I see that many of us , also in my country are arguing about how we should vape in public , some are very much against (myself among them) vaping in public indoor places but others claim (and they have a point) that people like us are making others believe vaping is smoking.

To tell you the truth I'm a bit conflicted , on 1 hand acting the same way as I had when I smoked does make others believe it's like smoking but on the other hand vaping into people's faces will make them hate vaping and not see it as an alternative to smoking.

One thing for sure though , I hate the way we treat each other when it comes to that issue , many insults were thrown at people from both sides over that topic forgetting we have the same agenda !

I have always erred on the side of common sense and respect for others. I started vaping to quit smoking, and that is the only reason I do it. I don't really want attention. I know that I will attract attention when I do it, so I am discreet about it, and I just try to be cool. I think that people who blow large amounts of vapor everywhere look really foolish. I've got a pretty good idea of what a human beings lung capacity is now, and it is not all that impressive really.

As far as being discreet equating to shame, or making vaping look like smoking; I disagree. Obnoxiously blowing your vape wherever you want to makes vaping look like something rude, immature, and attention starved people really like. Fogging up a room full of people with your breath seems a little bit unsanitary. It makes vaping look like something that is embarrassing. Being discreet about it does not, to me.

Smoking was my choice. I knew of some of the dangers from my parents smoking habits. The only thing that makes me ashamed of it is how bad I personally felt after 19 years of smoking. Coughing, no energy, smelling like death, yeah those things are not something I was proud of. I think that people should be proud of being able to make their own choices in their lives within reason. To go from being in a state where I knew my health was compromised because of smoking to garrishly displaying something that visually mimics smoking doesn't make any sense to me.

I am proud to be a vaper, but not just for vaping's sake. I'm proud to have a safer alternative to smoking. I'm proud to have some control of my life back. The last thing I want to do in public is act like I have no self control.

In one of my 2 local pubs that I frequent regularly the owner jumped on the media scare mongering and banned vaping despite never having had 1 single complaint about it, you wouldn't believe the amount of people who ask me when I'm vaping outside *can you not use that inside* and when I say no it is *rolling eyes and aaah jaysus* and that is everybody smoker and nonsmokers

I think there are some grey areas, like bars and pubs. I think that people vaping in restaurants, and anywhere they want to without trying to limit the amount of vapor they produce is more of what I was talking about.

I don't vape where smoking is prohibited. I would probably get insulted though if I am asked to stop vaping in bars where smoking is allowed and maybe even educate them using the comparison of the hazards of second hand smoke compared to second hand vapor. It's probably a good thing that no one has asked me to stop yet.

To me personally, this is a very easy subject. Don't Vape where smoking is prohibited. However, I have been known to discreetly vape when inside a pub that doesn't allow smoking, at a football game, restaurant etc. I do it very discreetly and keep it to myself. I would never use an RDA inside a place.... period. The RDA's just produce way too much vapor.

I do not see vaping ever being accepted as the norm. There is too much fear mongering in this world and I do not foresee that going away.

I work at that big place in Orlando (the place with the castle). Well the company just started putting up signs that you must use electronic cigarettes in designated smoking areas....... This is exactly why I got away from smoking; I'm tired of the smell and having to stop what I'm doing to have a smoke. I personally do my vaping discreetly in the parks and keep it to myself.

Period end of it.....
Be responsible and realize the general public is stupid

Vape discreetly in public

Be prepared to always answer 5k questions each time you are vaping in public

Realize we live in a reactive in nature society and act accordingly.

Something Like 80% of Adults in US Do Not Smoke. No Smoking Indoors is the Social Norm almost everywhere in the US. Fact-Vapor LOOKS like Smoke. Question- Do we want some of those 80% who do not smoke to be sympathetic to Our Fight For Reasonable Regulation of the Electronic Cigarette Industry. Or do we want to appear as rebellious teenagers?

