From the post it felt like if they aren't vaping like I do it's an issue. I say let people enjoy life alittle without the judgements. We get enough of that from non vapors. What really gets me most about the origonal post is you're not only judging the vapors actions but who they are. Poorly dressed and tattoos. Like they must be bad people or beneath you. People like I can't stand. It's like I'll let you know when I care what you think or do you pay my rent?? Anyways now thats out of the way...

I think the biggest reason vaping is banned in public places isn't because a select few jerks rather it just being new. Cigs weren't banned because we grew up with them being a common item. Cigs having a bad stigma to them clung onto vaping. It's new and it must be bad. People are pretty tolerant of other peoples actions like smoking but if it's something new their minds race to the worst possible thing rather curiosity. I'm always wondering if people think I doing drugs.

BTW, I don't see squat what those farging iceholes as described by the OP in the OP, have to do with the regulators or any possible legislation. (Unless some one Romulans* Harry Reid right in the face.

* - "Romulans" I don't care if there already is another word for it, I'm coining a new one right here.

ROFLLMAO

Romulans! Can this be a thing... PLEASE?!?!?!?!

<sarcasm>So I was standing outside one day with my mech mod with 3 VCT5's and my 0.01 ohm octocoil minding my own business, changing weather patterns with my cumulus cloud formations when some ANTZ started giving me some lip... I took a huge lung draw and they got Romulan'ed right in the face...</sarcasm>

My inner nerd just exploded a little bit...

I see it's mostly the same everywhere. It's funny too.

The 3 B&M stores that I know in my area employ tattoed bearded vikings with buddy holly glasses who can make the sickest octocoil mod out of leftover plumbing and fill the air with frappa-mocha-latta-dappa-chappa-chino 99% VG juice but couldn't change a wheel with an impact gun and a hydraulic lift, or hand out sensible advice to people who don't want helicopters to land on their lawn because their vaping habit looks like a field LZ.

I'm not fed up with all of you. Just most of you.

I joined in 2011, have been vaping 3 years now. When I started, the cartomizer had just been invented, people were still for the most part using egos and cigalikes and the variable voltage mods has just taken off.

Now, vaping has descended into something that borders on the absurd and ridiculous. I cannot belong to any groups on facebook any longer because its filled with sub ohmnig, cloud chasing ...... who MUST have enough vape from three drags so that their living room resembles an Ozzy concert circa 1987.

I like the idea of building and rebuilding coils. There's a clear point to it. It's economical and you aren't dependent on a vendor for very long stretches of time. But does anyone need a .07 ohm coil? What exactly is a dragon coil? What is a nano coil? I quit caring or keeping up with it because after a certain point, its just too much vapor. I saw a jamoche today who had built something with 8 coils. EIGHT!!

My step-daughter attends LSU. She tells me that vaping on the campus has recently been banned outright. Not just inside but all over the entire campus. Why? Because college age vaping tards began flouting the "no smoking" policy by blowing giant clouds in the air and making a spectacle of themselves. Is there a health hazard here? most likely not, but it's still distracting.

Everyplace I go now there are poorly dressed, tattooed, pierced hipsters who've taken over and co-opted vaping. They are all snobby about it too, mentioning how great they are at sub-ohm coil building and flashing their high end gear. Here's a thought hipster...buy a slightly cheaper mod and maybe you'll be able to afford a bar of soap!

We have now, the FDA about to take away all sorts of rights and so few vapers really care about this. They aren't interested in anything but the equipment and how cool they can look vaping. PUT THE SOLDERING IRONS DOWN AND WRITE A LETTER TO YOUR CONGRESS PERSON.

Maybe I'm just getting old. Maybe my inner curmudgeon is emerging. Maybe I'm just a cynic.

Anyway, that's my rant. Flame away.

AND YOU DAMN KIDS, GET OFF MY LAWN!!

To the OP's opinions,

I do not necessarily disagree with you, however, with everything, there are groups who will take things to extremes. Much like "the Fast and Furious" rice burners in the nineties. If you think about it, there's nothing more ridiculous than dropping boat loads of cash, adding super size rims to grannies 4cylinder and dropping it to the floor, installing headers, exhaust, cold air intakes, adding negligible performance but adding 120db to the road environment for a simple wow factor.

And that is really what cloud competitions are, a wow factor. Same thing for those who do it publicly. It's the human instinct to be noticed, and accepted. There is nothing illegal about that. Should people be more respectful of others when out and about? Of course. But that topic is far beyond the scope of ECF.

I was a somewhat long haired hippie musician in the late 1960's and I'm sure people looked at me like I needed a haircut! A few years later I got a respectable job with a large corporation and had to wear a suit for most of the 36 years I worked there. While I was playing music and going to school I was preparing myself for a serious job. I have to hope that the scrungy biker type young people are doing the same!

That concerns me just like it did the older generation who looked down upon long haired hippies of my era. I'm hoping that they are investing some time in obtaining an education, too. It's hard to tell from outward appearance.

Teenagers will be teenagers, though.

I sub ohm, I submitted my FDA comment on my own as well without being shamed into it over a month ago, I do shower and I'm absolutely sick to my stomach with profiling, judgments, and stero typing!! Honestly.. just because you don't understand it, does NOT make it wrong. Your comment makes me sick and sad at the same time.. open your mind a little. You have absolutely no right to judge other people. Ever heard the tearms.their " those who live in glass houses should not throw stones"? Think about it...do you want to be judged like that?? If not, don't judge others or the stone you throw might come back to YOU..

He wasn't talking about you, you who are so easily offended. You are here, you are family.

Yeah, he wasn't talking about all of you, just most of you (as stated in the first line of OP).

