Ok so I called 5 pharmacies and visited two. I can only find 28,30, and 31 gauge needles. One pharmacist wouldn't even tell me what they had because 'I needed a script to get them anyway'. I might need to buy another 5' stainless steel tube at this rate, but I like the idea of pre-cut tubing with a plastic cap I can affix to the bottle. Anyone in NYS, or equally intrusive government, that has any ideas? Maybe piercing needles?
if you want i'll send you some 16 and 18G.

I saw some at Ace Hardware up in a case by the cash registers.
MrD- Got mine yesterday, was working pretty good but then JUST QUIT! I must have knocked the + connection loose. I'll need to do some investigating later. When it was working, I think it may just do the trick! Now, if i can just drill the dang holes straight!!!
Any suggestions?

its the ground connection that you lost. trick is to make the threads surface a little rough by sanding or filing it. not too much though... see if you can find a better o=ring. the one i replaced with on mine is a bit thicker than the one it comes with. are you trying the LED version?
ow! dont drill the holes the size you need. do it a bit smaller then increase its size manually with a file or whatever you have in hand. a round one preferably.
c'mon stormi! you can do it. but take your time.

Krythis, sorry for the longer lapse- vacation. Glad you got the needles, if it is bottom feeding you want you could use some silicon tubing to get the needle to stay on or perhaps hot glue. You might want to try removing the drip cap from the bottle and sticking the needle through the bottom of it. Also, a tube to get to the bottom of the bottle would be good, and since size doesn't matter much perhaps that 5' SS section?

My second SUCKaTON was letting a bit of air in around the fob cap connector which I was keeping up with while vaping, but as the carto got stiffer and I over torqued something at the beach one day it got out of whack. I've since filled the gap with silicone and when it is lined up right it gets decent control. Between adjusting the needle height and backing off the atty a quarter to half turn it makes a nice control valve and behaves much more like I believe MisterD's does.

But lately I've been putting the first model through it's paces as I've got a better way to use it now.

On a side note, the smaller 510 connector fits nicer for this but the silicone insulator isn't as good. With the larger connector it is a single molded nipple, but in the smaller version it is two pieces of tubing that come apart easier, I've had 2 of 3 fail. Replacing or adding heatshrink tubing on the center pin fixes along with a slightly larger rubber insulator from a carto seems to help with the valve function too.

LOL I have had my head so buried in mosfet switches and circuit creation I never got a chance to look at this thread, after reading the whole thread and since it deals with pill fobs :) I will try my hand at one of these, how ever I think instead of using any silicon tubing I will run a straight SS tube from the bottom connector through the top connector with a soldered on shoulder about a 1/4" from the top connector with a spring to ensure pos connection. Then use a dremel cutting wheel to notch a hole in the very bottom of the tube, this will allow the flow of juice up the SS tube while providing electrical connection. Found a nice small pill fob in the CVS that will work perfectly. Will report mu results. Nice job Mr. D.

Attached is my concept based on your work.
Dan

I ordered 300(3 different boxes/gauges) yesterday and received an email this morning telling me that the state of NY requires a medical license in order to purchase needles or syringes. They said that there are a few states with similar laws. I assume they're afraid of ...... addicts ordering clean syringes weeks in advance? Hell I can go to the pharmacy and buy up to 10 syringes with no questions asked thanks to the 'clean needle act'.

Guess it's time to bust out an old punk tshirt and run to Rite Aide :2cool:

If you just need the needles & want ones with a blunt tip, look here. Maybe they will ship these to you since they don't have a point.

Whatever happened with MV? Is he going to produce? & sell them?
Good job & good luck with 'em.:toast:
im waiting on my Precious!!!!
MV? i dont think its gonna happen. haven't heard from Mark in a long time.
i wanna stick an E2 inside this pill fob and see what happens!! :D

Ok, MisterD here's some small stuff. Essentially it is just a replacement of the insulator which fits looser on the center pin and a o-ring on the center pin.

Top view with o-ring in place:

Dan, those plans sound great, only the spring needs to be a fairly thick gauge to minimize resistance, but very doable indeed. Also a half round jewelers file will notch/trim the needles just fine, the dremel might be a bit much:p

Also, that spring would aid in opening the valve portion, but too much and you would lose the center pin.

And Sci, what you working on? I second the avatar pic edit

Ok here is what I have so far, I drilled the holes on the pill fob and used 2 16ga needles, I cut one out of the plastic connector and inverted it and cut the point off the other and crimped it into the swap connector on the 1st needle, and trimmed the excess to fit for the right height to the pll fob. I then removed a carto center post and moved it to the 510 center post. So now I inserted the needle assembly into the carto center post on the 510. I just need the 510 female comnnector installed and the spring and I can test operation. Here are some pics.

Goodness Dan, you work quick! Is that the CVS fob you meant? What are the upper/ lower OD's and length? Sorry to pester, but I like to build too :D.

Also, what's a 'swap sleeve'? My needles all have ceramic glue and a plastic nipple to attach to syringe, yours looks like a metal tube:blink:

Looks like a real winner, and please let us know how it goes.

edit: the 510 carto tube is a great addition too

nice pill fob in there! i drilled the holes on mine and glued the 2 tiny holes on the bottom connector last night. all i have to do now is solder the LED legs and solder and then epoxy seal the outside. i like having my needle removable so i can use different gauges. too bad asdaq work seem too complicated but i might give it a try one of these days.
