Yep the STM I have one more to change over to the V2 then all seven that I use for TC will have Unkamen wire and the V2 rba deck. Their newest air valve sucks though I don't know why they changed it. You can make it work but they had it down when they first came out with the dual air flow. The biggest single hole on each side was just right for me. Now they are too tight on any setting except wide open I have to put it so 1 hole and part of the wide open is showing. I don't understand the change but I was told it was for the Tootle Puffers.

Absolutely. They were one of the first albums, other than kids records, that my parents got me. I was about 9 I guess.
Well, I quoted this post but can't remember what group was being referred to. I think it had something to do with Rocky Horror Picture Show? If so, I wanted to say that I've got too much repressed Protestant in my dna to have been able to get into it. I went a couple of times to see midnight showings. How did I feel about it? Was glad when it was over and could go back to my apartment.

Self-analysis and questioning time: Mom was so much more capable than me of appreciating "new" stuff, while the ability to carry a tune was strictly on my Dad's side. Very confusing. I found the Beatles disturbing when I first heard them on Ed Sullivan. When Mom bought Beggar's Banquet for me as a gift in 1968 or early 1969, I couldn't have been less grateful, asking if she got the album from the discount bin at the grocery store. When I discovered my love for the Rolling Stones just a few short months later, the last thing that occurred to me was giving my Mom some credit. Ah, but I was so much older then... I'm younger than that now. Love ya Mom, you were ahead of your time. RIP.

LOL! Casket Weaver was a bullfrog! ... Wait... that was delayed.
I never understood a single word you said but I helped you drink your wine. I had a major psychedelic experience when I first heard that song on the radio.

Proof that the answer is a definitive YES...
Dunno. Looks more like brush than woods to me.

The Sub tank mini has worked out real good for me, by the time Im done with it the letters will be ..... off, lol.

Ive seen a few of these new mods online that look kind of fragile, thats one reason I was considering building the box myself or finding a solid DIY kit.
My ipv4s is yihi and is great, good solid mod that can take a beating, witness it surviving my fall

And on that subject, thank you all for the support and well wishes, i got more concern here than i did from my "friends and family"

And one from yesterday. Even though I've posted it before, Sister Rosetta Tharpe continues to surprise people, as she did me just a couple of years ago. Performance from 1964, when Tharpe, a native of Arkansas, was already 49 years old.

My brother got "Alice's Restaurant". I heard it enough times that I was able to deliver my rendition from memory in a speech class. My best friend was into Mo-town. She bought a Jimi Hendrix album by mistake, and gave it to me. I played it and played it for weeks. :) Phenomenal!!

Welcome back, Uman!

Did that Marantz come with a sapphire stylus?
'Cause diamonds are forever!

Thanks David, good to be back! I've been shopping cartridges/styli - and now do wish diamonds were forever! Good ones are quite pricey.

I hear ya on the Marantz, Uman. :) Got an old Marantz component system. Kickz ..... Problem is finding speakers for it. 300w per channel back in the day was literally 300w per channel. Today 300 per channel means split by four so 75 watts is the true power output.

Yeah, today's "consumer grade" electronics are way over-rated by the mfgs... they obviously aren't using true RMS.

(((UMAN!:))) Where you been? Hope your Christmas was great, & your New Year is happy!
I had a Marantz Gold something I bought in about '82. Don't remember the model other than Gold. Turntable, dual cassette, equalizer thingie, 4 big speakers. It sounded awesome.

Hey Kenna! good to 'see' ya. We did have a great Christmas - it's good to get to see family and friends ya haven't seen in a while.

......
Speakin of missin folks when they aint here!! Welcome back!! Hope everything's been going well for you!!
.....

Thanks for the warm welcome Deb!... I missed y'all too!

Turntable belts and cartridges, needles, etc. go to the NeedleDoctor website. Sells turntables and carries a variety of parts.

Thanks for that Matt. I went to that site, read the 'Beginners Guide to Cartridge Setup' (linked on the main page), and learned a lot! Never knew it, but guess I need to get me a tracking weight gauge, test record, and an alignment gauge template. I'd already ordered a belt off Amazon ($10 bucks, free shipping), but will likely buy the other stuff from needledoctor.

Nice to see you again 'bean' ... hope things have settled down for you and you can hang on the porch w/ us again regularly.
.....

Thanks Mike... I'll be a-hangin' - likely just here on the Back Porch for a while.

..........
Hot day-um, GENO is back!

Hopefully you'll fill in your hiatus blanks!

And yes, da ol' stero tube equipment still kicks azz...

And a Hearty Howdy to you too Iffy-mon! I'll surely fill y'all in, in time... don't want to bore y'all with a long diatribe.

You're definitely right about the old tube amps - ya just can't get that kind of sonic range and "fullness" out of a DAC... and much 'warmer' sound too.