The good thing about cloud chasers is now when I vape, indoors, in public, with respect and if someone busts me (for my first time ever), instead of my go to claim being, "I'm not smoking, it's just water vapor," I can now say, "hey, I'm not even cloud chasing."

Reply With Quote would help direct the comment to a particular post. I wasn't sure who you were replying to. I hope it wasn't me, but I made the last post before yours.

I am myself a pretty dedicated metalhead and also an office worker. Let's just say I get puzzled looks on fridays. Teenagers will be teenagers though and that's true, and we love them for it, but as far as working retail and giving advice on hip subjects, they aren't the most objective.

Now that's some funny stuff. Sadly though, my local B&M is much the same. The guy who owns it was a top executive at one of those Fortune 500 companies and traded in his 401k to start a vape shop back in 2008. I suspect his intentions were admirable no doubt. However, his journey seems to have led him on a wayward path, at least for a graying 45 year old. Perhaps it's a mid-life crisis thing, but it's hilarious to watch.

He went from this Clark Kent looking guy to a baggy, always dark grey, below the knee, short wearing "gangsta". He even announces on Facebook, "We're having a gangsta party at the vape shop" every other Saturday. I've witnessed him go from advising Vision Spinners and MVP's to new vapers to basically giving them the snub when they walk into his shop.

And, you can't get any help there. All these other "gangsta" wanna bee's are constantly swarming around the counter showing their coil builds that look like truck springs. I quit going in there after witnessing him yell at a female customer in a threatening manner. I guess he had to show her who Da Bossman was.

I am going to assume that the OP was never a twenty something, never made any mistakes or got a speeding ticket or drank to much and made a fool of himself. I am also going to assume that he has always know what to do in every situation all the time, has never gotten distracted while doing something that has caused anyone else any discomfort ever. I am also going to assume that because he has been so careful, respectful, overly mindful that up until now everyone has said "wow look at that respectful man, lets make sure we dont do aaaaaanyting to bother him"

I doubt it. It sounds like you think we should live in a liberal utopia where everyone acts like perfect little squares.

In all honesty, if someone is directly blowing vape in your face, its probably sure annoying, but so are alot of other things. People need time to grow up. And did you.

PS this thread kinda reminded me of this story hahahaha Man: I bought every pie at Burger King to spite whining brat | News - Home

I understand your outburst.

I have tried subohm setups and whatnot on friend's gear and it was amazing the amout of fog you can cram in yourself without the slightest throat hit. Not mentionning the crushing nicotine delivery. Honestly loved it but wouldn't go as far as to make one. That's just me.

But subohming isn't the default advice you should get from a store when you're wondering which coils to choose from between 1.8 and 2.2 for your EVOD, that's mostly what the thread is about. Give or take a few stereotype jokes and rants.

I'll take you up on that, I got sagged out springs left from an old 60's full size barge that could use a good round of sandblast, hundreds of clean shop rags, an old stainless beer keg and a good gasoline generator.

To each their own....

My kids ( one is and her guy )gauged. Pierced..tattooed hipsters. So I "get it".

Truth be told I enjoy them. I had great fun weekend last st the local B&M's Cloud Contest Event..

There's always those in any age group that are obnoxious and mess things up for the rest if us..but most are just respectful vapers having fun with it..just like me.

I'm late to the thread (always!) and haven't read the whole thing, but from some one who's been kickin around the community for some years now...

We were vaping under the threat of the FDA killing it back 5 1/2 years ago, when we were using crappy toy-like cigalikes and building our own true mods out of candy tins and flashlights. We were then virtually cloudless.

FDA intervention has been inevitable for many years now. Public image means nothing . It's all big business and tax interests. Was then, is now.

I've done my part thru CASAA , but regulation is inevitable.

Sigh.

i agree with the OP, for the most part

when i started vaping over two years ago i did it because work banned cigarettes at work...ppl genuinely accepted me vaping even at bars because even though i wear boot cut jeans, timberlands, have diamonds in my ears, i'm clean cut, usually have a button down or polo on and look relatively clean and don't shove my hobbies down ppls throats.....however i go back to the same bars now and they hate vapors, why? because vapors have becoming annoying, i hear from close friends that work there that the kids won't shut up about it and talk like they are experts, it's the smugness hipster vibe they give off that makes ppl mad, a bartender who never smoked doesn't want someone at the bar talking to them about what dripper they have and what liquid they are using

heck i wrote a blog article about it when i went to a food park thing in brooklyn and then a flea market in philadelphia and the ppl there made me sick with how they dressed like slobs and talked with their smug attitudes and that has nothing to do with vaping, it's this new culuture of kids...and i'm in my 20's! my buddy made a comment about how it's cool to "these people are trust fund babies who dress this way because they never had anyone question anything they did because they had money"

i've also touched on how i'm not a fan of going to local b&m's because even if my weekend tshirt and jeans attire i am the cleanest looking person in the place, i couldn't picture either of my parents who don't smoke going in there and feeling comfortable when the customers look like they don't care about their health by how they present themselves, the employees are supposed to be trusted when they look worse than someone whos hungover?

it just reminds me of my teenage years when i used to ride BMX and most people thought we were trouble makers, the stereotype was right, most of us were trouble makers, stereotypes are what they are because they are mostly accurate, as a teenager we'd go to a local cafe that had punk bands play and even though i kind of fit in i could never blame people for judgeing them, they had no one to blame but themselves by the way they looked and acted

which leads me to feel this way, if someone saw a bunch of pbusrado's vaping somewhere they probably wouldn't say much or think as negative because he looks to be a clean guy, professional, and respectable in nature....then you see someone like rip tripper with his goofy beard, his spuratic voice, and know it all attitude not shutting up about the space invader coil he just built, what do you expect is going to happen!

overall if vapers are going cry and whine about being accepted and not hated on, then clean yourself up, dress nicer, and improve on your interaction skills
