One year ago today I dropped my truck off to get looked at , My building is just across the street from the dealer so I figured I'll just walk I could use the exercise. Well lazy ... me decides to just the fence behind the dealer.

BAM I did not notice but the drop on the other side was about 6 feet ( It was a 3ft tall fence on my side !! ) and I pushed my talor bone through the top of my HEEL bone !!! BAD IDEA PEOPLE , well I crushed my heel bone into 12 pieces.

after 2 weeks on the couch waiting for the swelling to go down eating 20 + vicodin and percosets a day for the pain , I was told by my doctor ( who I researched and found locally , one of the top 3 guys in Ca. for this type of injury ) that he would NOT do surgury on me if I did not quit smoking !!!

SO I did the Google search and found E-cigs , I had intended to minimize my smoking not really stop it , I got the e-cig and juice after 3 days I noticed I hadn't had a smoke and the rest is history.

I will probably end up with a spinal fusion sooner than later. The reason that they make you quit smoking is that nicotine supposedly inhibits bone growth. Most spinal surgeons will not touch you until not only have you quit but for at least 6 months. When my pain starts getting severe enough and to the point tha I know I will not be able to avoid the surgery much longer I will have to drop down to a zero nic vape. My husband says he is moving out before I do!

Some oral surgeons warn there patients that recovery time will be hindered and not optimal due to the side-effects of smoking on the healing process...

I really wonder if it's the nicotine or one of the other thousands of chemicals in analogs that affects bone growth? Nicotine always seems to catch the wrath up-front...

I wonder the same thing. I am a member of another forum and there was a person asking about using ecigs (before I started vaping) to quit before surgery and he got blasted by a few people saying that it is the nic that is the problem. That was my last visit on that forum.

From what I had gathered they point to nicotine as the culprit , however I dont believe they have really separated the Nic from the SMoke ! , in my case it helped , I had no ill effects regarding my surgery and healing everything was normal for a non smoker.

Ya I think I know the forum you are talking about Salemgold !!!

Probably do. It is a huge forum but I had to get away from it. Way too much drama going on over there. It was weird because the trouble makers became mods! The guy that blasted the person asking about ecigs (he told the person to just go ahead and kill themselves if they were going from cigs to ecigs!!!) became a mod about 2 months after that comment. Ridiculous!

Wow that's sad...and the reason this is the only forum I've joined. We have our share of drama but at least our mods don't hesitate to smack us upside the head for it LOL.
