Good excuse to get some Altoids.
I use Altoids tins for fishing gear, vape gear, whatever.

Love Altoid tins. ;)

I have a package that departed Nassau, NY on the 16th.
It's still showing "in transit to destination".
Wonder if the snow storm created a backup?
I would love to tell you yes, but who knows anymore. I've gotten to the point of, it will get here when it gets here! Lol hopefully you will get it this week.

I ordered a couple of 100' spools of Kanthal and S316L in 26ga from Amazon yesterday. Wire won't go away, but having it on hand is a good thing.

So, what's the favorite wire gauge for Kanthal and SS here in the stocking up forum. Steam Engine show me that smaller is better in terms of heat capacity and quick heat up. Since I tend to run .6 to 2 ohms depending on wire size and type. I might be better off with 30 gauge instead of 28ga. The 26ga SS that I ordered is probably going to cause slow heat up at 10W.

Give it another 2 or 3 days, then contact the vendor and USPS. We had some bad weather last week, but not that bad.

I've used Temco for a couple of years. Mine came rolled up in a zip lock bag from Amazon. This time I ordered "Master of Clouds" SS316L that comes on a regular wire spool.

I never got it that way from Temco, it always came on a proper spool. It might have been a third party vendor reselling Temco wire.

It was advertised as Temco, but I didn't notice a supplier name on the order. They could have been selling it from a huge spool in a warehouse for a lower price. It's good wire, so I got my money's worth.

I went back and looked at the 2014 Amazon order. Clicking the item on the past order shows the item on a Temco spool and the page shows it to be sold and shipped by Temco. I guess they were out of spools and someone went to the warehouse and clipped off 100' and put it in a bag in an envelope and shipped it!

Quite possible. I do agree on a spool is a lot easier. I've never bought wire in a bag, but I would think it's a pain to deal with (bad enough when it starts unspooling because I didn't have the end properly secured).

They wrapped the inside end around the coil several times to secure it. I just slide off an outside turn and clip it. One turn is about right for what I need to wind a coil and have more than enough on the ends to mount it. I never put it on a spool because it's easy to clip a length. That, and I have several spools that have wire still on them. Waiting for an empty spool is a long wait when you use 6 inches once or twice a month!