I pulled the Marantz TT out of storage yesterday, cleaned it up, took off the old belt. Found out from the needledoctor website (thanks again Matt) that the belt is supposed to be 25" long. This one measures 26 3/4"!! Ordered a belt and a phono pre-amp off Amazon, should be here in a couple-a days.

The pre-amp was only ~13 bucks, got good reviews, and will allow me to run the TT through some of my modern equipment, or hook it up to a computer and record, or "digitize", some of my old albums. I've read that Audacity (free audio editing app) even has a function to remove static, pops, and other noise.

@disallowedword and @umanbean, SO nice to see you both back here again! Now, don't go away!
......

Thank you Dancing! I'll be around, missed y'all too much - each and every one of you!

For those of you having bad weather - hope you all stay safe, and stay warm!

Oh - and Don't Eat That Yellow Snow. :D

Nice to see you again 'bean' ... hope things have settled down for you and you can hang on the porch w/ us again regularly.
first concert: was either Jimi Hendrix or Janis Joplin at the Electric Factory in Philly. Can't remember which ... but then there's a lot I don't remember from those days.
Yep, Bean, good seeing you here again!

O, Mike did you bring back some memories mentioning the Electric Factory in Philly!!!!

Cell phones are the beginning of the Zombie Apocalypse.
Yep, they certainly are!

I never was very athletic. When I got out of boot camp in 1975 I was in better shape than any other time in my life. Kind of wish I had at least tried to stay in shape. Maybe I wouldn't be having so many health problems now. You know what they (Yep, them) say... Coulda, woulda, mighta, shoulda, biggest words in the dictionary.
Many years ago I had to see a therapist about something that was going on in my life, and she asked me......'are you as shouda gal'.....I said what? She kept repeating it and finally had to explain to me what it meant......my reply was YES I AM!!

It's never too late ... health problems are my exact motivation to stay as fit as possible .. I may not be Jack LaLanne, but I'll outwork about any 25 year old .. it's just going to take me longer .. and I've got a few years on you .. it's easy to talk yourself out of something, or just not be willing to take the first step and stick with it .. it's also easy to whine ..
One of the main reasons I go to the gym is a warning I got from my doctor......weight train or develop osteoporosis....opted for the former!

Suitable punishment for rude inattention. Barefoot would be better.
Got a laugh outta that!!!

I recently bought a fairly inexpensive (about $60) ION Pure LP turntable that converts vinyl records to various audio formats. Pretty cool... haven't done much with it yet but discovered that it works well (with some foibles). Even if it hadn't converted well, it works better as a turntable than my old turntable, which is now destined for the trash heap.

My intent is to record to .wav or .mp3 all of my vinyl records, then get rid of the vinyls, which are taking up space. I've got some good ones, including a fairly extensive Beatles and Paul McCartney catalog.

Remember the Dual turntable. When I was station in Germany you could pick them up real cheap over there. Had to be cheap I was only makin about $150 a month maybe a little more. Marantz thats a name I haven't heard in a while. I have a full set of Nakamichi stuff in the basement collecting dust. Receiver, Casette deck and CD Player. At the time they made the best casette deck there was. Still have a bunch of tapes. At the time I got it mid 80's was one of the best around, Pioneer was still a good name.

Name matches occupation huh, lol.
Jup! :) I had a great holiday, thanks! Glad y'all did as well.

I arrived back home in NC less than an hour ago.
Glad you're home safe and sound.

The snow finally stopped!
yay!!!

Yay we have heat only got down to about 67 in here must be pretty well insulated.better then I thought
wow, that's great that it only got that cold inside being without heat for 5 hrs. But very glad it's back on!

I left the Generator setup as a deterrent tonight, because sure as heck if I put it away another tree will fall!
So glad yours is back on too, and jup, that should work!!

My son and his family came down for Christmas and left Monday morning to head right back into that mess. They live in Fort Worth.
oh man....hope they're all ok. I didn't hear anything about tornadoes in Ft Worth, but it's so close I'm sure they had bad storms.

Joyetech just came out with a new one that should hit the market in 2 weeks called the Cuboid. 2 18650's 150w TC manual TCR 50bucks.
Here is a link to a contest if you want to deal with heaven's gifts, they're giving away I think 4 cubis/cuboid combos or something like that. HeavenGifts: Win Joyetech Cubis+Cuboid combo, a new SS316+TCR vaping experience you shall try I didn't enter, cuz I just don't wanna get into TC

I dropped this istick when I was getting outta the truck and am counting my blessings it still works.
Get a REO, and you could literally run it over with the truck and it would still work!! (people have accidentally)

Still hadn't discovered the evil weed but that happened when I got shipped off to another place. Everything went downhill from there. Not at the time but what all those things did to my body. Not the hemp but others.
