I have everything from 18350’s to 21700’s. I need to start putting a date on them. Some, like my 18350’s and 26650’s rarely get used.
batteries can last a long time in storage. As long as when you go to charge them again and they hold the charge, then they are fine to use.

I run 3-6 setups daily and have 23-26 18650 batteries in active rotation.
My (dual battery) mods either tell joules-used or have a puff counter.
I can tell if my batteries are healthy from that or from my digital chargers.
Even at 15ml-25ml/day my batteries last much longer than a year.
One of my pairs from 2015 is getting tired but still gets >3/4 performance.

How often are we supposed to replace our batteries? I’ve been replacing every year.
I have some VTC5 cells that are more than four years old that are still pretty decent. There were the very first 18650s I bought. They've been used on-and-off, not every day, mostly in my nightstand/wakeup mod, where I will get 2-3 days of use out of one before it needs to be recharged. They may not have quite the capacity they did when new, but they still turn in respectable numbers when I check the AC resistance.

Note: I am not very hard on batteries. Use mech squonkers, generally at 0.75Ω, and never under 0.5Ω. I don't discharge them very deeply. They're basically never under 3.7V when I pull them for a re-charge. I charge at 0.5A unless I'm in some huge hurry, which is almost never, because I have two cells dedicated to each mod that I use regularly and rotate them.

Anyway: I suggest replacing them based on performance, not on age. Replacing them once a year whether you need to or not strikes me as wasteful.

I’m bad about not checking my battery levels and a lot of times I vape it until it’s dead in the Pico I use. The provari blinks, letting me know it’s time to charge.
So does the display on the pico....LOL

At least my newer ones do,......now that I think about it, I am not totally sure about the original ones.

:)
Mine doesn’t That’s why I ended vaping until the battery is dead. The battery icon doesn’t jump out at me so I forgot to look.

Man I replace mine (for now) when they start acting like a bad boyfriend, you know, you get them all charged up for a night on the town and they abruptly disappear with some blonde and whatnot.

You just... Kind of know when a battery Goes Bad. Just like the boyfriend, you can feel it. I have dated all my new ones but my expectation is NOT that my first wrap will survive a year (though it is hefty) and etc. If you think I am all sanguine and redating as I rewrap, you'd be wrong.

You just can... kind of tell they go floppy. Like, this one in my first radius saw a TON of use, and I would keep charging and it would not hold a charge and I got angry.

So that's sort of when. When I have "feelings" toward my battery although I am sure there are far better methods for the Organized at Heart but yeah, why get rid of a useful thing/person before you absolutely NEED to is my philosophy.

LMAO!

I cannot relate. My wife and I have been together since she was 18 and I was 20. I kinda doubt those VTC5s will last that long, but I'm fixing to find out.
