Unk and CW. I couldn't tell the difference. Only differences I could find was CW was easier to work with, it took slightly less power and a higher temp then the Unk, CW reached temps I had set faster which was 275F 15J CW, 265F 16J Unk. That could all be because of what The Bloke said about CW not being a true 26awg more like 27 and a slightly higher resistance about .02 with a 5 wrap spaced 3mm coil all on STM's. They are both using about the same amount of juice but they are both only 2 days old and they use more when new we'll see after a week.

Really enjoying the Unkamen 26g & 28g Ti, but it is so damn dirty... I pull a section out of the spool and take a piece of IPA wet paper towel to it, the first pulls are like solid black then it starts to taper off. After quite a bit of wiping there can still be an occasional very faint thin line. Do you guys leave it there or keep cleaning till there isn't even a minute trace left? I don't have a Ultrasonic cleaner and don't see me picking one up anytime soon.

I have read about the ease of using Ni 200 with SS mesh in Genny's, can this be done with Ti and has anyone here built a Genny with Ti and a SS mesh wick? Any Tips?

Sitting down, facing forward.
Dragon, I had the same problem with zivipf wire. My solution is to use a Scotch Brite with IPA first, then a tissue Cuts the cleaning time down to very little. Then, as a last step, a few low power pulses. The first pulse or two usually produces a slight bit of smoke as all the residuals burn off.

Thanks!
A Scotch Brite will be picked up tonight with groceries.

I always wipe my wire down with some alcohol on cotton and then give it an ultrasonic bath in Vodka. That is a good time to give my atty's a bath too.

Right behind you...
Has anyone measured the leg length on a Kanger STM RBA base. I'm thinking around 20mm but I might be way off.

Yeah, that's a wee bit high. :) In your case, if you really had 20mm total legs, each leg would be more than 3 times longer than your coil is wide. In other words, 20mm would mean you could put three of those coils you made side-by-side in the space ONE of your legs takes up. But I bet you'd be lucky to fit half a coil in the actual space.

There's a reason Steam Engine uses 5mm as a starting point, because that's pretty good ballpark for most atomizers.

Remember, it's not the total length of the legs wrapped around a screw or through a post hole (or slid under a screw in the case of the STM) we're talking about here. It's the length from the edge of the coil where the legs start until they first make electrical contact with the positive or negative on the atomizer.

Your leg length is measured from the center of the coil to the first place it makes contact with the post. For a STmini rba use 10mm for total leg length in SE. Yes, .00336 is the correct tcr for Ti.

One post says from center of coil, another from the edge. What's the verdict?

There's an old saying that if you can't tell it doesn't matter lol. From a heating standpoint, it would be edge of coil. From a how does steam engine work and do its calculations based on entered leg length standpoint, I don't know either. ;)
