Hi,
I was pack a day+ for 40 years, and been vaping 36mg or 24 mg, for two weeks now (had only 4 analogs in two weeks, because battery ran out and I didn't have a spare on me)

After two weeks vaping, I feel wonderful. My morning cough (from 40 yrs of analogs) is almost gone, I breath much, much better after only two weeks (and was diagnosed with cronic bronchitis by my Dr. two yrs ago) I think my cronic bronchitis is gone now. I used to cough my head off in the mornings, every morning.

I sleep like a baby, no bad dreams (I used to get them on the patch the many times I tried that.)

So, I'm never going back to smoking. I will vap as long as I feel I need to, gradually cut down on the nic mg. level, and eventually quit all together. Yippiee!!!!!

I tried, gum, patch, zyban, chantix, cutting down (all several times) vaping worked for me! Congrats on your vaping, and you will find the forum to be very supportive.

IF the temperature and the atomizers reach over 280 degrees (which someone on here said they did test them at that degree) and glycerin decomposes into acrolein at 280 degrees. Acrolein is toxic, causing damage to the lungs and could cause death. Breathing lower amounts may cause eye watering and burning of the nose and throat and a decreased breathing rate; these effects usually disappear after exposure stops.

Animal studies show that breathing acrolein causes irritation to the nasal cavity, lowered breathing rate, and damage to the lining of the lungs.

Im still confused as to why VG scares you but PG doesn't?
acrolein is in tabacco cigarettes- "Acrolein is a gas with an intensely irritating smell and is one of the most abundant chemicals in cigarette smoke." (emphasis is mine)
Because our PVs have no acrid annoying smell, my logic jumps to it *at least* being lower in our vapor than in the old cancer sticks. It may be linked to fueling cancer, but not causation. (just like nicotine) so it just doesn't scare me. Not when my other option is a real cigarette.

I think I'm sensitive to PG, as it is one of the ingredients in perfumes and I'm sensitive to perfumes. I'm trying to switch to dripping carts and using a non PG liquid, but I don't know which e cig to switch to. I've been having trouble getting enough vapor from my kiss box and have a new atomizer on the way to see if that is my problem since it's brand new.

I love the amount of vapor I get from my Red Dragon e cig but I'm pretty sure I'm reacting to their cartridges, which only come with PG. I heard I could drip them to refill, but I don't know how many times I can do that before they fritz out since the atomizer is part of the cartridge and intended to be thrown away after use.

do you use VG? I have a bottle here and I was thinking of mixing it with some water to try it b/c the PG makes me feel wierd.. I guess the acrolein thing isn't too scarey if its found in cigarettes already..

I've used both, and they seem fine. I'm sure you'd be able to taste acrolein if it was being produced in your vape - it is a disgusting smell, and very penetrating (try burning some VG on your stove if you want to see what it smells like!) You get used to it in cigarettes, just like the tar and ammonia, and all the other filth (and only notice them once you've given up and try to go back to analogs!)
VG is sweeter - quite nice actually, but don't add too much water. Straight VG's gloopy, but it goes too runny real quick once you start adding water. Start with adding <5% water, and you can fine tune it from there.

I don't know that model, but I get the impression the atomizers usually outlast all other components in disposables - they don't engineer them to be crappier than regular atomizers, so I've heard of disposables being refilled until the battery dies, and then wired up to new power, and vaped on some before the atomizer finally expires. Vape it till it dies, that's the best advice.

Rather than dripping, can you rinse out the cart and refill it?

Here's where I learned how to refill them, afaik you can't take them apart without trashing the wire and ruining it. Would rinsing it hurt it? I figure it's only good for so many fills before it's toast. It would be cool if they sold them empty so you could fill them yourself since they don't make a non-PG version.