The soon the research is done and published in the medical circles the better i guess. I think eating establishments do have a point though ie food hygiene etc. I only been vaping two weeks, last week i was vaping with the smokers outside a bar but it didn't really bother me in fact it gave me a bit of buzz watching them burn their money away and how long their buzz lasted them. I was still vaping time they was on the 2 or even 3erd ciggie.

I used to wonder how people could fire up a microwave and spew diacetyl fumes into my personal space, yet I couldn't stealth vape my ecig by blowing the vapor down my shirt. Popcorn smells terrible while it's being nuked and it ruins the air in an unventilated area.

We definitely shouldn't be blowing clouds in other peoples' personal space. Go outside if you are subohming. Most people here are vapers because they wanted to leave the cigarettes and do so without going through the cold turkey withdrawal. Many find vaping to be a safer alternative to smoking. In the 4 1/2 years I've been vaping I really haven't found a reason to stop vaping. All the reports give vaping a clean bill of health compared to smoking, in spite of the antifreeze, diacetyl, and other spikes that people throw to make us think it's dangerous.

I spent a lot of years in the cold and hot and the rain smoking in the outside break area before I quit and switched to vaping. Maybe that smelly microwave belongs out there, too! ;)

Most of the bars/pubs around here allow vaping even though smoking is illegal. I generally ask if they allow e cigs first. So far only one place doesn't, and they have it posted on their door- no ecigarettes allowed. I'm sure if I blew vapor in a fellow customers face they'd complain.., even though they allow it, I still try to be discreet.

I enjoy vaping and not having to worry about relapse into smoking. Why ruin it for everyone by being obnoxious and blowing stinky vapor into a room full of people anyway, much less where smoking is prohibited. Some already call us addicts and others see vaping as a gateway for teens to smoking cigarettes. There's no excuse for obnoxious behavior by any camp, vapors or the public. I won't blow clouds into your personal space just don't go putting me in the classification of drug addict. You know I really don't care if the general public ever educates itself about vaping but I'll not be treated like we were as smokers. Pushed out of anywhere the public is and dollared to death by insurance companies. I just lie like a dog and say I use NO tobacco products. I don't even consider eliquid AS a tobacco product so my conscious is clear. ;)

I sort of answered this in a different thread and then I saw this one. I use vaping solely to quit smoking. So I treat it as smoking. Maybe I'm in the wrong, I dunno. I vape when I wake up, driving, on my breaks, after dinner and before bed. The only difference is I now do it in my home and in my husbands car. I wouldn't smoke at work, the store, movies or in any other indoor public space so I don't feel the need to vape in those places. I don't understand why people want to. In my experience those I have seen vaping indoors are more in your face type people (as in they are the ones blowing big clouds or in your direction). I have had a few customers at my window blowing it directly at me, really??? Is that necessary?? I would have to guess it's a hobby for those people so they look at it as such. A hobby. Or they are just really immature and rebellious as another put it.

Yes Ikr? Those are the LOOK AT ME..SOOOOOO COOL, that ruins everything for everybody. Mostly the cloud chasers or sport vapers as I call them. I'm with you Sara, I want to continue vaping where I consider it okay like a friends house that don't mind me vaping but hates cigarette smoke and don't allow it in his home or car.

Before I knew what vaping was, I walked out into the main office to find an employee sitting at his desk with a cloud of smoke over his head and what looked like a small crack pipe in his hand. I thought he had lost his mind. Before I opened my mouth he quickly told me it was vapor and that I couldn't stop him from doing it, while 3 other (non-smoking) employees looked on, mortified.

We have since come to a compromise, but as with anything, there are people who will go out of their way to prove a point.

Smokers are so tired of being discriminated against, they are just trying to reclaim their right to consume nicotine. And it is their right. Until such a time it's illegal. I get that.

As a smoker, and now a vaper, I am always considerate of those around me. I don't go out of my way to piss people off. Though, I recall sitting off in a secluded area of a vacation resort, smoking a cigarette and enjoying a mojito when a mother went 50 feet out of her way to parade her 2 children right in front of my table, then went to complain to hotel management I was polluting her childrens' air. Sometimes you just can't win.
