In NY, a pack runs about $12 these days. Several years ago, my daughter was in school in MS. I loved visiting her (yes, for her too) as a pack was ~$3.50 at the time. It was almost better than the duty free shop when flying (at the time I think it was). I do not believe I can legally order a carton online for delivery in NY, however, I've not personally tried, and generally relied on friends who would visit one of the reservations to bring me back a bargain once in a while.

As I've posted before State laws will have far more impact over the next few years than the Federal deeming regs. Those deeming regs, however, while not necessarily binding, will make it a lot easier for a State to defend a lawsuit by simply pointing out to the judge that the FDA decided it was a tobacco product.

I think what most are wondering is how their current state laws, that vary widely state to state, might change and be adapted to include everything vape related, both eliquid and gear, once they officially are deemed a tobacco product on 8/8/16. Some states have not waited until post deeming though and have enacted laws specific to everything vape related, if they are an example of what is to come to other states it does not bode well for current and future vapers.

Exactly. Once deeming goes into effect, all bets are off, and you can be sure that many, many states will jump on the bandwagon and merge vaping into whatever smoking laws they have. Also, as laws against tobacco become more restrictive (as is sure to happen in almost every state), these new restrictions will also encompass vaping. Even if the grandfather date is moved up to a more current year and all the mods and stuff we have now are still available 3-4 years from now, you can be sure it will be vastly more expensive (additional taxes) and much less convenient to get (many states will outlaw internet sales, I'm betting).

edit: Btw, I lied about being done stocking up. I have 6 mechs, 20 kicks, and another liter of 100mg on the way...:D:thumbs:

All this talk of tanks, mods, mechs & regs, drippers, gallons & gallons of nic that everyone is stockpiling.

So with everything bought inc. juice, wire & cotton,
What sort of cash totals are we at now? Myself is around £2000. Possibly more, I don't dare find out.

I am up to $1378.19 US dollars. I was starting from scratch though. All I owned before stocking up was a few ego batteries and cheap kangertech t3s tops which I bought one at a time so no spares.

I also had never done DIY so I bought bottles for nic, mixing bottles, syringes, etc.

In all of that mix was 3 Provari dragons as gifts, the whole starter kits, so very pricey. The rest of the Provaries are just the $35 ones.

I am set and happy now. Just one more nic purchase as I said before and spending my Provari points.

I have the money, this isn't hurting my budget one bit. I am lucky. My friends however know not to expect any gifts on their birthdays or Christmas for this next year. Nobody complained after opening their dragons

I figure I will top out at around $1500 and be set for many years to come.

For perspective, if you have enough for 5 years (and you probably are good for more if you have enough nic) that's $300 per year. I'm sure you spent way more on cigarettes than $300 a year when you smoked.

for me, there's nothing left to buy

I'm down to buying some new silica-gel packs ... end of Vape Mail Days are here for me.

This is a much better buy than the packets, which are disposable needing to replaces every month or so.
I have purchased several for different applications and they work great.

OSG-40 Silica Gel Dehumidifier Desiccant 40 Gram Orange NO Cobalt (II) Chloride
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015OTBJFG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hydrosorbent creates a 40 gram Silica Gel Dehumidifier desiccant unit which protects 3 cubic feet of enclosed space. It has top grade orange bead silica gel within a compact aluminum canister that measures 4" x 2" x 0.5". It has a built-in indicator that turns from orange to clear signaling a need for reactivation. This Silica Gel Dehumidifier can be reactivated in any oven with a lifetime expectancy.

My wife is from Chicago and around the Holidays we would ask her family members what they wanted for presents. They always asked for cigarettes, I was dumbfounded at first, then they told me how much a pack of smokes were.
Needless to say, everyone was sent many cartons for Xmas ;)
I just choked on that Chicago rate.........we cruise up to Oklahoma every now and then and have bought generics for $35 carton

Oh for sure. Cigarettes just for myself were $3990 per year. The other two folks I am supplying smoked more like $7000 per year..... EACH !!

Well worth every penny I spent. The banks sure don't pay enough interest to justify not buying up front with this kind of savings on the table.

Dang. I can remember getting a carton of Camels at the Commissary for $2.50 when I first signed up.
I remember (back in the 60s in Oklahoma) when the cigarette vending machine in the laundry room in the dorm at college went up from $.25 to $.35 over one summer and we were all soooo angry...the nerve of "them" raising the price! More than anything we were mad because now it wasn't good enough to have a handful of quarters to do your laundry and buy cigs......now we had to make sure we had DIMES too!

I am sending my old Provari mini 2012 yr model in for a check up. Works fine but figured I better get it checked over and cleaned just in case. The folks at Provari are so nice to deal with, just love the product and the service. So thanks to Provape for all their dedicated service and products all these years :):thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Fond memories. I used to be able to buy a pack in the PX of the VA hospital for ~$1.50. Doubt they still sell cigarettes in those hospitals anymore, but with the US VA, you never know what the latest deal is. Could also get a great pair socks for less than a dollar too. Those were the days.

Doubtful. They were doing a full on war against cigarettes before I retired back in 1999. Wouldn't surprise me in the least that you can't get smokes on base any more.

I can't even begin to say how much they have done for me.

When all is said and done with this FDA BS ... ProVape is exactly the kind of company the FDA will have to justify putting out of business.

Even though ProVape is staying sort of mum on things (hinting that they may close).

They've sold 500,000 ProVaris ... solid devices that are still out there helping people stay off cigarettes.

the FDA is about 8 years late on hijacking Vaping.

I still remember many of the patients smoking without a problem there, which worked out for me as I didn't have to try and go outside to smoke. Now hospitals don't want cigarettes within 200 feet of their entrance, which is appropriate. But at the VA, for some of those guys who were long term patients and unlikely to ever leave, at least were able to hold onto one thing that gave them pleasure. Given how much they lost, they deserved it.

I was hoping they might just apply to FDA, but with the dim view on open systems FDA has, it is probably pointless. I sure would hate to see them close over this tho.

I see everyone posting that they are stocking up, but very few are stating/informing their exact state laws.
I live in WVa, I can buy tobacco and alcohol on line as I've done it.
So....what state is everyone in and what are your particular laws?

Here in NC you can buy tobacco and alcohol online with an adult signature. A tax on e-liquid containing nic of 5¢ a ml regardless of nic strength has been in place for over a year. There also a law that tobacco products that aren't cigs (which have a per pack rate) are taxed at 12.8%. If anything I expect the deeming to cause NC to add that tax rate to hardware and to extend the no smoking laws to vaping. Though I could always be surprised.
