Been watching the Berry College Eagles and it looks as though there will be a hatching some time very soon.

We're hoping for tonight as it there already is a pip and possibly another........love this, just love it!

Someone posted on their F/B that there may be a second pip.......

I'd love to watch it, but my eyes are growing weary.......but I'll try for a bit more time!

mama eagle has her head tucked into her feathers and is taking a lil snooze right now

For those who may be interested....;)

On their F/P page, there was an announcement and I can't believe I missed it........just wasn't paying close enough attention evidently.
*******************************************************************************************************************************************
The Berry Eagle Family is pleased to announce the arrival of B6 at 7:34:41 (approx.) EST. If you listen closely when Mom Berry moves around you can hear chirping from the new eaglet. Better pictures tomorrow in daylight.

Now, I'm seriously going to bed......hubby is already there!

Not too long ago I regaled you all with memories of my time as a roller skating car hop .....hoping that more of you would begin to tell us some of your stories as well. Some of you have.....I'd love to see more. How else can we begin to really know each other?

a couple of days ago I posted Bojangles and a clip of the actual Bill "Bojangles" Robinson. Somebody else posted another video by someone else doing the same song. It was written by Jerry Jeff Walker and while he used the name Bojangles, the character in the song was fictional. There have been many cover recordings of that song, but the one I remember most, and which is a special memory for me was done by Sammy Davis Jr.

Sammy was appearing at Harrahs Reno, and one of the guys in the house band told him about a non-profit juvenile drug rehab that was working hard to help his son. Sammy picked up the phone and the calls went out. The Coliseum was booked for Sunday afternoon, the publicity was taken care of and on Sunday.....every entertainer, big room or lounge act in the Reno-Tahoe area showed up to perform. They'd worked sets and shows late into Saturday, were appearing for free.....and they all came. There were even a couple who weren't appearing anywhere but owned homes in the Tahoe area and at the time were in residence there. Sammy opened that show with Bojangles. All proceeds went to Omega House..... I know how this all came about....and I went to that afternoon show because.....my husband was the director of that rehab for the kids.

Yiddle, that's an incredible story!

You're making me feel guilty for not sharing my stories. But, I honestly don't have any. My life has been very boring. All the trauma and excitement was internal. Nothing to see or tell about.

But, you do have some great stories!
wahoooooo that's so great!! Will be wonderful to have you back in the hangout again too!
Yup.

Not trying to make you or anyone feel guilty, and I don't think any of us have lived boring lives if we stop to think about it a bit. I've been some places, done and seen some things....but so has everyone here. To try to tell all the stories of one's life....would take several more lifetimes....;) Everybody has humorous, scary, or interesting things that have happened to us. Some of us may have had tragedies...others may have been fortunate enough to only have close brushes with such things. We may not feel our experiences are unique ourselves, but to others who haven't had the same experience....there are stories worth telling. And.....I'm going to repeat myself here.....sharing our little bits is how we come to know each other...... :)

Not too long ago on this thread, a simple question on what saddle oxfords are called brought out some very interesting responses. Who wore them....when and why....memories of those dreaded shoes elicited some little stories from a few of us ;)

When music videos are posted.....does a song make you happy....sad....or does it make you feel like fingernails on a chalkboard ?? There are little stories tied to those...where you were when you first...or last...heard it. What it was that now evokes those emotions in you upon hearing that song again....

Shoot....didn't mean to write a book here, just wanted to encourage everyone .....you DO have things you can share. Real life IS stranger and more interesting than fiction :D

yiddleboge6 wants stories of our lives. OK....I'll bite. This is the first.

I was the kid who was barely a year old and wouldn't keep my little paws out of the electric sockets. I also kept unplugging the fan, and wouldn't stop until my father firmly swatted the little paws. I was the kid who, in the first grade, had to put her nose in a circle on the chalkboard because she wouldn't stop talking. I was the kid who had a serious case of the measles when I was in second grade. I had fever so high that I was hallucinating. My mother had to take the picture of Jesus down in my room because I swore he wouldn't stop looking at me. They also had to take away my Teddy Bear because he kept attacking me.

After the measles, I went back to school and decided I didn't want to be there, so at recess, I politely walked home and started playing in the yard. I was the kid in the fourth grade who put her head down on her desk and cried when they told us that John F. Kennedy had been assassinated. I remember being glued to the television set during the funeral.

I was the kid who, in the sixth grade, kept a journal and wrote my impressions of every single kid in the class. Some jerk boy stole my journal and let everybody read it. I got in a bit of trouble for that one. Those seem to be the things I remember the most about my elementary school years.

The postman busted me when I stuffed some toast in an envelope and addressed it to "Suzanne"
I had a crush on her and wanted to get rid of some honeyed toast I didn't want.
I wrote Suzanne on the envelope, stuffed in the toast, put it in the box and forgot all about it.

The stories come out in the course of the conversation.
ETA: I just told one on the Front Porch because that's where the conversation led me.

Ok, there's a story in that! I have a vivid memory of coming home from school in first grade one day, (there was no kindergarden), & my Mother asking what I had learned that day. I informed her that she had been spelling my name wrong & she needed to stop spelling it with 2 n's. I was learning to read & write & learning it phonetically. We had not gotten to the part about silent letters. I had brain freeze when I thought that both n's had to be pronounced & to spell it the way it was pronounced meant there could only be one n. I didn't want to be called Ken-n-a so it had to be Kena. I was pretty upset & all Mom, you are a grown up, why don't you know this, didn't you pay attention in school, & you call me Kenny but that's not my name & you spell that wrong, too. How can I trust you to teach me anything? Be honest...are you stupid? Because I can get Daddy to teach me. I was pretty mad. I learned about silent letters the next day, went home & told her how glad I was that she wasn't lying to me when she told me she wasn't stupid & that I was glad Dad wasn't either. I had "discussed" all this with Dad, too.
Oh, & now I'm a Vaper who knows how to spell & pronounce the words in my diy recipes, & am okay with the way hana modz spells their name. I'd better be, it's written on all my mods(z).
That's for you, Yiddle.

A BIG.....

It's much appreciated !!! Going beyond our daily aches, pains, meds and the weather....opening up a bit about ourselves....though difficult for those who are inherently shy....is a big step towards developing friendships as opposed to just being aquaintances, and allowing us all to have more meaningful discussions about a myriad of topics....;)

This is a virtual Porch. Where conversations take place over beverages & ejuice. Everything in your post above is already occuring as a natural part of the ongoing conversation. If the conversation becomes boring to you then find a conversation you find more interesting, or simply start talking about what ever does interest you. Other's will join in if also interested. We share experiences & stories as they come up in the course of conversation & as we are comfortable doing so. Nothing will make me clam up & walk away faster than someone demanding that I expose my life story on command. Ain't happening. That's not even interesting conversation.

I think Yiddle is just encouraging such opening up, I've not read her demanding anything. Kinda like a first date, where each says to the other something like "tell me about yourself."

And as you say, various bits and pieces do come out in "normal" interactions here. And at the same time, I really liked her telling about her interactions with Mr. Davis!

Sorry, Miles treated us to brunch with our son and DIL. It was very nice, but when we were leaving Mike said he didn't feel well. Turns out he got a fever after we got home. I think he probably had the same intestinal bug that's been going around. Jeez, we just got over being sick and now this. Miles and his mom just had it so maybe that's where Mike picked it up. Fortunately it only lasts 24 hrs or so.
