Im going to need a lab in order to keep up with str8. Im still enjoying the extract without reducing since wifey wont let me near her kitchen equipment. Any ex pipe smokers here who can recommend me tobacco with a very smokey but not grassy profile for my next extraction?
Btw nice to see @dannyv45 in this thread. Ive been reading the hangsen tobacco flavring thread alot but sadly i have no access to hangsen stuff where im at.

You don't need a heat source to reduce. Just cover snugly with a paper towel or coffee filter. The ethanol will evaporate off over time.

St8, i have read in your first post, that you prefer for example some tobaccos from Cornell & Diehl. These tobaccos are cutted, if i have seen it right. Whats about tobacco leafs for example from leafonly.com. Have you tried leafs or is it better to search for cutted tobacco.

I have googled and found some sellers in europe because i am german. Does anybody know them ?

Flue Cured Whole Leaf - PureLeaf

Whole Leaf Tobacco Only - Turkish oriental

If i buy leafs, is there a special cutter for it ?

Why not try the tobaccos you linked and perhaps a few pipe tobaccos as well? By sampling the various tobaccos available where you live you'll figure out which one(s) best suit your personal taste. My suggestion for using whole leaf tobacco would be to shred it for the extraction similar to a typical pipe tobacco. There are many different ways to shred whole leaf but I would just use clean, sharp scissors. That's what I use to shred cigars.

I do prefer tobacco that has been cured using a combination of heat and pressure, for my taste it produces a more favorable extract. My experience with organic whole leaf sun dried tobacco was disappointing, it produced a very weak flavor. Might have just been the specific tobacco I used, other whole leaf tobaccos may produce a wonderful extract I really couldn't say. I mainly stick with pipe tobacco blends that have been cured and blended by companies specializing in doing so, that's where I've obtained the best results from. Cigar tobaccos have yet to produce an extract robust enough to please me but I'm still working on fixing that. If I ever figure out how to capture the full "true" flavor of a fine cigar, I will be a happy camper. :)

I have tried Bright Leaf Virginia Sweet from LeafOnly and found it to be a very nice flavor. Canadian Virginia is similar but somewhat weaker. My favorite though is American Spirit Perique Blend, followed closely by American Spirit Organic - both more flavorful than LeafOnly IMO. I have sent samples to Danny45 and asked him to post his impressions. He does a better job in describing flavors. His favorite though seems to be Bright Leaf Virginia Sweet. Hopefully he will post his thoughts whenever he gets a chance.

I prefer pipe tobaccos because, -so far-, they have provided the best extracted flavor and because they have far fewer chemical additives than does cigarette tobacco. The exception to this is "Natural American Spirit" cigarette tobaccos (I've extracted the Perique blend), which are additive free and make a tasty NET.

Yes, I smoked a pipe on and off since the '60s. Smoked cigarettes for several decades but gave them up back in the '90s. Kept the pipe until I discovered NETs a few years ago, been vaping exclusively ever since.

Sadly, My source for pipe tobacco (www.smoke-king.co.uk) won't post out of the UK.
Maybe We could get round this via p.m.?...
They sell 5g. pipe 'baccy samples, this has enabled Me to make 15 different extracts for very little outlay....imagine having to buy 15 different 1oz. pouches of tobacco at UK (TAX!!!) prices.......

Natural American Spirit Yellow Addative Free Hand Rolling Tobacco 25g

The same costs in germany 3,5 pounds or 5 euro. Is this true ? I can not believe.

It comes in both forms - rolling tobacco and cigarettes as well.

The UK must be THE most expensive country for 'baccy!
When I smoked, My 'baccy was 'Old Holborn'...I used to get a Ferry to Belgium & bring back a suitcase full, saving £10.00 PER 50g. POUCH!!! (£14.00 UK, £4.25 Belgium....)
I've just looked on Smoke-King for current price......£18.25/50g.!!!!
I'd love to extract Am. Spirit but I can't buy a 5g. sample, only a 25g, pouch.......@ £9.10 + postage!!!
AND...Our 'Glorious Leaders' (!?) are trying to get purchasers of Wholeleaf to pay Tax on purchases, commensurate with RYO 'baccy......www.wholeleaftobaccoonly.co.uk have been seriously hassled by the Revenue recently.
I'll be getting a s***load of Red Virg./Brightleaf Virg./ Burley wholeleaf WHILE I STILL CAN!
Scary times for Vapers...........even worse for NET Vapers!!

Even here in the U.S. I fear the "golden days" of vaping are about over. Once the FDA succeeds in labeling all e-liquid as being a tobacco product subject to heavy regulation I believe our individual state governments will descend upon us like a swarm of hungry locust, taxing the bejesus out of liquid nic, juice and everything else vape related. One of the reasons I began extracting tobacco was to learn how to make my own NET and become self-sufficient, insolated from excessive government nonsense. Took nearly three years but I'm there. Also why I've got so much 100mg liquid nic in the freezer, I'm FDA proof at this point in time.

Glad to read this as I just put a jar of American Spirit Organic in the brewer! (Crock) Also enjoying some Organic Burley from LeafOnly as we speak. I'm loving this PGA extraction method. If The ASO turns out nice, I might invest in a better filtration method, but as for now, unbleached coffee filters and frozen filtering is doing quite nice!

And, for some reason, maybe it's just me, but the Organic Spirit smells a lot better and more complex than the regular. Can't wait!
