I'll say what some other Members have Mentioned Already.

A Possible Sweeping Change to e-liquid Taxation - 60 Posts?

Heck, I've seen 250 post threads where people get All Bent about Provari vs. Lavatube. And 10 of them Running Concurrently.

Exactly ..

Trying to get some letters done to the dunderheads in DC. Thanks to all that have provided addresses!

On another note:
If nicotine was synthesized in the lab rather than extracted from tobacco (and it can be!) then the FDA would have no regulatory authority? Suddenly our suppliers don't sell "e-cigarettes". They sell batteries, atomizers, and flavored nicotine-containing glycols. Totally different. :)

I wonder if extracting the nicotine from tomatoes or eggplant leaves would circumvent the "tobacco" portion also?
Would this even be feasible and cost effective?

The tiny amount of nic contained in those plants would likely not be cost effective to extract ..

I am not a member of PETA, but I am on their mailing list. Last night I got an email from them asking your senators and congresspeople to help end the abuse of farm animals. The great thing about it was all you had to do is fill in your address and email info and it automatically went to your state congresspeople. It already had a letter included. I wonder how difficult it would be to set something like up on here to promote ecigs.

I noticed when watching the last indiana regulation meeting, it was mentioned that these form letters werent to be considered true and accurate due to them being form letters. Granted, those particular committee people could be described with a few choice choice words, but it was stated none the less, and the other members heard it. It makes me question the effectiveness of form letters, at least for our purposes.

That reminds me, they did request that you personalize your letter. I didn't bother to, but it might help.

Something like this would be really nice...

I was thinking of using their own resources against them by using it to send a letter in support.

And yet, they seem to reply to us with form letters often enough. I guess if you put the two together, you get a politician's opinion of their constituents.

And you get their admission that their communications with their constituents must not be truthful if it's a form letter.

Here you go, Luisa. And this is a mighty long list, IMHO.

Full Committee Members | Committee on Appropriations, U.S. House of Representatives

But as I understand it, this is in the Senate Appropriations Committee now. Here is that (shorter) list.

Committee Members
Thank you! When you prepare a sample letter(you might have already done so),would it be possible to list all the appropriations members and their District or State so hopefully those in the Legislators" State or District would find it easy to contact them.Unfortunately many people do not know who represents them. More attention is paid to constituents of the Senator and/or Representative. Some of those characters will be hard to crack! Thank you. I will contact Hutchinson when a suggested sample letter is available.

Last week, the US Senate Appropriations Cmte approved legislation urging FDA to issue "deeming" regulation to apply Chapter IX of FSPTCA to currently unregulated tobacco products (i.e. little cigars, large cigars, pipe tobacco, shisha/hookah tobacco, electronic cigarettes, nicotine dissolvables, skin cream, etc.) and urging FDA to ban flavorings in cigars.
http://www.cspnet.com/news/tobacco/articles/flavored-cigar-ban-inches-forward

As stated previously, this "deeming" regulation would ban the sale of e-cigarettes unless the FDA makes exceptions for Sections 910 and 905(j). But even if exemptions are made, the "deeming" would eliminate >90% of e-cigarette companies, would increase e-cigarette prices, would make it a felony for any vendor to truthfully claim that e-cigarettes are less hazardous than cigarettes, could ban internet sales of e-cigarettes, and could ban flavored e-cigs (if a flavoring ban for cigars is included).

We need to urge ALL US Senators to remove the "deeming" regulation language from the bill. Please note that liberal Democratic Senators Durbin and Lautenberg are the ones who inserted the "deeming" regulation language in the bill.

Still need to obtain the bill for more details.

This is a huge threat for tobacco harm reduction and for future of the e-cigarette industry in the US and potentially worldwide.

More to come.

I had an 11:30 am meeting today (Saturday) with our law firm's two $300\hour and one $500\hour lawyer. They disclosed they also represent 3 other North Carolina E-Cig companies. They are not worried about this proposed legislation for several reasons. The two most important are the following:

1) The US Supreme Court has ruled that the FDA does not have jurisdiction over e-cig juice. The ATF does.
2) The US House of Representatives would never pass such a ban.

Blue would never have been bought for $150M if the buyer considered this a threat.

Everyone needs to relax and take a deep breath.

I don't think people are Overly Worried about a Ban.

I think what has people Think, or at least I hope Thinking, is Heavy Taxation.

Not say'n it will happen on this go around, but in the Future.
