Would you still vape if all you could buy was unflavored e-liquid?

Yes, I know DIY is easy. But pretend this is one of those stranded on a deserted island scenarios with no flavoring available.

I always add flavor to my DIY e juice, so if this is a deserted island where did the unflavored e juice come from? Pretending I brought my VG and liquid nic but ran out of food flavoring and was on a deserted island, I'd just look for some type of berries or fruit and squeeze the juice out and use it for flavoring.

In a theoretical situation in which flavored nicotine juice was no longer available and there is no 'work around' for it, I would still vape unflavored to keep me from smoking cigarettes, but I would probably vape a lot less than I do now. One of the things I enjoy most about vaping are the different flavors you can try. I vape 6mg now and probably wouldn't have a problem dropping down to 3mg. Eventually, I hope to vape nicotine free but at this point, I feel like a little bit doesn't hurt. So basically if I had to choose between flavorings and nicotine, it would be flavorings. But luckily, we can have both right now so it's all gravy.

Vaping only unflavored would certainly save me a lot of money though. I'd probably care less about vaping overall and only have 2 mods and one huge bottle of juice that will never run out because I will vape even less than I do now. Right now my desk is covered in half empty bottles of juice.

Tonight I am vaping two different tobacco extracts, Virginia Spice and Peter Stokkebye 80 Norwegian blend. A little pipe tobacco and some pg or vg at room temp in a jar. Let it sit for a month and filter. Blend with the unflavored. Good stuff, simple, inexpensive.

This.

How can 'they' even dream of 'banning vaping', when we can vape e-liquid extracted from tobacco itself - something, of course, 'they' will never ban ??

Let's see... I have bought some pipe tobacco. I have paid the person who sold it. I have paid the 'sin taxes' already - that's really the problem with vaping: the loss of revenue...

Written question - Tax revenue from electronic cigarettes - E-004672/2013

From that moment forward, that tobacco is MINE. I could choose to just toss it away, if I wanted to.
Is there ANY law to make me use that tobacco in the WORST possible way - smoking it?
What if I decided to simply chew it? Could authorities prevent me from doing that?

If not, then why cannot I simply make an extract from that tobacco, which is MINE, already paid for and TAXED for, and use it in a much less harmful way - vaping that extract?

Why should BG stick his nose in my personal life? Why should BG get a vote when I make a PERSONAL, ADULT, INFORMED decision to choose an healthier option - for me, and for those around me?

I have already been in negotiations with the maker of my ADV to buy a 55-gallon drum of my ADV if this happens.

Yep! I still haven't had anyone show me where the "flavors" section is in the deeming regulation. It's all speculation at this point. Something for people to make a fuss over.

I think the speculation is because of similar regulations that have been put in place for cigarettes.

It's hard to say at this point whether I would stop vaping if flavoring was discontinued. Frankly, I don't see why that would even be an issue and what it has to do with kids. If the government chooses to be .... about it and make an issue where none exists then I suppose they will do just that. I would rather have teenagers vape than kill themselves with a myriad of toxic carcinogens, that's how I feel at least. I don't think I would want to puff on flavorless liquid, it would take away from the pleasure and sense of vaping.

Somewhere out there
They speculation of flavors being banned was fueled by an interview with FDA director Zeller
where he said -

“What we have done today with this proposed rule is foundational. We can’t get to issues like advertising on television or what to do about the flavors in e-cigarettes until we have jurisdiction over them. And we can’t have jurisdiction over them until we complete this rule-making. This is a very important first step.”

Mitch Zeller, Director – FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products - 24 April 2014

Yes, I'd still vape as I'm still (and probably always will) using vaping as a nicotine replacement so the flavor while it's a great added bonus, it's really the nicotine replacement for me for which vaping is in our lives in our home.

However, if it was the nicotine that was banned then surely I wouldn't bother vaping anymore as really I don't even like to be seen vaping in public and so to do it just for the flavor, well... I might as well just go to the penny candy store and stock up on some of my favorite flavored hard candy. For me it's rather pointless (again... for me) to vape for just the flavor when I could just gob down on a piece of hard candy and get all the flavor that I want.

Isn't it amazing how nobody has any problem with flavored alcohol, though? Nobody is raising hell about the coconut flavored cheap vodka. IT CAN APPEAL TO CHILDRENNNN. Or at least insecure teenage girls.

In Japan I have seen flavored alcoholic drinks sold in juice box or Capri sun type containers with colorful writings and drawings on them

I am hopelessly addicted to nicotine ... and vaping 18mg juice has kept me completely off cigarettes for 6 straight months now with no relapse (something I was never able to do before finding vaping).

Although I would really miss the flavors, I would vape unflavored nic juice if that's all that was available to me.
