'Mornin all you "rockers"!

hmmm....."rockers"....... the derivative origin for the word is "rocks'"? As in those hard grey/black/brownish objects that come up thru the ground?

I know i've been said to have a head as hard as a rock...

so how has "rocking"chair, "rock n roll", "rock on" and such come into play?
Just curious...

I'm very proud of my daughter. Yesterday she finished replacing the ball bearings in her front wheels. It took her a couple of weeks off and on to remove the old ball bearings, get a shop to press the new ones, and replace them and get the car back together.

So, about $150 in parts and labor compared to about $1000 to get someone to do it for her. She does most of the work on her cars herself.

As a result, we now have 2 cars to drive, and I'm not riding the bus anymore. Yay, Melinda!
That is quite impressive! You go, Melinda!

Hey, at least ya found your way back! Hopefully I can do da same in three years...

So, as far as my new ultra upgraded 'plug & poop' hottest updated and warp speed 9 router, took me a couple of hours just to get my ol' one working again! Red lights on da front is not what ya wanna see on a new router.

Headin' to da local V Score store tomorrow wid their SHR and my laptop and let them set it up me up.
Now, dat'ss wat I'm tawkin bout!

Geordi is home! Interesting because he knows me. So home to a strange house but not with a stranger. Settling in nicely. He is soooooo cute! Sunday evening we will be in the hangout!
Strange house doesn't seem to make a difference when a dog knows love.

Hi Porchers! Porchies? I'm feeling a LOT better & have missed you all to no end. This is the first full day that my neck & shoulders have been pretty good for the whole day. I went to the store & picked up storm supplies & got them all carried in, so I feel like I need to keep this short or I'll mess myself up again. Got everything charged up in case we lose power during this storm. We still aren't sure where it's going to come in. Just hoping it doesn't decide to move in & sit on us for 4 days like TS Allison did. If it goes like it's projected I think Debadoo will get hit worse than we will down here. Anyway, just checking in a bit & getting off before I spend too much time trying to type & have a set back!
VERY impressed by Melinda, DH! That's fantastic that she did all that. Gurl!
Taking off now, Love you all!
Kenna, so glad to read you're on the upswing, and do take care and go slowly.

Here's da closing chapter to da Iffy and Keyna (aka GG) 2.5 day saga:

Twas fate that allowed a Ginger (my last cherished phurry phamily member) 'reincarnation' to capture my heart for sixty hours of my existence. Due to time warps, life style schedules and reality, Keyna was finally reunited with her family today, NEW (one week) NEXT DOOR RENTAL NEIGHBORS!

I'm in a peaceful place morally; although I think I'll remember this brief 'encounter' as long as I breathe.
I'm also relieved in that karma/kismet/fate, ultimately my Lord and Savior, has guided me again with Love!
I'm really pizzed that our new neighbor said he has her county tags and a collar in the house!
I'm a lil' puzzled and somewhat concerned in that Keyna headed back into my front door as the owner was leaving. At least I can watch out for her.
I'm tickled in that Patty was the one to allow Keyna into the rest of the house, as opposed to keeping her in the kitchen with a child gate barrier.
I think Patty was more disappointed for me, when we found out where the dog 'belonged', than I.
I'm truly thankful that we have concerned loyal local organizations that are faithful to their 'dogmas'! That's how the owners discovered my phone number.

Apologize fer all da 'I's. But day-um, it was a very personal and special experience!

Do thank ya'll for your loving support with kind words and well wishes! Wadda grand group we have here...

Ah, Iffy, what an experience that was, and am sort of glad that you found the owner, but let's see how long before that dog finds you again. There's absolutely nothing wrong having next door neighbor's dog visitation rights.

Good morning porchers. Best thoughts and wishes to those with aches and pains. Iffy ya done good getting the doggy back. Geez Matt - you going to take the porch live on some reality radio station. That's quite the setup.

No time to gab - gotta get cleaned up before the contractor shows up. We got a working dishwasher yesterday - today's plan is to run a gas line and hookup the stove.
Aah, almost done, except for incidentals.....it must be beautiful and you and Janet must be exhausted and exhilarated!

Nermal, welcome back

Matt, that is some setup you have there!

Well, our cuz finally arrived about 9:30 last night, and we gave him holy h*** for having his cell turned off. We did give him plenty of hugs of relief and love! He got tired during that long trip so decided to nap both in N.Carolina and Georgia, so thus the 3.5 hours late arrival.
He is really tired, cause he's still in bed sound asleep, but thankful to God and St. Anthony that he found his way here safely.

And, Iffy, what a good opportunity for meeting your new neighbors so early. GG was probably confused with the chaos of the move.

So glad your cousin arrived safe. Enjoy his visit.

Good Morning all! I see that all are well and accounted for. That's a good thing. I know I've been on the quiet side lately, but my Mama taught me if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all. My head has been in the dark side lately, so I've been quiet.

Kenna, I'm glad to see that you're doing better. You have been missed. Iffy, at least you can keep an eye on your new friend.

It has rained every stinking day that I've been off, so I feel like I'm living in the jungle. Yet again this morning, it was raining when I woke up. Unless my brother or my daughter feel beneficial when I go back to work, I'm going to have HELL when I get back with this yard.

Today I go in for yet another checkup with my doctor. I'm just NOT looking forward to it as I'm pretty sure my blood work will NOT show my sugar in the best of places OR my cholesterol. Yeah, I see some serious conversation with the doc this morning. (Heavy sigh) Of course, I have nobody but myself to blame for this predicament for not doing what I'm supposed to do.

