Yeah, when I first began vaping 8 years ago I was using a mech whose battery exploded. It didn't have a locking fire button, and the fire button was rather prominent. Put the mod in my pocket and the fire button got compressed continuously and the battery went into thermal runaway. I had little knowledge about batteries at the time and wasn't aware they could explode.

I don't use mechs any longer. Not really biased about mechs, just not for me. My regulated mods are arguably safer with the time out safety fire feature, and I think they give me a better vape because I can control the power output to suit my taste on the fly.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant battery chemistry and whether the battery is internally protected or not.
With modern regulated mods is the type of battery we use still truly critical?

There's a long battery information article on the forum but it dates back more than 5 years. Among other things it advises that the long gone and fondly remembered AW batteries are the safest.

If you're talking about Roly's old post, yeah, it's old.

If you want up-to-date information about battery safety, chemistry, etc, the place to go in @Mooch 's blog.

I quit vaping 7 years ago once I kicked nicotine. In this boring time we're living through I've started a vape again (at 0 nic). Pulling out my 8-year old and older AWs I was surprised to see they worked pretty well. In fact, very nearly as well as the ones I recently began to buy. Somewhat of relief since buying new button tops for my old Provaris has become pretty difficult. There is some possibility that the new ones I'm buying have been in storage for some time but I'd be very surprised if they've been in a warehouse somewhere for eight years or more.

Before all the AW's were gone I bought some extra's, but when I was asking around, I got a recommendation for these, and had it book marked. They are supposed to work fine with the old Provari's. :)

  • FT shipped this order yesterday. They got it assembled quickly even though several items were not in stock. This shipment will be even slower than the new slower because one item has a battery. Except for the slip rings I consider this order to be vape toys.

Coming up after the above is a berserker mini and matching drip tip to go with the Mini 25w above. Then I'll have an all silver version to go with the all black posted earlier. I consider it as close to a rebuildable pod I'm likely to get.

I had them ship it as "4PX (Masks Prohibited) Express/Estimated 10-15 Business Days" Was this a mistake?
I've never ordered from Sourcemore, but i have been using 4PX through 3F,and they have been very good.My stuff has been averaging 2 weeks or less.My current order only took 7 days from time of shipping to Kentucky, and i should have it tomorrow,so total 9 days from time it was shipped.

My 4PX Sourcemore order shipped the next day--just as they promised. It's airborne as we speak.

I placed a similar order on the 16th. It's my first with SourceMore. All Vaporesso and all in stock. It's still showing as "processing." How long do they usually take to ship?

Look at your order at SM--some items carry a tag "24 hr," others ship in 3 to 4 days, even if they are stock. Some are shipped from a different warehouse. If you didn't divide your order according to the estimated shipping times, you may be waiting for the slowest items to be added to your package.

I paid 8 bucks for shipping from Sourcemore and it arrived in 3 months. Prior to that time I think I may have ordered from the US warehouse. They said the 8 bucks shipping had a 30 day turnaround time.

I do think if you are paying EIGHT bucks shipping from a China site, it should arrive within your specified window (which was 30 days) I mean if it's free I get it but if you are charging THAT much for shipping, you have an obligation.

I was gonna ask for my shipping back but based on "tales of Sourcemore assistance" and how bad it was well, I decided not to bother.

I placed an order with them last week for some RTAs and replacement parts, and it shipped the next day. They've definitely been faster than FT in my experience with them in the past, too.

Anyone spend a little bit too much beyond their means and are left wondering if the FDA is even going to enforce? It's a tricky predicament.

Not me. I'm a die-hard non-stocker. I got a couple of new RTAs because they interest me and I'm about to get another Aegis Solo because I really like the one I got some time ago. I may grab some more coils for my Zlides.

Oh, I bought some eliquids from my favorite vendors--for old times' sake. CA is banning flavored eliquids left and right, I'm afraid my county may jump on the bandwagon. But I DIY--so that purchase was totally unnecessary and purely sentimental.

I'm stocked for life, but I have not spent beyond my means. I quit smoking 6-1/2 years ago and would have spent over $30,000 on cigs had I kept smoking that whole time. I am quite certain I spent nowhere near that stocking up. :)

Yes, I do often wonder how much the FDA can or will enforce. It doesn't bother me either way. I've been vaping effectively for free for over three years now. The local bans that were imposed in some places starting last year don't affect me. When vape shops were closed in many places due to the virus earlier this year, it didn't affect me. If the FDA goes all medieval with enforcement, it won't affect me. If the feds pass the outrageous taxes they have bills in Congress for, it won't affect me. And if none of this happens, it still won't bother me because I can still vape essentially for free for as long as I care to. Literally the only thing I'm going to need to buy in the next 8-10 years are some fresh batteries. After that, I'll need some more PG, VG, and flavorings, but I do not think those will go away; they have too many other uses.

I'm fully stocked up, too, for myself and with enough to share with a few other people, too. But, I didn't spend beyond my means to get it all. Finding great deals and using coupon codes for most of it made a big difference! :)

However, I know several people who are truly having to really stretch their budget, in order to be prepared, so they can vape for the longterm. If they could spend the same amount of money over the span of the years ahead, I doubt there would need to be any "stretching". It's needing to spend quite a bit within a relatively short period of time...that's the concern for most. I'm finding deals and coupon codes for them when possible, but it's still a chunk of money they're spending.
