Snuff - like pipes, snus and even - bah! - nicotine gums - just didn't work our for me. I did not even manage to reduce with them, let alone quite.

It is very easy to get, though. Pretty much every shop that carries cigarettes also carries at least some snuff.

I couldn't completely get off of cigs with just the vape. I started using snus and voila! No smoke. I now use all 3, vape, snus and snuff, my sig tells that story.

But every last bit is purchased online. I'd love to be able to walk to the corner store for a tin of schmalzler!

... I really think the nic we get is delivered differently with our pv's.

Oh most assuredly it is! Take a look in the Nicotine forum for more on that. this post from Tropical Bob just today spells the difference out well.

Then I hope its a consolation to you that for proper Bavarian Schmaltzler, I had to order online, too. The stuff is not that popular - or at least not that available - in non-Bavarian parts of Germany, which obviously are quite a bit larger than Bavaria itself.

I vape b/t 6-8mg since I DIY and that is what I found that works for me, but 24mg is what I quit smoking cigarettes with. If I had it to do over again, I would start w/18mg b/c 24mg gave me headaches -- just part of the learning curve. Thanks for the poll. It's nice to see where others are at and what works for them.

I answered 12 to the poll, since that's pretty much where I'm at. But for someone starting, unless they were a very, very light smoker, I think they'll need a higher level.

I started at 24, and couldn't get off the cigs. I cut way down, but after meals, I'd get cig cravings and vaping just wouldn't stop them. Then I got some 30mg juice. As soon as I did, quitting cigs was easy. I'd use the 24mg juice as my "all day" and after meals, I'd drip the 30mg juice.

After a week or two of doing that, not only was I cig free, but I found that I rarely needed the 30mg juice anymore. The 24mg was enough. I didn't buy a lot of 30mg juice, and I still have most of what I did buy, because I just didn't need it for long.

Now I'm smoke free for over 5 months. For the last month or two, I've been vaping 18mg juice. And I just received a 100ml bottle of 12mg. What I'm vaping right now is roughly a 50/50 mix of the last of my 18mg and the new 12mg. So assuming my non-measured mix is actually 50% of each, I'm vaping at 15mg. When that runs out, I'll be vaping 12mg. And if the switch to 12mg goes well, then in a month or two, when I have to order more, I'll try to move down to 6mg.

If I can get down to 0mg, I'll do that. If I find that I get to a point where going lower isn't working, then I'll stay there, but I'm hoping to get off the nicotine addition altogether. If I can do that, then I'll see about putting the PV aside. It would be nice to be completely free.

But if I vape the rest of my life, I'm OK with that. If I find that going below 12mg doesn't work for me, I'll do that. I'm so happy to be off the cigs, the rest doesn't worry me much.

12mg has kept me analog free since day 1. I can vap 18mg just as easy but i've never seemed to need it so i've stuck with 12.mg. Plus unlike smoking i chain vap, so if i limited it to just normal cig breakes a 18 or 24 would probably work better, but at 12 i'm pretty much taking a puff ever 5 or 6 minutes and it keeps be in good shape

I've been vaping for a month, now, and have not gone lower than 18mg. I don't even think about analogs with this level. However, I do keep a couple of 24mg juices on hand for when this life of having four special needs boys becomes overwhelming. I've only had to resort to that once, though . . . when one of my guys was having his only kidney surgically removed. That was a HUGE stressor, and 24mg hit the spot. :D

My own experiences coupled with the tone of several recent threads has me curious about the level of nicotine each of us requires to stay off of tobacco.

I'm closing in on 5 months of vaping and 4 months of being analog clean.

I started out with 12mg juice. Went up through 18 and 24mg, hit 36mg and tobacco went good-bye!

When I go to use up the remaining juice I have that is less than 36mg I get very antsy after about 1 day. 3 or 4 draws of 36mg and I'm fine.

What level of nicotine do you use to keep tobacco at bay?
36mg killed the crave for me. It's been 3+ months & I've gotten some 24mg but it just doesn't quite "get it". I figure I'll try dropping to 24 in another 3 months & see if I can hang. I cut my 36mg PG Dekang Strong Mint 50/50 with pure VG for an 18mg "before bed" vape, but I seem to just hit it more often. Go figure...
