What did she get I desperately need a new kitchen knife set. My ancient sheffield steel ones I was given in 1984 have finally reached the unsharpenable state.
I think Janet might have already answered ... the brand is MAC ... they make various styles and sizes. Her's is a 10 inch blade like this one.

I can only say that if you are in the market for a large knife, I find a cook's knife to be much easier to use than a chef's knife. There is just a lot more distance below the handle and the cutting edge. J.A. Henckels is a reliable brand, but not the only good one.
Yep ... totally agree ... our 1st set were carbon steel blades. Easy to sharpen and held an edge OK ... but dang ... had to take real good care of them as the pitted and rusted quickly if not cleaned and thoroughly dried after each use. We replaced those w/ J.A. Henckels and they've served real well for many years. Our daily use knifes are actually a set of Cutco steak knifes. These many years old and still cut quite well.
My recommendation would be to get training and then practice, practice and practice. Then continue to get more training.
One of the times we went to take a local Concealed Carry class, my wife's first class, one of the older ladies in the class had a small .380 and the instructor had to load it for her and rack the first round for her, each time! She was getting her CC because her son wanted her to get it. He had bought the gun for her and the first time she had handled it was in the class. She did get her CC.
Nice!
For the last few years I was in the Navy I carried a .45 Colt. I said that when I retired I was never going to carry a .45 again. For my EDC, I now have a Rock Island Armory .45, I could not afford a Colt, (never say never). Every now and then I will carry my Beretta 90-Two in .40. I no longer own a 9mm. I have done a bit of personal research and the 9mm is nice with less recoil and higher round capacity. However, I really prefer the 45. Like the Marine Captain, who gave me some training in the use of, well, gave me some training. He used to say, "use a 45, shooting twice is just plain silly. My wife really liked carrying her Ruger P89 in 9mm and could just about do as well as I could with my Beretta. Of course, I was the one that taught her. When we would go to the range, I would set up a tactical course for us. They complained when I did it at our local range so we started going to a public range at a local Wildlife Reservation that is not far from us. We still used our local range for long gun use and poking holes in paper.
he, he, ... a friend carries a 1911 .45 ACP. If anyone asked him why that 'big' a gun he replies - they don't make a .46
You'd be surprised at what you can do if your life or the life of your loved ones is in danger. Years ago when my children were still very young, an intruder broke into my home while we all were at home. I'll tell the story later when I get going. Right now I'm ripping and running trying to leave for work like I should have done last night. I'll get there eventually.
You best get back here soon and finish the story lady. Yes you do.
Once upon a time......I turned the heads of every competitor at a trap shooting tournament, and........I didn't even have a gun
I think I could still find a way to stand out on the Gun Range....sans Pink gun......![]()
So instead of locked and loaded ... you was packed and stacked?
