Eh, I love TJ. He seems like a fantastic human being and I always truly enjoy his videos. I always learn something too. I don't mind since I have more free time than most. Glad it worked out for you. :)

I couldn't agree more, especially with the part about him being a great person. The level of depth he goes in to with not only building, but also wicking is just fantastic. I emailed him last night because of my issue trapping the wire with the stock screw, and he emailed me back in a half hour with his recommendation. Wow. Just wow.

What kills the silverplay for me (although they show pictures of variations) is that big metal section that comprises 90% of the tank. You can't see when you are running out of juice, and with something that eats up juice so quick, that is something I would consider necessary. What were they thinking? So, out of the box, without any tank modifications, I decided on the Goblin. If the silverplay had come out of the box with a tank like, for example, the billow, I would be buying that one, hands down, no questions asked. But.... it doesn't.

Picture for anyone who doesn't know what I am talking about.

I currently have the SilverPlay and did write a review for it, I know about the "Ugly metal tank" issue and I agree however...here comes the big kick in the pants is that its compatible with 90% of kayfun and Russian 91% parts out there. Which means that if you don't like something then pick up a kayfun or Russian mod kit and change it.

Yes you'll have to change the chimney and it may reduce airflow by a tiny bit however it will give you what your looking for at minimal cost to vapor production and air flow. Also I've heard that the Orchard parts work on the SilverPlay but I'd confirm that first as well.

I know that I may be tossing the lit torch in a bonfire pile on this one but I prefer the SilverPlay for functionality and mod-ability of the device. Just a thought.

I agree, as long as your vape is safe, there are many correct answers. 31 flavors and all that. I'm not a KF guy, so that aspect is lost on me. The last thing I need is a reason to buy yet more vape stuff, lol.

That's fantastic. I'm glad to hear that.

Yeah I am aware it works with Kayfun (and possibly Orchid) parts, and that's why I added in the "out of the box, without modifications" part. I wish I had a box of spare kayfun parts laying around, but unfortunately I don't, and that's why I chose the Goblin. Straight out of the manufacturers packaging, I think it's a better design. It's a great piece when built right.

I thought the only difference between coarse and fine was the pitch?

The pitch on the screws for the Goblin is 0.4, which is M2 coarse.

This is all from just reading up on the topic for the last day. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I may very well be wrong, my goblin is full at the moment so I can/r look . Please pardon me if I am in error I just cringe at the thought of someone putting a coarse into a fine hole.

Ah, okay. "Coarse" actually means the distance between the threads, not the quality of manufacturing.

I don't remember when I ordered, but a while ago. I got it today. Edit: Looks like I ordered it on the 13th.

Pretty good RTA if you ask me. No big deal building with 26 ga Kanthal at .5 ohms. Only thing is, I'm getting dry hits. Not too often, but if I chain vape it, it happens. What have you guys found the wicking trick is with these?

I wicked with cotton, and cut the wicks so they are somewhat thin and just sit in the channel.Doesn't look like the chimney is squeezing them.

I have a fair amount of cotton in mine. It just barely reaches the bottom of the channels and I get bubbles after each hit, and no dry hits even chain vaping. My build is 9 wraps 26g on the screwdriver it came with ohms out @ .45 . I use my stingray most of the time but regulated I run it at 18watts and it is very warm with good flavor and tons o vapor.

The 510 threads on mine are pretty rough and there's a gouge at the bottom. I wish the quality was better on this. I would have gladly paid an extra $20 for better QC.

Threw 26g 2mm 6 wrap and it came out to 0.4 ohm on my Sig100+

In comparison to my Lemo (26g parallel at same ohm), it produces quite a bit more vapor, but is a LOT warmer at the same wattage, at least for this current build.

Anyone else in the first SmogLA group buy hear anything? Last I saw, the factory was shipping on the 27th, and they were supposed to reach LA within three or four days after that, but I haven't seen an update or anything.

Hi
Not from SmogLA but, I ordered from VaporTek on the 20th. I sent a message yesterday asking about shipping and got this reply:

We are very sorry for the delay that UD has delivered us. These will departing China Monday. UD had a supply issue with the demand of this product. We will be able to ship sometime next week.

Vapor Tek USA Care Team

The follow-up indicated they were not pleased...

Eh, it sucks for sure, but a trip to Home Depot or Fastenal and you'd have enough spare screws for a lifetime. I wouldn't let it ruin my week. A day, perhaps, and especially if HD was closed when I needed spares. Remember these are low-cost authentics with previously unseen performance characteristics. You're not spending $150+ on these guys, a few bucks in screws (to me) is an acceptable additional investment.

One of these days, I'm going to make a list of screw sizes for my atties and order from fastenal. Since I primarily have clones, the screws that I haven't filed all kind of suck.

How one sets the airflow on this truly determines the flavor production and the material you wick it with will play a big part as well. I have my own on order but I used a friend if mine for a day or 2 as he has 2 of them he bought one for his lady and she didn't like it as much as she thought she would she says it produces to much vapor for her LOL! He didn't want to sell it said he would keep it for a backup but let me try it to see if I wanted one and I'll say this it is easy peasey to build and is versatile if you looking to cloud chase without having to drip it will get it done if you want to flavor chase it will get it done too. Out of all the newer high airflow RTA's out right now this and the Billow are the top 2 in my book followed by the Delta II. I ran a .3 ohm build on this with some cotton man angel hair cotton and got outstanding flavor out of it with a 10/90 apple bread pudding juice. I also was running it @ 75 watts on a Sig 100watt box if that makes any difference. I love it love it love it!!!!! Can't wait until mine get's here as I'm kinda bummed out from having to return the borrowed one.

Holy ..... 75 watts? Can it really keep up with that kind of power? Also, how well did the insulator hold up to that kind of heat?

Do you notice a flavor difference between the two?

It's hard to say because I'm kind of sick at the moment and can't taste all that much.
It seems that the Goblin is slightly better, but it seems unlikely since everyone else is saying the opposite.
There is some resistance jumping with this... 0.3-0.5. Maybe the wire isn't being held as firmly as I thought, or it could be something else.
