Hi Skoad, my only experience is with the VMax & LV and between the two, I prefer the VMax. It seems to pump out more power than my LV at the same voltage. In addition, it has some other features which the LV does not have. Would have been better if it just used a single 18650 rather than stacking 2 x 18350s. Just my .02 cents.

I too had this problem. After reading just about all I could find on this subject, I chose to just get a nice 3.7 mod (legacy from Puresmoker)then that way if I want a variable later, I can just add the kick. It's a good price point and all the reviews say its very dependable, reliable and built to last. Then if it meets my desires then I pass this down and move to a Precise and /or the Provari.

Hope this helps ya!

Oh and Welcome!!

Well thanks for all the replies people.

I think form whats been said so far, the LavaTube is out... I have read good things about the VMax but as someone mentioned, they stack batteries and I Dont want to take any chances of it getting a surge or whatever and catching fire. Definitely since this will be a indoor mod and remain sitting on a table when im not near it.... and Ive also learned how to get to 20+ post count in a single thread.

Some good stuff here. Hopefully more people will chime in, and if were lucky, a bored mod will remove all of w27ds posts so this thread can be knocked back to 2 pages.

I havent seen much on the Vari-Tube (I actually first saw this mod right when I was making this threaD)... but it seems pretty good.. at least it has all the protections in place.. Vari-Tube Variable Voltage Electronic Cigarette - Full Size

The Vari-Tube is a Lavatube.

There is a very good thread on the Zmax. Zmax, Tips, Tricks, something like that. I spent a great deal of time reading that complete thread before I decided to get the Zmax. Personally I think there is too much made out of any fear of stacked batteries. Truth is there are lots of different products on the market that use stacked li-on batteries. And if you get a bad battery or a problem with a battery it doesn't matter whether it's stacked or not it could be a problem. I inspect my batteries daily and check the voltage before and after a charge. My wife and I both use a Vmax and we feel safe and comfortable using them. I even tried to get her a chrome Lavatube and she refused to use it.

All that being said it really is a personal choice and what works for me may not work for you.

Even though I have never used one, I would also say that if you could afford a Provari that would probably satisfy you for quite some time. I have never heard anything bad about them and they come with a 1 year warranty and made in USA.

ok well im for one am pro lavatube, i had two at one point. original black that i have had since volcano released it(its what im using now), a chrome version(also known as lambo by some vendors) and both have lived up to my expectations. i currently no longer own the chrome as my cousin was about to spend 200+ in a local shop when he was visiting me. i told him try it out for a few days and if you really like it keep it. also have a darwin that the wife hogs to herself, a couple of box mods(some bottom feeders, some vv some standard 3.7v), and yet i still mainly use the lavatube.

no problems ever with them but also i wasnt buy the knock off versions, simply because i know volcano will truly honor their 1 year warranty, have yet to read a review where it wasnt up held unless it was user damage. now with the new lavatube 2.0(the real one not someone claiming the chrome is the second version, yet still has the same exact specs) coming out with a higher amp limit i have been patiently waiting for it(more like stalking the forums). for its price range the lavatube does exactly what you would want it too do and no stacked batteries.

sorry for the long post

I'm a VMAX user, and would not have it any other way, the lava tube seemed to have quality issues, plus there is the whole who made it issue though i think Apollo still offers the best price around. Apollo PV's apparently don't have enough output to run low resistance dcc's, I did not think this was an issue for me, as I prefer standard to high resistance "stuff". For the price it seems alright.
I have the SS Vmax, an it performs. Period, it's anything and everything I need and want, so much so, that I am getting a second one.
The provari seems to be the gold standard in terms of quality, but for the price, I can't justify coughing up north of $200, when the vmax does it all, and does it REALLY well.
The vario seems to be the best of both, with a great price point, I would buy it. Uses an 18650 battery, pushes out 5amps, uses PWM, and most importantly, it's shiny!
So if it were up to me, i'd go with the vario, however it's not available, so therefore, I would go with the Vmax.

I also own a Vmax in SS from Apollo and I absolutely love it. I use it with CE4 style clearomizers, (with a 510 to eGo adapter), for the most part and it is a sleek looking vaping beast. Due to its expense, I seldom take it out of the house, tho. I save my eGo/kGo/type batts for 'outside' - also using the CE4 clearomizers :)

Please all keep this thread going. Want to get past the starter kit stage and need to make a best choice. Thought about the 1300 mAH battery but after reading here, should probably bypass the intermediate and go right to what will last, is consistent and customizable. Want a Provari mini but price is a considedration :(. Is the LTv2 much improved? Who makes the VTube?

Thank you,