At any rate, carry on, good people!!

Alan Freed, a disc jockey in Cleveland, Ohio used the phrase, “The Rock and Roll Session” to describe the amalgamation of rhythm and blues and country music he played during his show. As his radio show gained popularity, so too did the phrase.

Rant, cautionary tale, and call to action for all of us who are at an age or state of health that may require short (or long) term nursing or rehab care. Plan now!

Make sure that any family members or advocates you have know about your preferences. This is really important.

Very good advice! I went crazy trying to find a place for my mother and got quite an education. Since then I've been telling everybody I'm picking out my nursing home now!! I was joking around, sort of, because you really do need to have some idea about what's available and what kind of questions to ask.

I'm very proud of my daughter. Yesterday she finished replacing the ball bearings in her front wheels. It took her a couple of weeks off and on to remove the old ball bearings, get a shop to press the new ones, and replace them and get the car back together.

Fantastic! Now Melinda is a perfect example of an independent woman who takes seriously the idea that she can do anything!! How wonderful! You raised her good!

Well, the good news is that you know she's only next door and I'm sure you'll be able to see her often. And without even being able to talk she's reminded you of the very special love you experienced with Ginger! I'm so glad to hear that she wasn't abandoned as some people will do. Arrrrrgh!!!

My neck and back are pretty horrible today....
But then that is pretty normal for me.

Sorry to hear you're having problems with your neck and back. Hope it eases up for you!

The mixer

and the mic and headphones.

Whoa! Now that's WAY too complicated for me! Glad you're having fun with it.

oh goodness........it's almost a kitchen!!! I know y'all will be happy to have it done. But all the mess and disruption will be so worth it when it's done!

Welp, we got a flash flood warning til Midnight on Friday lol Kenna was right, Bill is markin a straight line right to us. But luckily we are quite a ways inland. Still wish I was on the coast though.

Yep, it's coming along! I don't mind the mess at all because it's going to be fantastic when it's done!

Keep an eye on that weather so you can keep safe. Hope it doesn't turn out as bad as they're saying. Brings new meaning to "be careful of what you wish for". This has not been a gentle soaking rain that you all need!

Well, if you need to be quiet for awhile that's ok. Hope you see the sunrise on the light side very soon.

Don't worry about the rain. Nothing much you can do about it anyway. Just scrape the moss off and tackle it when you get back. And maybe you'll come home to find it's been taken care of??? That would be nice.

Ach! Hope your doc appointment goes better than you expect. It's a drag having to go, but you can't ignore it.

Clnire, how all is well with your follow up with the doc too. The Doxycycline (sp?) is good stuff.

Welcome back Nermal!

Kenna, glad to hear you're doing better.

OK, so I think I've caught up. Hope I didn't forget anyone! Back to work figuring out where to put stuff and put some liners in the drawers. Getting pretty good and lining shelves!

I'd rather have a lime rickey! Seriously though, hope everything ends up being just peachy!

we had 3 weeks of nearly non stop rain. Our lakes are about 7-8 feet above normal and temple lake park is totally underwater, just treetops and pavillion roofs stickin out.

just a reminder to keep Seapeach in prayers today and send healing thoughts.

I'm thinking about doing a podcast as well and at $100 + about $30 in accessories I figured I would kill two birds with one stone.

Windin' down after watching da last segment of Texas Rising. Headin' off to find da Sandman...
I am so disappointed in that series. I had to put away any expectation of historical accuracy & just watch it as if it were a cheap historical fiction novel based in the time & surrounding events, complete with mustache twirling villian. As far as I'm concerned it is massively overhyped, a corruption, mockery, & insult to the history of the State of Texas, & to those who fought & died at Gonzales, the Alamo, Goliad, & San Jacinto, & every place in between. This could have been an awesome project. Instead it is a lost opportunity. I would feel differently if it had been promoted differently.

Concerning growing older and planning for those later years, I learned in dealing with my MIL's affairs that a lawyer who specializes in "Elder Law" can be a godsend. Not normally fond of lawyers but in this case I'll make an exception. I recommend everyone of "that certain age" have at least a consultation. The laws regarding estate planning and nursing care etc. are extremely convoluted and really do require an experts help.

Deb, I think y'all are getting it from 2 directions at once. And so soon after the Memorial Day storms theres no place for more water to go. We saw last night that it's going in aroung Port Arthur which is west of us. But we are on the dirty side with the same issues from the last storms. Our normal water table is so high, plus everything the goes on anywhere north of the coast has to pass us on the way to the Gulf. I wish I were in better shape so I could get out & help afterward. My Dad & I used to get out & help clear roads & driveways, pull away debris so water could drain. I'd take care of my stores & then go home & dive in to what ever was going on there.

Jup, unless ya don't have an estate. But even at that, I do need to put in writing what I want done with me. My son and I had to talk about that when he deployed, so we both told each other our wishes, but don't mean he remembers. Personally I don't care much. I told him if the law would ever allow it, he could stick me in a Hefty bag and put me out to the curb for all I cared!

Deb, I think y'all are getting it from 2 directions at once
yeah, I dug my snorkel and water wings back out lol last year the lakes were dry, now they're way above normal and the park is under water. Feast or famine is our norm here. Jup, when I helped run the outreach center in our town we did a lot too, but no more. I'm doin good if I can mop up a spill in the kitchen these days! Good to see ya here, but don't overdo hun!

Found my cabinet hardware at PullsDirect.com
Those are really pretty Janet!!!
