May i ask what is the need of putting a kick to the vmod xl? I mean, what is the use of doing that? Isn't it "satisfactory" out of the box? I've read pretty good about the box but I really don't like experimenting with products. The reason I'm asking these questions is that if it is not a satisfactory solution, why not go for a variable voltage or higher voltage PV?
My main reason for kicking the XL was for consistency. I like my vape to be in the 10w range all the time. The XL as a stand alone 3.7v device is very satisfactory and there is not much of a difference in vape since I use LR 1.5ohm 306 atty's. With out the kick the device would run roughly from 11.76w, (4.2v), down to 8.16w, (3.5v) as the battery drains and with the kick installed I can vape a consistent 10w vape from the start to finish of the battery. There were days when I rarely noticed a real difference and others where I did prior to installing the kick in the XL. Do I really need the kick? Probably not! It was only $45 and I originally bought it to experiment with and found it to be a little more consistent and that has worked for me to this point. I would've bought VV if it were available from Vapage, and I bought my XL prior to the VV Reos Grand being available. Wattage is simple math and attainable on any device, but I have grown to prefer a consistent vape. This also is the reason I prefer the Cisco spec LR 1.5ohm atty's from Avid as well. In the past 1 1/2 yrs they have been the most consistent atty I have used. I have tried most of the other hyped atty's, (HH357, I06, Shifu spec), and just wasn't happy with performance overall. None of them to me, gave the vapor and flavor, (together), as consistent as the Cisco spec. from Avid. They all had one or the other the majority of the time.....
