I'm actually most surprised that I heard nothing back from my last email, which was admittedly very angry in tone and nature.

Later tonight I expect to get an opportunity to speak with Kat. I will get her opinion of whether or not to share all the communications that have taken place here, for anyone to read for themselves. I believe that potential buyers might be enlightened by some of the things I was told, versus what was eventually presented. The part where they ask me to pay for repairs* is particularly entertaining, especially when you see the history of the messages between us.

* "Repairs" for a mod that presented a sticking button after being used for no more than a few hours.

If I am to do this, it will definitely not happen until tomorrow (unless she talks me into it tonight). I'm not sure why but I'm inclined to give them a full 24 hours to reply. Foolish, yes - I know.

I'm not sure why I'm still trying to do the right thing here, but can only assume that I'm hoping that I haven't thrown $505 down the drain. So, selfishly, I refrain...

@Katdarling - that idea I had about getting a couple of Merkavas? Yeah, no. We'll find something to spend THAT money on.

Don't worry. I have a nasty feeling that we are all going to get screwed. If they can't get the original to work correctly, what chance does a clone of the original have???

(sigh)

I sure hope not. Who knows? Maybe it will turn out to be better. I did notice that it has a spring loaded pin; and yes, I know that means that it's not hermetically sealed. But, quite honestly - I don't care.

What an awesome mod too, especially with the Kabuki. How sweet that would have looked with SS buttons & cap.

Heartbroken, seriously.

How can I even keep this one after all this? Kat and I had planned this for MONTHS. Joked about the wait, even predicted (and had fun with) the "9 1/2 Weeks" wait...

Then it all went awry - blew up in our faces. And I can't say that she didn't try to warn me (to wait a while), because she did. I should have listened.

First off, merkava schmerkava at this point. It's a big no. Secondly, yes, time permitting we can definitely discuss and determine what value our situation may hold for other likely buyers, if any.

I'm broken hearted for you, Longolino. :( It would have been sweet, and it would have been amazing to share our "9 1/2 weeks" party a bit more fully.

We are NOT smarter. We just know how to better practice my favorite exercise: delayed gratification ;)

And we fill sweaters betterz.

I have been assured by 3f rep on another thread they found no issues on the units they shipped out.

I have no further comment ..... just relaying info forwarded to me

@Katdarling and @DPLongo22 -

I just can’t believe what is happening especially with all the joking we just did a few days ago. I went through my emails and found this as a result of my questioning the issues. You may recall I asked about the button sticking where it gets stuck and continually fires. I also pointed out the button and the hole on the mod could be the issue that is causing this. I mentioned the Evolv DNA40 chip not turning off temperature control. The email I received is dated 22SEP. Although he states they will replace for free, I am now wondering if this is true. Obviously I am very interested in your issue as I have an order pending whether you publicize it or PM me. I placed my order on 21SEP so just a little over a week ago. If need be, I will not hesitate to cancel it especially if they are a company that does not keep its word. Here is what I received from the MiniEcig team:

"Yes, we check the items before the shipment. If there are any troubles we'll replace the item for free.
The problem with the button can be solved by some cleaning.
XvoSticks have standard DNA40 chips by Evolv. New XvoStick, the one that will be shipped to you, have atty lock feature in them, old ones have a previous version of DNA40.
Evolv give 1 year warranty for the chips, you can contact us or Evolv directly in case there are problems with electronical parts.”

I don’t know what the costs involved are and I can only surmise it is nothing to sneeze at nor whether they stated to you at some point that if there are troubles they will replace for free.

The whole thing was very odd, especially when I went back and read the history between us, since this all began. I will report back to you, assuming I hear back from them tomorrow.

It's taking everything in my power, along with a calming talk from KD, to just sit back and wait right now.

In the meantime, and in my frustration, I went ahead and traded a Billet Box package, that I was going to sell, for a Railbox. Railbox was the other option for us when we eventually decided on the Xvo (preferable form factor). Now, I will compare the two, and Kat and I will likely share (one will have the brass Xvo, the other will have the Railbox). We'll switch periodically (as we've done with our Billet Boxes on occasion).

It's certainly been one heckuva day. That email from Mini this morning just set a WHOLE bunch of stuff into a chain reaction.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring. :pop:

And just a bit more specifically, regarding the issue of the button, why would a brand new unit (literally only used for a few hours) require a cleaning? I actually have an email from them basically acknowledging the fact that there was likely a problem with the sizing of the hole.

Uh-oh, I'm not doing the "sit back and wait" thing so well, am I?

OK (sorry Kat), I'll go to sleep now. I shall return tomorrow.

Nite nite, Longolino. ;)

NSM, et al, should it prove to be helpful, at some point we will gladly and willingly share with you a bit of an historical trek thru Mini-Ecig land.

