I totally missed the 2016 stock up. I’d been away from ECF since 2014 when my husband got sick, and ‘16 i was still really preoccupied with the aftermath of his death. Not just the emotional fall out, but practical matters too. So much paperwork and other things to figure out.
I’d have been really screwed if vaping was banned back then because I was totally clueless and didn’t have anything I’d need for long term survival. I wouldn’t have been able to afford it then, anyway.

I was away too due to my return to smoking and the aftermath of my grandmas death. I know it's not the same as your situation but I would have been screwed like you.

Me, I'm still perfectly happy with the gear I bought in 2015 and 2016, so I watch the current frenzy in a sort of bemused way.

I was the same way. I thought I wanted black and stainless. I ended up with red, purple, and rainbow. You're right, the colors don't really matter because they should all perform similarly (out of the box). I wanted some 21700 squonks. When I got my Squeeze 2's, they were less than half the price of a Topside. I'm a give me 2 mods over one kind of person. Especially when they basically do the same things. Top fill is convenient and all but not double the price convenient.Then I had a moment of "who gives a sh*t" and bought 'em. I've since taken a liking to my purple and red Squeeze 2's.Blitz, get a purple Luna.

I'm glad we got a second chance to stock up. I didn't stock any drop-in coils the first time around. This time I did. Very good to know that if I can't set up an atty, I can still vape. Although I do like my older gear, I like my new stuff very much! Especially my Lunas. I always wanted stabwood and could never afford it. Oh and the minifits. Those things are so useful!

Since about the time I started 12 years ago, I pretty much always bought my stuff once every 3 years, so I would buy 3 years worth at a time. For some odd reason I was not worried all too much in 2016... but this time around it was time to stock up in September for me and that's when the crap started to hit the fan. It really made me take things more seriously, especially the May 2020 deadline. Had things happened in 2016 I would have either been nearly out of hardware and nic or just had about 3 years worth which would have run out by about now.
EDIT: The one nice thing about stocking up now was that I was basically able to buy 2016 gear for pennies. lol

I read that as Since I started at 12 years old. I couldn't figure out where you got money at 12.
That's how old I was when I started smoking... and packs of smokes were like 50-75 cents or something, and there were cigarette machines. lol
THAT is a very useful coupon, if only they had more squonk mods. I have (4) metallic resin, and (3) black luxotic bf mods so I'm set from them. Thank you for the coupon though, I bet it gets used by members here. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the next vendor to get bought out of bf mods by ECF lol!

I started my stocking clueless on gear so I bought old things I probably shouldn’t have because they were dirt cheap until I quickly educated myself and decided to change gears and purchase more updated things. I’m happy with my purchases though. Except the mechs I bought but I spent under $25 for them so I’m not out much and they will be handy when my regulated mods bite the dust. I never spend money like this though...like ever. So I’m putting the brakes on and keeping to needs and not wants. The wants will put me in the poorhouse. I do want to retire comfortably in the next few years.

Besides being much cheaper, the Pico ones are also 8mL bottles, instead of the 6.8mL for the Luxotic ones.
But I can retire young this September! I won’t because I like making money and I will actually be TOO young financially to expect to make it to old age. But I never say never. I love thinking about not having to get up early, getting dressed, fighting traffic, dealing with coworkers, and being overworked. I’m almost there!
