Did you do the shocks and struts yourself or have it done at the garage? I've never done those before. My oldest daugter's car is making a bit of a clunk noise here and there and the shop said she needs a new rack and pinion but it's ok to drive for now. She just started working after graduating and am going to wait to see what she wants to do. I'd rather see her trade into something new instead of putting another 1200 into her 05 focus. It's up to her though since I've got the youngest in college now and can't really afford to pay for it for her.

The front struts are pretty easy if you buy complete replacements. That way you're not messing around with a spring compressor. Take old ones off, bolt new ones on, then get a front end alignment.

The rear shocks are easy enough (with a truck/rear axle) if you have access to two floor jacks. One jack for the body and one on the axle to get the new shocks aligned.

It really just looks more intimidating than it is.

Having the right equipment and space to do it is another factor. I know I could have did the shocks/struts on my wife's Suburban but I just didn't have the right tools or the space needed. If I ever get around to building a polebarn next to my garage it is getting a lift in it for sure. Would make working on cars a breeze. Heck I'd even go back to doing my own oil changes.

I used to do our own oil changes and anything that I could on our vehicles but the older I get the less I want to do that stuff. I did the brakes on both of the kids cars and that's not a big deal. I did tie rod ends on the oldest daughter's car a few years ago. I have a company car so took mine in for brakes yesterday and the company paid for it. I thought I had an oil leak but the garage said it was just residue from my last oil change. That's weird because I had my oil changed over a month ago.

Having the space and equipment is certainly a big factor. I have a small 24' x 24' pole barn that's a godsend. My Dad worked on cars for a decade before getting in to GM as a trades equipment mechanic. When he passed I inherited his collection of tools suitable for everything from brakes on a car to a hydraulic cylinder on a hi-lo.

I'm still crawling around on a piece of cardboard watching my neighbor put whatever he's working on on his lift though. [emoji22]

I wonder if the squirrel on my bird feeder knows it's in season in 4 days. There was an obscene amount of squirrels running amok emptying out bird feeders and getting into everyone's trash the last few years especially. I got 12 last season and there hasn't been near as many causing trouble this year.

Funny, I don's have any issues with squirrels but last year I was overrun by chipmunks. They were dashing everywhere. I got two cats for about the last four months and no sign of the little pests. The one never left the house but the other is out a lot. This evening there were two dead baby mice left in the bedroom.

The cats are supposed to get moved away on Friday which is a bit of a curse and a blessing as mice season is right around the corner. It's funny as they just started getting used to the three dogs. Hope they like their new/old home. They're going back to where they lived prior to coming here. If I was the older one, I don't think I'd be happy. They were town cats prior to coming here. I think she's liked the adventures of having a forest to adventure in.

I also found a hacking bald faced hornets nest that was hanging way to close to my driveway. I kept envisioning a truck driver backing in with his window open, hitting the one branch that supported the nest and getting a faceful of wasps. I trimmed the branch hanging in the drive and then cut one of the branches supporting the nest. That created quite a fuss and I was glad I had a beekeeper's suit on. However, I chose to do that instead of wiping out the whole colony. They're now far enough off the drive that they should be able to complete their cycle in peace.

Looks like vaping is on its death bed thanks to all the kids using it to do things we can't talk about here. Wonderful.

The times, they are a changin.

    "Dear ECF community,

As you know, we have had a long-standing community agreement that cannabis related discussions are off limits on ECF. This has never been about any prejudice against cannabis users, but rather a desire to keep ECF single-issue focused, given the importance of vaping in tobacco harm reduction.

You’ll also be aware that there has been recently a spate of serious lung injuries in which contaminated cannabis extracts in vape form are implicated. Sadly, five people are now known to have died from using these products.

There is now approximately zero public differentiation between cannabis and nicotine vaping, despite both being very different technologies. In fact, in their recent advisory, the CDC laid the blame squarely at “e-cigarettes”, which appears to be their own chosen catch all term for vaping technologies.

Accordingly, and we know this will be controversial, we would like to open up a cannabis forum on ECF. In our view, it is now untenable and, indeed, irresponsible to be running “e-cigarette forum” and preventing cannabis consumers from talking about their products here and learning from veterans of vaping technology.
    Cannabis Vaping | E-Cigarette Forum

ECF was critical in the early days in establishing norms around the manufacturing and the use of nicotine products. It was our community that first popularised the understanding that oils should never be added to inhaled products. We hope that by including cannabis consumers in our community, we can help address some of the issues that have arisen, and prevent future issues from occurring.

As ever, we want our community to help us to decide how we evolve things going forward, for the time being there will be a specific area for discussions on this topic and some of the previously banned terms have been allowed to enable fruitful discussions. We’ll be monitoring it very closely.

Please let us know your thoughts, and if we’re even using the right terms, it’s new to us, so we need your help!"

I like the idea of allowing a discussion about it particularly with the health problems currently being talked about. I personally don't like the idea of product discussions. Establish a different web site, possibly EPF.

This out of Wisconsin might give a clue as to what's happening.

Wisconsin Man Accused in Illegal THC Vaping Cartridge Ring

The policeman involved in the arrest said that packages were labeled 5mg of THC but instead had 150 times higher potency in the bottles. Who knows what they were cutting it with as I'd hope they weren't that stupid. They also say they had a big distribution area. They bettered the Democrats though. No $15.hr wage for them. They were hiring people ar $20/hr. They were turned in by their parents. This could get really ugly for them if they get tied to the illnesses.

They were filling 5,000 pods a day.

I saw a story on yahoo today about a girl that had gotten sick. She admitted to using cannabis but the story focused on vaping as the cause of her illness. Then they interviewed the doctor and she said the vaping was the heating of "oils". Anyone who knows anything about vaping knows you don't vape oils.

Could be an interesting day, the UAW-GM contract expires at 11:59 pm tonight and I'm fairly sure we'll get forced 9 hours as usual making punch out 12:06 am. We've got our strike captains and assignments set up and it's looking like at least some locals will be walking out. Whether they pick parts pants and starve assembly plants out or have us walk and hit the big money maker HD trucks up front remains to be seen.

I think it's a reasonable idea, and knowing Oliver (I mean I don't but he appears to be reasonably business savvy) it is certainly a way to keep discussions afloat if the flavor ban happens and/or vaping DOES go underground grey/black market. I think Oliver knows that this forum drives some of his business, and he makes money from it.

Don't get me wrong, I think he SHOULD, I mean, it takes a smart business person to make things like this forum happen and etc. So.... Why not?

In any case, I don't vape CBD or the leaf, I was definitely a "let's roll something nice out of plant matter" kinda gal.

Thanks to @Doffy ! And Doffy thank you immensely! I think my next order of snus will have some white snus in it for sure. It needs to be way higher nicotine I think (but they do make it higher) but did not mind the lime at ALL in fact it was kinda nice and the snus is... IDK soft, somehow. I think there are alkaloids in it, perhaps not as many but it will be SO nice not to have to worry about talking with snus in mah mouth etc.
