That really sucks. If you can get your own N95 mask, there is a method to disinfect them I think.

I had PLENTY of PPD at home from being an acupuncture detox specialist, but I sort of felt like, meh, I would feel AWFUL coming in with all this stuff and NOT giving it to the medical assistants who were running out of gloves.

The husband found a giant box of unused N96 masks but we were not allowed to use them "due to the discomfort of families." This was before everyone was like "go go USA masks" and whatever. So we got ONE of the paper masks daily and shoving it in and out of like a paper bag caused me grave distress.

IDK if they are being cheap (I mean that field notoriously is) but my job is so out of PPD they are taking donations of homemade masks to give to PATIENTS they can, uh wash.

The whole thing is just so depressing. I did bring in my gloves but gave them to the MAs because you just don't ration gloves. I'm sorry but you shouldn't especially in an under like age 5 clinic where you are seeing 'well-childs" (and all their relatives god knows what they were incubating.)

Maybe I should have demanded the mask and gloves but no one was prepared for this, as ALWAYS. I wish some USEFUL USA agency would create A GIANT stockpile of it and give it out as needed, we will always be at risk of pandemics and frankly... In medicine it is your ONLY line of defense at first. That and rotation of in office vs telehealth visits, to decrease amount of exposure. All the "healthy" well people who died were on the front lines 24-7 and seeing very ill patients with not enough PPD.

PPD is around for a reason: stopping the transmission of like DAMN bacteria and viruses.

I was a lot younger but when I was pregnant I worked for a genetics company, human genome sequencing. The acrylamide gels we used were mutagens. You should have seen me swaddled up all morning dealing with my gels. EVERYONE made sure I was properly protected (pregnant or not.)

Sigh. They wanted to pay me to get my masters in Bio and eventually a PhD to make me a researcher. I was, prior to the fine tremor and all that, the ultimate technician. My sequencing was usually about 15% clearer and more accurate than anyone else's. I just did not want to go to school, work full time, and take care of a kid but I was making more doing THAT in the dang late 90s than I was until quite recently. IDK I'm more of a science technician although IDK I'm sure I could have made a useful researcher, But all that playing around in my dad's lab as a kid, meh.

Oh well, I'm off to the lands of rurality and working for the Indian Health Service if I don't die. I love that agency and working with tribes in general.

Unable to source N95 but was able to find a few Kn95 (china equivalent) I'm going to need more because soon my significant other will be mandated to return to work. In addition, he is high risk. I found a really cool modification for a plain surgical mask. Yes, masks can be reused if careful. I plan on using the 160 degree oven at 30 minutes (do not put it on metal surfaces in oven).
The hack is on facebook. The video wasn't posted on you tube. It works well.

It appears that I'm not able to load a facebook video.

The paper masks don't work that well, period, if you can ,you might look into UV light to sanitize the China ones you have got, from the get go and then thereafter? (I am not really pro bathing UV waves across the earth but in small doses if done correctly it's a good sanitizer for like, more fragile items.) It seems less damaging overall and IDK when "the wave" will hit but frying your paper masks in an oven does seem perhaps like slightly better than nothing. I guess it would depend on where you are and when, and when you think the biggest wave will hit.

I'd send you mine (I will not be returning I don't think, if I do I will have immunity) but they keep them N95 masks under lock and key where I work, they never even fitted it properly although mine has my name scrawled across the front.) LOL yep.

Good luck however you try to ineffectively do it. And sorry, yes, it is all pretty ineffective if you are bringing paper masks home to cook in an oven.

Okay I'm going to say based on my experiences now, don't use Advil use Tylenol. I was getting pretty frustrated with the dang Tylenol and so I tried Advil for a couple days. It worked better for everything except the fever, mine like SKYROCKETED last night and my other numbers on things were pretty horrible too. I took Tylenol instead of Advil because I was like, "Maybe the French were right." They often are. I was pretty freaked out and ready to go to the hospital tomorrow.

One hour later my fever was below 99 for the first time. I think maybe in the beginning the Tylenol was doing stuff I was probably sick enough I couldn't get my fever to normal anyway.

Still feel cruddy but oh my gosh, so much less. I think I will continue the Tylenol though. It was super relieving I HATE hospitals.

That's the maximum, not the typical length of time between infection and grave. 3 weeks is more like it.
I don’t know what the typical numbers are. There’s a lot of push-pull going on with that bit at the moment. Might be 3 weeks. Might not. That’s why I said “up to”. I’m starting to get why the CDC took so long to sort out the whole THC/nic ecig thing. They have to run conservative side when it’s life or death. tobacco companies knew this and used it.

Okay. I don't actually think I have taken more than 3,000 on any given day because I don't like it much. They say you can take 4,000 but it's not like my liver isn't working hard enough.

I slept til 10:30 this morning. I also got my tests back; they were negative. I read (various places) about the various reasons people test negative, and I have no idea, man. I mean, I read you shouldn't test someone too early-- a lot of places said wait 10 days but then I guess people said you can test positive with NO sx so who knows? I have read swabs can be mishandled I read a lot of things. So, IDK. Most places are putting the error rate at 30%.

I put in my information for the free drive by testing site, and they told me I was "too sick" to test and to consult my healthcare provider.

People have suggested various options like hantavirus but I swear to God, if there are more viruses than this like this out there I am never leaving my house AGAIN.

So IDK but I'm really fed up. I've even started doing the watery cough at night but eh I am still hoping it will go AWAY. I am personally pretty convinced this is what it is due to my symptoms but I can't know for sure now. I am just gonna start reducing all my meds now because a) I can't take them forever and b) if I'm gonna get sicker I want to get it over with at this point.

