My side effects are all positive;

- Getting good nights sleep now (when I can)
- Smoker's Cough is completely gone
- Energy Level is through the roof (Even with a newborn in the home, and very little sleep)
- It takes a lot more effort to get winded now

Overall I believe this device to be a life saver for me. I did have a couple of small headaches the first couple of days, but my dieting practices are horrible and I tend to skip meals on a regular basis, so I attribute the headaches to that. I don't really have a problem with sore/dry throat, but I also go through about 10 water bottles a day...

The only major side effect I had was the dry/scratchy throat as others have mentioned.

The biggest (positive) side effect for me is that quitting analogs has helped immensely since I'm an asthmatic. I still have my nebulizer for when I may need it, but not having that horrible tightness in my chest after smoking is like a godsend. I'm so glad I've found e-cigs :)

I had a similar response early on, although not quite as bad as your's sounds. Since you quit smoking, your lungs are probably starting to expell years of tar build up. It did go away for me after a short while.

I do think you're right about drinking enough water, though. We need the fluids to flush out all the crap that we've all absorbed.

Well, after two days of making sure I drink more water, I feel much better!

I had night sweats for a couple nights, but that's gone...I'm still having pretty vivid dreams, but I hope that *doesn't* go away! :)

And so far, the cat doesn't seem too bothered by the farts...hehehehe...so she's no fun to "dutch oven".

But the best part is that I STILL haven't given that half pack of smokes left up on my fridge a second thought. WOOHOO!!!

Next to all that is allready said (good things - especially indeed DRINK a lot; and last thing before sleeping, swash your mouth and throat with some water too) there is also another possible cause for the 'tight chest' - a doctor that started vaping himself, so had experience on the subject, told vapers coming to him with this side-effect, that it was probably due to them having to use different muscles in their chest-region then they had been using as a smoker. Invoking muscle-pains in the chest that way (of course disappearing once those muscles get trained a bit more).

Have had no negative side effects. On a positive note my breathing is easier, i have stopped coughing after a couple of weeks. I am convinced the cough was me clearing out the lungs after stopping regular cigs. I still step outside to the smoking area at work and have to say that I do not enjoy it as much as I used to.....the smell in the smoking area is unbearable.

Browsing around tonight, just got my 901 yesterday and VG to cut 24mg juice from MyVaporStore, charged my batteries today and plan on trying this out tomorrow as I still have to cut the juice. The more I read, the more I read people having allergies, tightness in the chest, dream issues, sleep walking....yikes! People are reporting SE's showing up awhile after starting vaping.

I do see though that a good many people seem to vape um...non-stop during the day. I can't envision doing that myself. I smoke a pack or less a day. I don't smoke in my car, don't smoke in my house aside from right under the stove fan in the kitchen.

I'm wondering if the SE's are mostly with folks who vape all day long, how many people really have no issues at all with SE's. I'm also wondering if I shouldn't be cutting the juice even more than 50/50 to be on the safe side.

Any input would be appreciated...

No issues here, maybe a touch of tingle or raspyness in the throat I believe because I'm basically inhaling small puffs of steam now. Kinda like sinus drainage feeling, which could be happening and responsible for it I guess. Not bad though.

Pack a day here for 35 years.

After two weeks I noticed my lungs felt clearer, Walking the dog a couple of miles I got much less winded going up hills.

I haven't had the morning migraines I often got when I smoked too much tobacco the day before.

My sinuses also feel a lot clearer.

I never had a smokers cough or hack, so nothing there.

No real down side yet, other than it being tempting to just vape all the time.

I did have an issue with not getting an equal nicotine fix with 18mg juice, I'm starting on 36mg juice today and so far it's great. I can get my nic fix as strong as an analog in about the same puffs or less. I use a 402 mini so it's also great for stretching out battery life.

Learning to regulate how much nicotine your getting has been the biggest issue. With cigs you smoke one, and it's gone. Easy to get what you need and with years of experience getting my dose didn't require any thinking. One cig was one dose and that's it.

Now I have to think about how much I'm getting, and regulate it by feel or puffs rather by how many cigs I've burned. Seems easy to just keep puffing on the e-cig all day, which could be why some have issues.

