There is only one
device I know of (Zen) using an isolator in the wick hole, and it doesn't ensure there won't be hot spots. An isolator will also reduce the size of the wick that can fit in the hole, and we all know bigger is better when it comes to wicks (TWSS). If the wick is oxidized correctly, and it isn't too tightly fit (causing the oxidation to scrape off) it's not really needed. I've seen this video posted quite a few times in the last few days. It's a nice little cheat for the beginner, but once you get the feel for your atomizer, it's not needed. This is similar to the rizla trick. It works, but it isn't a substitute for a proper set-up.
In the end, do what works for you though.
This is merely my opinion, and should in no way be taken as fact.
