I can get 2 weeks from a z coil, I've done the math as to how long they'll last yet I'll still probably get a few more boxes .

Just as an FYI: I use unflvored NIC and usually get 3 months out of a Z-coil. Also, you can rinse and/or clean them to get even more use out of them, especially using a Sonic Cleaner. . . BTW: Ya' can Rinse them well & save them and do them all at once in the Sonic Cleaner . . . Just Sayin' . . .

Sonic Cleaner...I have sooo thought about getting one of these but which one or what kind?

Your choice and depending on your finances . . . Personally, I got one on sale over 9 years ago to use on cartomizers at first . . . It's a CD-2800 Ultrasonic Cleaner . . . I'd leave a link, but I'm using my phone right now . . . Maybe someone else can help or suggest one for Ya' and leave a link too . . . Just Sayin' . . .

well my last element vape order finally came in. 2 weeks shipping here left me wondering if it would arrive. batteries and 2 Dead Rabbit RTAs. I didn't strictly need the tanks but it is nice to have a couple extras. I have not used this particular one but at the time they were on sale for a low enough price I thought they were worth a try. The batteries I needed. LOL

My absolute pleasure . . . :D

I ordered one, yay me. I read some of the info regarding jewelry etc where it said use dawn or some cleaning solution. I imagine there aren't directions to clean vape gear so is it safe to assume I'd just use water in it? I don't want to vape soap  or is there a rinse cycle?

I just use water.

I did know a gentleman that used water + a denture cleaning tablet in his but that had the tendency to "flavor" the result and required additional cleanings to get the denture cleaning stuff out. So I just sort of never bothered.

It is something many of us did years ago. It sort of fell out of fashion over the years. Results can vary quite a bit. Some coils cleaned better than others. My own experience was that it was never as good as a new coil but it was decent and there is a diminishing returns sort of thing. The 5th cleaning will not be as good as the first.

This is one of the reasons I learned to build. After about the third cleaning it just worked better to rebuild that old protank coil and start the cycle over again. Don't judge I was painfully broke back then and every new coil was precious. I had to stretch them out as long as possible.

I just figured getting the cotton soaking wet with water would kind of mess everything up. But hey, if it worked for you that's great.

You can, but it really doesn't work. There's no way to remove coil crud by just soaking it in anything. You have to dry burn the coil, and it's not feasible with drop-in coils. We've tried every method we could think of in the old days.

The only way I know to dissolve some of the coil crud is to vape unflavored for a while; this method of wet burning, if you will, helps somewhat. But drop-ins are disposable. There's only so much one can do. Also, the wire deteriorates with prolonged use, and the wick, too.

I vape unflavored so my coils last a long time, but not forever. I like fresh coils--they just perform better.

Actually, back when all the coils used silica as the wicking material, you could dry burn them with the wick still inside them. I used to do that, then drop the coils in water and boil them in the microwave to get rid of the coil crud. It worked out pretty well. But of course, you can't do that with cotton wicks.

I was unaware that you could rinse and clean drop in coils.

As I mentioned in another thread - when the same discussion came up and what I do with Z-Coils:

Anyway - While there are a number of different ways that people clean these coils (and other coils too) Search Results for Query: Cleaning Coils | E-Cigarette Forum (BTW: Some people even change the "Cotton" in the Z-Coils and/or totally rebuild them - I haven't tried myself so no guarantees ) - I have a couple of different ways to clean the coils:

1) Down and dirty, just a very good rinse Rinse w/ HOT water and then let coil dry completely otherwise the damp cotton will not accept e-liquid as well.

2) Especially if using any "Darker" e-liquids . . . Rinse - then Soak for at least 12 hours (over night) in HOT Water and a drop or 2 of "Dawn" (any dish detergent might work too, just remember less is more). . . Rinse very well or in soak clean water for a couple of hours . . . Or in rare moments rinse/soak a little in - Vodka . . . Then Dry completely.

3) AND - Probably the best, especially if you are doing more then one coil at a time . . . Sonic cleaner - just follow the instructions for it's use.

As for taste after cleaning, most of the time no difference for "ME" at all - not even diminished. Remember I use Unflavored NIC . . . The only time I had a problem with "Taste" is when and if I used too much of "Menthol Crystal Liquid" as an additive to the mix besides Koolada. Otherwise all good. Now - since you both are using "Flavored Juice" - YMMV - so I would be more inclined to use a sonic cleaner to make sure all previous "Flavor" is removed.

NOW - Just as an FYI: Even with that said, after cleaning/using a few coils (including Prism T18/T22 coils) I have not "Tossed" them, but am saving them to clean until I get enough to do a mass cleaning with the sonic cleaner (doing 1 -2 -3 at a time in the sonic cleaner is ridiculous) .

BTW: Occasionally, I have had a coil totally fail (DOA) out of the wrapper - instead of tossing that one - cleaned it and it came back to "Life" . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)
