I've been thinking about pre-built coils. I always made my own but maybe it would be nice to get a bagful and save a bunch of time. I make the same coil for all my tanks. 1.3ohm, 3mm, 6 wraps, 28g Kanthal. I looked on FT.

I noticed there's a wide range of price. Authentic UD brand is $8 for 50. Other brands tend to be less than $4 for 100. What's that about? Is there a difference in quality or something?

Most of them have the legs pointing in the same direction, I need them pointing in opposite directions, but those are out of stock at the moment. Guess it's easy enough to take out half a turn.

Are there good sources in this country?

I've been buying the cheapies from fasttech for years and am very happy with them. I can't imagine what is "premium" about twisting a piece of wire? The legs on all mine point the same direction, too. I either add a half or take off a half turn. Coils have been very good quality.

US sourced wire with data sheets confirming metallurgy.

OK then! Never did consider that. Is wire expensive enough though to make "bad" wire a thing? Out of curiosity, I'm going to order a pack of premium coils next time to compare. They are still very cheap!

Sorry o/t from ongoing convo. Inslee is issuing his vaping statement tomorrow here in WA. I got in under the wire, but I am at the verge of tears. I helped hundreds quit smoking for 3.5 years and I’m seeing it all get torn down.

Sorry to hear that and glad I moved from there.

Any recommendations on cheap reliable mechanical battery mods to stock up on?
Im still not clear what those are but I think I picked up some. I bought some Siglei Zmax v5 the other day for $10 something each. I'll see if I can find the link.

The Smok Magneto and SXK Stingray clone have both been super reliable for the 4 or 5 years I've used them. Although the magnets in the Stingray switch do need to be replaced when they get weak.

That's a regulated mod. Mechs have no electronic safeguards, unless you add in some sort of fuse yourself. If you don't know what you're doing, the battery can explode. If you do know what you're doing, they can be used relatively safely, but there is always some risk.