I don't have enough posts to post a link and it won't let me give you the url even with breaks in it. it's Leaford's electronic cigarette reviews 6311, red dragon review 2, post 100829

Lorraine-
I am one week into using my e-cig and I think I've got the routine down now. At first I was getting sore throats and increased heart rate. But I was vaping like a fiend at first! I was using a medium PG juice, however I'm thinking of changing to a non-PG with less nicotine so I can vape at the same intervals without feeling like I might OD. I'm still getting occasional scratchy throat, but I've found I can suck on a cough drop and it's fine. I also found if I inhale a little differently I get no scratchy throat whatsoever. What I've been doing is after (or while) dragging, breathe air in through the nose before inhaling the vapor. This fills your lungs with air first so you don't inhale the vapor as deeply. This helped both with the throat and heart rate issues. I've also noticed that if the cartridge is getting a little dry that I'm more prone to a sore throat. I've been sleeping better, mostly because I think I'm breathing better. I've had a few very vivid dreams, but that could be either from detoxing all the other garbage that came from the analogs, or it could be that I've forgot what it was like to dream without the influence of those toxins.

I really love not feeling short of breath, having nasty phlegm, and not worrying about how I smell. I can vape in my car now, whereas I would never smoke in my car before because I didn't want the smell of a "smoker's car". And as far as feeling the need to smoke regular cigarettes, I can take them or leave them, which I could never have said without the e-cigarette. I've been smoking 1 regular cig a day only because I had some left over in a pack, and I just didn't like the idea of throwing them out since I paid so much for them! When they're gone, I won't be buying more. Just don't see the need.

I am almost jealous of the newbie feelings and realizations! Enjoy it!
:)
My hair smells so good...my car...my hands..my breath...I smoked my entire adult life so I don't even remember what all this felt like. I haven't only saved money not buying cigs- I save now on not buying gums and lotions that I used to hide my smokers smell that I hated so much!

Getting the atomizer wet's no problem, so long as you disconnect the battery - I regularly boil my atomizers to (hopefully) get some of the gunge off the coils, and make them last longer. It's a shame to waste the juice, but if the PG's not agreeing with you, and you can't get empty cartomizers but want to keep going with the same device, then it may be a solution.

hmm, from the looks of it though, you can only get at it through the hole in the end - it's going to be difficult to get water out again afterwards if that's a sealed unit, and then it will be annoyingly watery when you add your VG-based liquid. I think you might be better off just trying to syringe out as much of the PG liquid as you can, and then topping it up with the VG. Or getting something with a more accessible cart.

Can the mouthpiece be popped off? I guess it's probably glued (or if you're lucky only wedged or clipped on.) You can try experimenting with a dead one, just to see if it can be cracked open with pliers to get at the innards. It shouldn't damage the coil (that's at the other end of the unit,) but you may have to be careful not to snap the plastic.

you can pop them off by poking something in the hole. I've been using the end of an empty refillable pencil or a pointy tweezer. :D After a few fills the paper cover starts to look a little rough, but otherwise no worries so far.

Good, then you should be able to swill out the PG-based juice. If the stuffing's not glued in, you can pull it out and run it under the tap, and then squeeze it in a bit of tissue to dry it out before refilling with the VG.

Make sure the atomizer's dry before you use it again - best to put it in a warm place overnight just to get rid of any residual water.

It kind of looks like the wire is looped through it somehow in the middle, like the whole think might come apart if I try to take out the stuffing, but I'm going to sacrifice one and see what happens when I try to pull it out.

The beginning of this thread talked about side effects.
Remember, when we switch from analogue to vaping, we're only continuing to supply our bodies with nicotine - not all the other crap in cigarette smoke. Our bodies, go through withdrawal from the 4,000 chemical additives we're no longer getting (thank God).
For me, the first couple nights I had strange dreams and was irritable. I had an upset stomach for a couple days while my body was busy disposing of the crappy additives I'd loaded it down with over the last 11 years.
I would say any strange feelings a new e-cigarette user is experiencing is due to withdrawal.
