I quit smoking on Jan 20 2011 at 5pm. I did not intend to quit..I loved smoking..smoking was my life!!! I have smoked since I was 14 year old. My BFF was diaganosed with COPD at the age of 38 on Jan 20,11 at 2:20pm...we both started smoking at the same time 14 yrs old back in 1985.
I quit the day I saw her laying in the hospital bed fighting for her life at 38 yrs old. I was ...... off & decided right then & there WE would quit smoking. I was by her side the entire time at the hospital except for the hour I left to smoke my last pack of cigs (boy did I feel guilty). I went for 2 weeks without one relying on the "patch" yet when she got out of the hospital she continued to smoke. "it's to hard" she said. I stopped, but she continued to smoke ..it really made me want to give up all together. I started researching and found ECF. I was still on the patch at the time & I still craved cigs like you wouldn't believe! OMG I wanted one soooooo bad but I wanted to so her how "easy" it was to quit & I wanted to set a "If I can do it you can to" attitude. Who was I fooling? I got my ecig in the mail and HEAVEN! I turned her on to it & she got her infinity ion in the mail 4 days ago. She is now going 5 hours in between analogs. It's a start & I'm really proud of her! Seriouly if I wouldn't have found this forum I would not have quit smoking.

I like this story, it sounds like me and my BFF; same age, same smoking habit, same start smoking age, in it together from the start. You get to a point where you've smoked most of your life -- who am I if I'm not smoking? I don't know. Every memory I have involves smoking at this point, you may as well ask me to quit eating or breathing --

That's why e-cigs work IMO, I never had to quit anything I just had to switch to a different brand. Easy.

As for my BFF, I got her a kit but it didn't take. She still smokes. Maybe if I get her a different kit, an easier one... I won't give up.

For me it's my military service. I just finished a 6 year enlistment with the National Guard and am planning on reenlisting in the Reserves, however, due to the fact that I've been smoking a pack a day or more since I was about 16 (I'm now 30) I can't keep up with the physical demands. I HAVE to stop smoking, I tried a crappy disposable e-cig yesterday, for the entire day I didn't smoke a single analog. Before the day was even over I googled e-cigs and found ECF. After spending the rest of last night and part of this morning forum trolling and doing research I ordered the Joye EGO mega and enough DIY stuff to make my own juice in a few different flavors. I'm really excited and eagerly awaiting the arrival of my vaping supplies because I must say, even after only a day with the crappy disposable, going back to analogs the next day when the disposable died sucked because they tasted like crap.

I watched my mom die of lung cancer. I thought if that didn't do it, then nothing would. I began smoking more and more. I was out of control.....burns on the carpet beside my side of the bed, burn spots in my clothes, and then I caught myself sounding like my mom when I coughed, and I had an awful cough, and I went, "Uh oh." It was going to be a matter of time before I got lung cancer. I saw e-cig commercials and thought that just might help me slow down some. I asked my spouse to do research and spouse didn't think I meant it. I had to ask him 2 more times. I was expected something to come in the mail. The 3rd time I asked, I told him never mind, that I would do it myself. Well, I finally got my Joye 510 and after cutting down or a couple of days, I was only smoking 2 analogs. I thought, "If I can smoke just 2 analogs in a 24 hour period, I can quit......so on the 3rd day, I quit tobacco. That was last July 2010. So I have not inhaled 9,250 analogs. I don't break my arm, patting myself on the back either. I'm embarrassed that I was smoking so many a day/ week/ month. Sometimes they still look good on tv. Women are emotionally tied to analogs.....why, I have no idea. Men are not. I've seen men put analogs down and that was the end of it. Not so, with many women......including me. I've had to re-commit myself to this trek as I didn't come this far to fail. So, that is why! :) Am I sorry I don't smoke anymore? Yes, from time to time. My spouse stopped cold turkey. That was 5 1/2 years ago, hence my signature verse. Well, that's it, really. I've learned many things from the board. Thank you ladies and gentleman! Your encouragement and humor has gone a long way with me!!!

I was introduced to an e-cig last December 09. Thought it was a good alternative so I got myself 2 Joye 510s and a couple of juices. But went back to analogs after a few months.

Though I've significantly cut down to 2 sticks per day, I've been wanting to totally quit it for good. I found out this January that there has been an increase of e-cig suppliers since last August last year.

I got myself 2 eGo PTs and have vaping since. And I've totally quit analogs plus smell better now :)

My first exposure to e-cigs was an ad for those cheap blu models. I was anxious to try vaping so I ordered one of their kits. Then I found this site while doing some post-purchase research and immediately canceled my order after discovering all my options. Found a supplier not too far from my house and picked up a decent starter kit (I forget the model; this was 2 or so years ago). After the warranty was exhausted, both units in the kit died within a week and I found it easier to go to the tobacco store than wait a week for a package in the mail.

I found myself wanting to give vaping another shot so I ordered a Joye Stick v3 and several sample sized juices. I hope this time it sticks!