Right now, I think it best to still give them the opportunity to reply to us. Should that NOT happen.......

........ put on your hard hats. And buckle up. It's going to be one hellova ride.

I have been paying attention to it and my button seems to have broken in. I have no issues with the action for the past 3 days or so ... will keep posted if the problem returns.

@NotSoMini - Mini can't help the TC glitch on the dna 40, but I did post a link a few pages back that I can confirm works. My chip has the glitch I was able to do the fix.

For the record, my 'stick does have the latest dna 40 including atty lock. Other than the 30sec inconvenience of having to fix the TC glitch my board works flawlessly (and I'm liking it more and more than my YiHi chips every day)

In the meantime! My Parish holder came in ...

IMAG0240_1.jpg

The leather is soft and veeerrryyy comfortable to hold. Since the stick is so small I actually appreciate the added girth. The leather adds a bit of texture which I find tends to hold the mod in place when in my pocket. Pressing the fire button through the window in the leather feels a little weird at first, but I quickly adjusted and I have not had a problem trying to fire the mod. Like I said I'm super clumsy so I like that I can be a little more careless with the Xvostick when I have other things in my hands and especially when setting the mod down. The mod is fully functional with the holder on - including charging and the screen.

As you can see the stitching and cut/fit of the leather is great with no glaring flaws. The mod is easy to slip in and out but does not do so freely (it is secure). This is a beuatiful way to protect a gorgeous mod ...

Say it ain't so.......I really hope they made a mistake somewhere in communication...if not please share..cause this is important info to have before ordering!

Thanks, dru.... that means a lot (to both of us).

As soon as we get thru the meat of this, we'll share the recipe. ;)

drippa, normally I don't care all that much for cases/holders/pouches, but that looks fantastic! Congrats and enjoy it!

I have been lurking here for a while as I ordered my xvo on the 30th August and was hoping to share the joy whilst waiting (!!) I emailed as mine is still not on it's way and have just had an reply - it will be another week but more importantly they have said the new batch have smaller buttons to resolve sticking issue (I specifically asked). Really hope your issues are resolved @DPLongo22 @Katdarling and hope I don't regret not cancelling

Thanks for the support, @kates. I'm surprised they admitted an issue with the buttons, but am glad to see that they did.

Seriously? It's such an awesome device that I wouldn't recommend anyone cancels their order. I'm a great believer in chemistry, and the fact of the matter is that ours (Mini & Me) must just be bad.

Their emails were misleading, at best, and way too infrequent to satisfy me. But that doesn't mean they're bad for everyone, just for me.

I truly hope that NOBODY has a similar experience to me. But yes, my dealings with them are done forever.

I think their stuff is good for anyone inclined to tinker with things themselves. If you're like me, and just want stuff to work, there might well be better options.

And it's truly as nice to use as it appears. You're going to love it, especially if they truly are using different buttons (I can't help but wonder).

Now, I don't know if I totally misunderstood them, but I did receive a message this morning. They're now saying that they did not ask me to pay for repairs, so maybe they just meant that I'd have to pay for return shipping? I don't know, but have asked them to clarify a portion of their email from yesterday.

The correspondence is below, and my recent reply is up top (with their message from this morning at the very bottom).

I'm obviously going to take what I can get, at this point, at it was nice of them to add in a Merkava as compensation. I will leave this be, and see what/when we get in return.

As for their thoughts that I was only returning one of the two sticks, I could not have been more clear that both were being returned. Maybe it's a langauge barrier? Again, I do not know.

If I misunderstood you, then I apologize. Please though, explain the sentence that I highlighted in red (below), from your message yesterday.

Hi David,

We can ship you the new XvoStick as a replacement of the one which was not firing. That is because this XvoStick was not in use.
The second one with a sticking button was in use and we can only repair it and ship back to you.
I am very sorry for mixing all up as I first thought there is just one stick we need to replace, and you managed to resolve the problem with the button by yourself.
We can ship you one new XvoStick right now, and the second one after repair but you need tp pay extra money in this case. In fact the parcel with the XvoSticks is somewhere in Israel and I am sure we'll get it soon. Then we will repair the XvoStick and ship both items back to you this very day. Is that OK?
Hope for your understanding.

Have a nice day,
MiniEcig team

Hi David,

I am very sorry, I understand your dissapointment.
We never requested you to pay for the item to be repaired. There should be some misunderstanding. We'll replace the buttons and that will do the job.
We have checked the parcel a couple of days ago, it was not there, we'll check it once again today, and if it arrived we will repair it and ship tomorrow.
We'll ship you a free Merkava as a compensation. Sorry once again.

Have a nice day,
