Have you checked with Temcoindustrialpower and see if they ship over there. You might get a better deal.
Hey legs,

I could but they will probably want to sell me 100 lbs or it or something...lol! I guess I could try to get the UK guys and gals to gether and organise a group buy. To be honest, the zivipf/SV wire is ok for me and I use NiFe48 pretty much across the board these days...

Hi there,

I bought a spool of 26 gauge Ti wire from vapowire (appears to be made by TEMCo) and made a 0.17 ohm spaced coil on my subtank mini rba. I keep tasting this subtle aftertaste that's almost metallic like (or maybe it's the lack of kanthal taste that I'm noticing I'm really not sure) ; it's not necessarily bad but enough to drive me nuts. Tried different juices and it's still there.

To prep I wiped it down with vodka and let it sit in freshly boiled water for a few minutes. Also pulsed it in power mode at 10w for quite a few times until it would just start to glow and then let go of the power.

In any case does the coil look all right to you? Any thoughts?

Many thanks... I'm tempted to try ss at this point but seeing all these comments about the lack of metal taste with Ti makes me want to keep at it.

Ps. Using a vtc mini mod with the subtank mini

Excuse me if this has been addressed but I can't find the answer with a search and don't have time to read 181 pages.

I am using titanium coils, 10 wrap around 3mm. Ohm meter says .22 ohms. This is only about my 4th build with titanium. I'm using a Griffin RTA which I also have only built on a few times.

This last build was difficult. For whatever reason, 3 tries came out at .16 ohms which I knew wasn't right. I'm using a Joytech cuboid. I finally got a build that stayed at 2.2 but now I am concerned because when I vape, the resistance goes up as high has .3..something. As I can't really see the screen while I am vaping it, I'm not really sure how high it goes. I have fired it while watching the screen however, and the resistance jumps every time it's heated. As protection kicks in fairly quickly, the highest reading I've seen while watching is .26.

I know the resistance of Ti changes with heat, but is this normal? I'm not aware it ever did it before this build and since I had issues getting the build right, I just want to make sure. It always goes back to .22 within a second after I release the fire button.

Just want to make sure I'm not going to get my face blown up or anything.

The Cuboid displays live resistance so it's totally normal.

have you guys still been having good success with Titanium claptons?
Yes. I haven't used titanium in any other way other than as cores for fused claptons for months. For me, it's the most time consuming build I have to do every month or so because I unspool like 12 feet of the kanthal outer wrap and wipe it down with alcohol and then respool it before I even bust out the drill. This is because you can't dry-burn Ti fused claptons the same way you would an all kanthal or nichrome fused clapton build to burn that oil and dirt off.

Even with my alcohol wipe process there is still a metallic "dirty" taste for the first hour or so of vaping on it.

Just imagining the work you have, I feel tired already.

I tried a few exquisite coils but I always return to the simple approach. A simple spaced Ti coil just works. Keep it clean, don't dry burn it uncontrolled (use the double TCR trick on the dna 200) and you can use the same coil for like 6 months. And that's a coil you use 24/7. You could use it for over a year if OCD doesn't take over or you use two or more atties.

Keep on vaping :)

Both my Lemo2's have 22 or 24AWG Ti01 builds in them. I just pull the wick once a month or so, dry burn and rewick. With the thicker wires the coil really holds its shape.

In the STM I tend to use 28AWG however I do have a few 30 or 32AWG Ti01 builds which hit over 1.0 ohm so that my older VV/VW stuff can fire it. In the Nautilus and Aspire T1 tanks I like to use 30 or 32AWG Ti01. Not much room in there and I like to hit higher the 1.0 ohm so they can be used on older equipment.

On my newer tanks I've grown accustomed to using NiFe 48/52. I have two Resitherm30 (Dicodes special) and a Invar build. I rarely use Ni200 anymore and I see no use in rewinding/replacing my current Ti01 builds as they function as good as I need them to.

That's great to hear. Personally I have some prejudice against composite materials / alloys but if it floats your boats, I'm happy for you guys.

I haven't used ni 200 for ages now. My original tempered spools are barely touched and probably never will.

I guess I'll be the official test Guinea pig of long term exposure to Ti coils.

    I'm still breathing :)

I still use Ti every day. I think SS is just finally becoming more popular.

I use both Ti and SS for fused claptons with Ka as the outer wrap. The Ti gives me equal if not better flavor in fused claptons with the benefit of better temperature control.

I just hate having to dry burn my Ti/Ka fused claptons every couple weeks or so because I'm always wondering if I'm making a little TiO2 under those wraps. Either way I burn/rinse/rewick these builds at least 3 times before building a new one.

I feel a little more comfortable dry burning SS builds though I'm still on the fence about whether we should be doing that at all...