Still no news about the check the husband is gonna drag me to Tucson tomorrow I know it. I will pack a roll of precious TP and don my birka I think (Yes, I own one although finding it may be a challenge) and shove on gloves and masks. I mainly have the birka cuz I figured it would be like the clothing equivalent of a straight-jacket but it's not so great.

Okay well that's useful I guess but all I have are paper masks so that is what I will be wearing. And gloves. I am just going to try and stay away from people, like find a nice bush if needed. I don't want to infect anyone else. The husband says he has a"ton' of n95 respirators like if you are dong construction stuff, you want them from time to time. He has no clue where they are so it's not that helpful to me.

I really would prefer to like, ah, NOT go to Tucson tomorrow but apparently that is the only way to do it and ALSO well, I would like my house fixed and sold. I would REALLY not like to infect my construction worker IN PARTICULAR nor anyone else including any BoA tellers its not THEIR fault the bank the work for suck so much. Oy.

    they were negative

    Interesting, but pretty possible.
Coronavirus was estimated to cause around 15% of the general respiratory viral illnesses, 85% are caused by other viruses.

People have suggested various options like hantavirus but I swear to God, if there are more viruses than this like this out there I am never leaving my house AGAIN.

Yep, what a dangerous world we live in.
Imagine how Aussies are surviving, not only viruses, bacterias and shrooms but every creature around is planning to kill em.

I am an expat but I lived in Sydney for a few years. I also regularly walked/rode out into the bush. I lived there for 3 years but I never even SAW anything but the occasional funnel web spider (they will grab an air pocket and sink to the bottom of your pool.

In Tucson I was bit by brown recluses (twice) have had numerous horrible creatures around including a scorpion in my shower, trying to sting me. Let's not forget the giant flying roaches and oh, I was less than a foot next to a rattler, preparing itself to sting me or bite me or whatever. That is ONE odd sound I thought it was the electrical wires vibrating. Our dog got bit like 4 times.

So don't even tell me about Aus. LOL.

You are right, I got swarmed by tarantulas, and black widows. Actually my mom lived in the desert town of Broken Hill and they had an outhouse and the outhouse was FULL of HORRIFYING spiders, and like, she would have to go out there in the dark and well, me, I think I would have just never gotten housetrained, personally, but my maternal grandmother was a complete battle axe, in fact she made me cut up my favorite dress in a fit of murderous rage because she like, sucked so hard.

Like, she was watching us one time and she came in to the kitchen and she was like "What would you like for breakfast? You can have ANYTHING you want." My little sister like, said, "I would like a piece of toast please." My grandmother was like, "ARE you CRAZY I am not toasting that nice, fresh bread!" I found that logic spurious and I was like, "Um... You said we could have ANYTHING we wanted." That cut no ice and I pushed harder but after a while, forget it. I mean I was five and she was FRIGHTENING.

So my mom came home and found me upstairs cutting up my favorite dress. She asked me why, I told her, and my mom was like TOTALLY bemused and I explained. My mom was like, "Uh okay, so I understand what happened. But, why aren't you cutting up HER dresses?"

I just gave her this long stare and said, "Have you MET your mommy."

In fact a black widow spider BIT my maternal grandmother, and she did not die. She killed it. She had her whole leg turn black and swell up and like, lived to 101. Convict Aussie side, stern stuff.

Which is why my mom who was pretty smart actually owned a motorcycle and rode it. She was a daredevil and said, "I am leaving this godforsaken island as fast as possible." She did. So talk to her psyche not mine, the only evil thing about Sydney was NOT the critters it was the damn middle shcoolers who tormented me horribly for being weird, having the wrong clothes and a French accent. THAT is all my psyche needed to suppress .LOL.

So yeah anyway went to Tucson saw the house it was a mess got dehydrated fever spiked to 104 and the stupid bank... I am changing banks ASAP BoA sucks but I got to meet our contractor several times (they sent us to several banks) before we finally got rid of that 30 K check. I said to the husband, "Can we just let him keep it? (it was supposed to be dispersed in 2 stages but I could see he knew what he was doing." So, that happened.

For a really not sick person I felt very sick and I avoided people for the most part but like when the bank of America lady offered me water, I wanted to take it, spit in it and throw it in her face. Not accidentally in any way. It was probably assault with a deadly cup of water or something if I did, so I restrained myself, plus I was like, "Eh she is probably just another dang human, doing what she believes she must.

So now I am lying all swole up on the couch trying to rehydrate. I took some Advil MERELY because I ache all over now that is a 5 hour round trip, man.

So yes, for "some random virus" this SURELY sucks. If I caught coronavirus today I MUST say.

So I plan to do not much for a while but grieve my house. Ugh.

That explains a lot actually, genes you know :thumb:

I'd really love to watch a movie or maybe even a series based on your biography.
Directed by Robert B. Weide (fun version) or Tarantino (true version)

I do not know whether to laugh or be offended. I wrote an autobiography once but like, it sort of kind of sucked and it' not super funny. I followed the "writing code" of they day which means its nothing similar to my posts. There is one chapter I find somewhat amusing and sad, also, maybe I can shove it on my blog, IDK.

Gosh, if it's gonna be a hit, send it to M Night Shyamalan or however you spell that, he needs one pretty badly. Otherwise he will go down as a one hit wonder. "I see dead people."

I think I have actually SAID that, sincerely. LOL.