As for allergies, I have none so I couldnt say. I'm not even allergic to poison Ivy or poison Oak, I can roll in the stuff.

I had concerns of side-effects when I started too. Chest tightness is one. That, for the most part, had gone away after 2 weeks of vaping. I was smoking analogs at the same time for the first 2 weeks. Can't really say much there but, for my body, I found staying hydrated helped for some reason. Not only that but helped the minor sore throat too. I had neither side effect very badly though.

What I DID have was this crazy feeling of being oddly "stoned". Like removed from everything. Hard to concentrate and felt sliiigtly out of body, for lack of a better term.

I have a new theory for this side-effect that I just discovered. I think I may have an allergic reaction to the primer on the atomizers when they come new. Just a few days ago, I received two new atomizers. I snagged one right away, dripped on it one drop, filled up a new cart, and started vaping.... Those same symptoms of feeling "stoned" came back!!! I switched back to my old atomizer and the feeling wore off.

So, I'm going to try to burn the primer off. The vendor I bought from suggested dripping a few drops on the atty and letting it burn for a few seconds at a time.

And, if you quit smoking entirely, you will most likely vape a *lot*. A big reason people vape a lot is because, according to the few studies we have so far, a puff off an e-cig has only about 10% of the nicotine in one puff of a regular cigarette (this using 16mg e-liquid... would be ~15% for your 24mg if you don't cut it). Some theorize about whether the rest of the nicotine stays in your lungs and gets absorbed over time. As far as I know, no studies have been done to look into that aspect.

Keep that in mind if you quit entirely. I'm, to the day, 2 weeks out from quitting smoking and after the fourth day, I was ripping peoples' heads off and couldn't figure out why until I realizied that I'm was as close as I could be to going cold turkey. I picked up some Camel Snus and that took the edge off but gave me heartburn and bad breath... ugh!

More than anything, don't take my word or anyone else's. There are more people that do not experience side effects as opposed to those that do. Listen to your body. If you aren't feeling good, stop. Stay safe and aware.

Good luck :)

Spirou-

I think the answer is that you are not getting nearly as much nicotine from the e-cig as you are accustomed to with 40-50 analogs. I went from 5-10 analogs a day to the equivalent of 8-10 801 8mg carts per day. (I say equivalent because I refill one cart several times during the day with 8mg liquid.) Nicotine activates the sympathetic nervous system and this stimulates the bowel. You are accustomed to the bowel stimulation, but you could readjust over time to lower levels of stimulation. Incidentally, cutting your analogs in half is a huge improvement. You could get it down further if you wanted by using more nicotine.

Okay, I'm adding to my short list of side effects.. breakouts! Not full fledged acne, but spots in places I rarely get them; my neck! I hope it stops or levels out soon, it's annoying.

If you've quit analogs altogether, the breakouts are due, from what most say, to your body detoxing from the chemicals in analogs. I'm getting them too. Most smokers get that when they quit analogs.

I'm the OP of this thread and I just wanted to update that after a few weeks of vaping (I still smoke maybe 7 analogs a day (down from 20)...I still have one left in a pack I bought Wed. morning on my way to work. It's almost 4:00pm Friday.)

I have hotflashes off and on. However, I AM 52 and had experienced one or two hotflashes about 6 months ago so this could easily be menopause. (Hysterectomy years ago so no period to stop)....Other than that, nothing. No chest tightness, no cough, no sore throat UNLESS I get a dry cartridge.

I did show my boss (work for two docs) my e-cig yesterday and ask him about the propylene glycol and he said he doesn't think it should be a problem. I trust the guy, he's got a photographic memory and is extremely intelligent.

So...all's good except that I've got one atomizer that works really crappily and one dead battery a couple weeks in.....grrrr......I'm seriously going to try a mod that uses rechargeable Nimh batteries......

Oh yeah forgot, I've lost that annoying need to clear my throat all the time since I've cut back on the analogs if that counts as a SE.

Yup, I've quit them altogether.. a week today. I didn't change anything in my skincare routine, so I'm blaming the analogs.

This was something I forgot about too, the awful persistent phlegm I had when I was smoking analogs. Quite embarrassing when you can't talk due to the excessive amounts, so by the time I'd clear my throat people would be giving me looks of semi-disgust.
