Good to see that the OP edited his original post....
Even more disheartening than the possibility that some super-sub-ohm, crazy mech using freak blew himself up is that so many here just automatically assume it was some super-sub-ohm, crazy mech using freak. I often wonder if we aren't our own worst enemy. I should probably remove myself from this "discussion" before I earn the ban hammer.
Regulation will not stop regulated mods either, the OKR-T chips and the Raptor chips are not made for vaping they are just power regulation chips for the electronics industry.
There are a lot of arguments there, but I was not looking for an argument. I think mechanicals should be available for the same reason I think people should be able to own guns. Last time I checked the claim was that we live in a "free" country, what ever that means these days. Whatever the activity is, baking cookies, making hot dogs, growing tomatoes, driving a car, or "blowing clouds" Someone is going to come along and want to do it bigger, faster, longer, larger than the person before them. There is a world book of records for some of this silly stuff.
At the end of the day high risk activities are a negligible impact on health care and tax dollars, politicians and rich people hurt the bottom line the most. That brings us to the next thing, people blowing clouds, or part of their faces off are not going to be the death knell for "free vaping" Those same politicians and rich people who are losing their precious tax dollars and sales revenue are going to be the ones that sign the warrant, and it won't be for fringe incidents. It will be some made up something that serves as an excuse to protect the bottom line.
"Rich people hurt the bottom line" is like saying "Cloud chasers hurt vaping" not all cloud chasers are idiots just like not all rich people are out to screw the little guy (but I too have a general distaste for politicians hehe)
Other than that I agree. We need to self regulate this IMO. Standardize training for shops and do a best practices for cloud comps. We dont need the government to do the regulation.
When a dude explodes his mod in public he should be held responsible for the damages. Just like when a guy drives his car through liquor store. Are hit and runs a possibility? Sure, but we arent banning cars. Think about all the money the government could take if they mandated public transportation!
I guess I should have been a little more precise with the "rich people" statement, or broad "The 1%" or something, but you get the drift.
Also your logic is flawed, your very own Capital Metro only funds 13% of ridership through the farebox, and they are on the high median. Most are funded between 8% and 10% through the fare box. Government loses money on "public" transit of all kinds, even some on private transit.
Maybe we make it like driving a car... You need to take a test and pay a fee before you can cloud chase in public... Lol
I said could takelook at all the money they snatch at the pump, on car sales (new and used - lic & reg)
I don't know about TX but they give those things out like flu shots in FL. May be a little counterproductive lol
But my thinking is the same as some of you. All the regulations and rules in the world won't stop the bigger, better, faster mind set. I'm in the same category (with cars, not vaping).
We can only do so much to inform people of the reality of smoking alternatives but we're never going to stop people from building unsafe devices. It is a personal choice. Just like owning firearms. I have lots of guns. I don't go around harming myself or others. I use them safely. But i don't want the gov or anyone telling me i can't own them because some loser holds up a bank.
I personally wasn't assuming anything. The original post, before edited, said it happened at a cloud chasing competition and that is what I responded to.
I just got a Text from Brian Williams.
O M SQUEE, you know Brian Williams!!??!
Also, your previous post shortened the link so it showed up on my phone as "E-cig explodes inside man"
Needless to say, I had to click to see how accurate the text was.
Huge disappointment.
I hear ya klutzyleo. I first saw the OP after the edit, so I had no idea it referred to a cloud chasing competition. It would have been better if the edit was made in such a way that the OP maintained that original information.
Just a thought. A strikethrough can be a good way to do this. It can be accomplished like this:
[s_]text[/s_], without the two underscores. It looks like this:text.
I personally do not mind race car drivers wanting to drive faster than the other nutcases in a little circle, some get hurt or worse. It is their choice.
If they do it at a racetrack, no problem.
If they do it on a public highway with other drivers around....not so much.
I do not mind skateboarders wanting to do flips higher than the other skateboarders, some get hurt or worse. It is their choice.
If they do it at a skatepark with other skateboarders, no problem.
If they do it on a crowded sidewalk with other pedestrians...not so much.
I do not mind that people want to jump off of stupidly low structures for parachuting, some get hurt or worse. It is their choice.
If they do it in an unpopulated area, no problem.
If they do it where if something goes wrong they land on someone just walking by...not so much.
I do not mind that people want to blow bigger clouds than others, some get hurt, very few. It really is their choice.
If they do it at home or with a group that knows and accepts the risk, no problem.
If they do it in public, or a crowded elevator....not so much.
People here and other vaping sites complain about people cloud chasing wanting to regulate how they vape, when you scoff at these cloud chasers and state how stupid it is and that they shouldn't....
Hey, guess what, you just became part of the regulatory party.
/non-cloud blowing flavor chaser who sometimes safely volume vapes. It really is my choice.
Glad it wasn't the clerk's face.
