So...................

I realize this is old news, but I figured some of ya's might be able to use a laugh at my expense.

That sale at MBV. One of the things they had on sale were boxes of pre-rolled wicks. They showed a box of 12 wicks, and they weren't terribly expensive. So trying to get my order up to $50 for the free shipping, I added a bunch of the boxes to my order. 25 boxes to be exact.

Here's the issue. The pic with 12 wicks? Yeah, no. I figured it was 12 wicks times 25 boxes. 300 wicks is admittedly a LOT, but again, relatively cheap, so why not. Right?

WRONG! Each "box" has TEN little boxes, each with 12 wicks. I'll save you the math (25x12x10). I received (and I kid you not) >>>

3,000 WICKS!!!

It's been well over 24 hours, and I believe @Katdarling JUST stopped laughing, about 30 minutes ago. I was beginning to fear that we'd have to hospitalize her just so she could get some oxygen.

Ohmammia. I think we'll be okay for a while.

Don't feel bad, DP. You're not the only one. RJ said she ended up with over 1,000. I ordered 10 boxes that just came today, so now have a ridiculous 1200 wicks. The worst part is finding a place to put all these boxes. :D

stuck in a squishy pod called my brain
I read a lot,, don't usually pass on what I read,,, but I read enough to decide I don't want to compete with vapers and anyone/ other industries that use vg& pg,,, went ahead and ordered couple more gallons should last me 2 years on top of what I already have.

Last year I bought 2 years supply of flavors,, then i split my recipe % in half,, adjusted pretty quick ( wow)

Our media/ fda/cdc seem to be down playing the virus. In about 5-6 weeks,, things might get more limited,,, ie. I don't want to compete with you or someone making soap for my vg/pg,,, so I am ordering it now.

I did place a small FT Order Jan 16,, got it jan 30- got lucky, only $22 + vg/pg $46

When you set up your Etsy store to sell your cotton wares let me know. I may be in the market for tiny macrame owls.

On the other hand, I just did some math of my own. I took the number of RTAs I generally have going and multiplied the number of wicks those RTAs have by the number of times I wick them in a month. I divided that number into the 1200 wicks I received and got 66.7 months, or 5.5 years. That's not so bad. A bag of Pufs labo cotton generally lasts me a little over 4 years. So I basically have 10 years of wicking material that I got for about $10 total. That's $1 per year for wicks.

When I was rebuilding over 5+ years ago (before I went strictly dropin) I used organic cotton balls. I don’t hear anyone using them any longer. Are they safe? Now that I’m building coils again, and if I ever run out of cotton bacon/rayon/unicorn hair , can I use the cotton balls?

A dude on YouTube that does reviews uses them all of the time but he boils them first.

Why not? If they're organic, and unbleached, they shouldn't have any material on them that would be unsafe for vaping. I think a lot of people still use them. I generally use JOC pads because they're so easy to use.

Do you realize that to be certified organic a farm only has to be pesticide free for 5 years but pesticides remain in the soil 40+ years? Organic certification is a joke it means nothing.

Stop by a Sally's, get a 3lb box of Graham Cellucotton 100% rayon (not the cotton, or rayon/cotton blend), you'll be all set [emoji106]

I didn't realize that. Maybe the trick is to boil them before use.

I’ve got some rayon but to me it has a taste that won’t go away. Probably user error... I’ll keep trying.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
organic cotton balls. I don’t hear anyone using them any longer. Are they safe?

Vapers who didn't want to use silica wicks used to use organic cotton balls all the time right before the Japanese cotton became popular.

Some even used regular cotton balls but boiled them first. Not sure if that really does anything. Besides, who wants to do laundry just for a vape? Personally, I'd try rayon before I'd go through the trouble of laundering cotton balls.
