I feel like I'm getting alot more nicotine. I just starting using 16mg after being on 18mg for 10 1/2 months, and this batch that was made at 16mg seems stronger than the 18mg. I don't know I'm tired and stressed so maybe I screwed up. Just to play it safe I will order and test.
A good friend of mine owns a big contract juice manufacturing business and he told me recently that the "100mg NIC" he buys in bulk has ranged from 75mg to almost 130mg over the last couple of years. It is generally spot on, but it isn't rare for it to be off.

Not as if we are buying ISO and FDA approved/regulated NIC really, so accidents can happen...

I'm not done stocking, and waiting for labor day sales trying to find ways to free up funds. I'm done with nic, have enough tanks, saw Griffin 22 clones for like $12 on ebay, may have to add a few of those. @kross8 which clones did you have?
Just be careful with the Griffin clones on ebay.I have bought several off ebay, and some were very true 1:1 perfect clones,a few others were absolutely horrible quality, almost to the point of being unusable.I would give you the link to the last person i bought from, but i got the last 3 he had,but there are others selling the same ones he had. There is at least one other seller that has the good ones. They have it right in the main listing title,it says tight airflow ring and tight juice control. Those are the ones to look for,are the ones that say it either in the title or somewhere in the description.I got 3 at first that the air flow ring and juice control are so loose that just raising the mod to take a draw would cause the juice control to close, horribly loose.
Here is an example of the ones stating tight ring and juice control, this one is more expensive than what you found, but just an example.

I read the thread on here about the materials needed for a kit. Went to PetsMart and bought the "API pH Test Kit" found in their aquariums section. Think it was like $6.98 or close to that. It contains the instructions, the Bromo Blue you need, a little test tube for doing the test, and a color scale chart to compare your results to. There's enough in the kit for many times doing a test, too!

The only other thing I needed to buy was a small bottle of the R-0009 Sulfuric Acid .12N. Got it at a pool supply store. First pool store didn't have it, but a second one did. Think it was about $3.50 for the 22mL bottle of it.

Did a test on some nic I'd bought with it. Worked well and was easy-peasy to do it.

in for a penny in for a pound, I love my griffin and I will be ordering more authentics
I agree,i have probably 30 rta's,but the Griffin has been my absolute favorite.Right now i have 2 authentic,3 very good quality clones, and 3 horrible clones that will just be used for parts, plus an authentic Griffin 25.I plan to get a few more authentic, and if i can find a killer deal on the good clones,i'll get a few more of those. The last clones i got,the guy was clearing them out,and i got them for $9 each,i can't tell the difference between them and my authentic ones.

Glad you posted that, I'd copied that info, but didn't note who, or what thread. I even thought that it was you, but wasn't 100%, and hated to quote without the other info. :)

Darn it I meant Fast Tech. Made you go through all that trouble.

Fozzy might be right about authentics though, and I just found some for about the same price anyways compared to the one on FT with the extra glass and O-rings.

That's why I want to test it, maybe it was me that messed up. I don't know...

Easy way I've found to no "mess up" is not to measure every time you mix a batch...

I use a 250 mL bottle that I have marked exactly how much 100 mg nic, PG and VG is necessary to mix to my preferred strength. Easy to do, figure with a DIY calculator exactly how much of each component you need to make a 230 mL to 240 mL batch, (it leaves room for shaking to mix). Using a syringe measure exactly how much nic you need to add using water, add it to the mixing bottle and mark the level on the side...repeat for the VG and PG marking each. Dump out the water and you have a custom mixing vessel.

I mix up a batch and pour into smaller bottles for adding flavorings, easy to mix up whatever flavor I get a hankering for...

Yep! It was me most likely. I remember posting it on some thread awhile ago, when someone else wanted to try finding the materials for it locally.
You do also need a little bit of distilled water to do the test. I'd forgotten that, but just found the instructions I'd copied from a Sticky on the DIY board. They seemed to be easier than several others I'd read about. They're below in case anyone else wants to do a test with local materials:

    Steps:

    1. Pour some distilled water in the cylinder, swirl it, dump it out. (Can be graduated cylinder, test tube w/markings, beaker, etc.)

    2. Repeat step 1.

    3. Repeat step 1.

    4. Dry cylinder with a sliver of paper towel.

    5. Put 1mL of eLiquid in the cylinder

    6. Add 2 drops of bromo blue

    7. Fill cylinder to the 3mL mark with distilled water

    8. Swirl to mix

    9. Add a drop of the acid

    10. Swirl to mix

    11. If the color of the solution didn't turn pale yellow, repeat steps 8-9

    12. Measure the final volume

    13. Subtract 3 from the number you read in step 12

    14. Multiply the result of step 13 by 19.4712

    15. The resulting number is the mg/mL

No worries, glad to get that info out there anyway,as there may be others planning to get them off ebay,so hopefully keep a few people from getting unusable rta's.
Also, for anyone who needs just the Griffin base,Focal sells them.I plan to get a couple to hopefully make my junk clones into usable tanks.Only problem is,there are no reviews on them,so i hope they don't turn out to be garbage too.

I've thought about doing it like that before. However, doing the above, and then adding the flavorings...will dilute the nic, and throw off my PG/VG ratio somewhat, especially if I'm making a high flavoring % recipe. I've also got to watch my total PG in anything I make, because anything more than 40% gives me a bad headache.

I could definitely see it working though, if someone vaped unflavored, or used only a minimal % of flavoring in their recipes, or didn't need to carefully watch their PG/VG ratio.

How about just a Vaporesso Gemini base? Was about to go hunting. Got one on clearance but it reads 0.4 coils at 3 ohms...

Ha! Quick search didn't find a base for this, but found out that a Griffin base will fit. Solution found!

I am going to make up a larger batch for testing flavors when I get around to it. I am going to make one batch for a 5% and another for 10%. Should make it easier for making 5ml test batches instead of trying to be highly accurate with the nic in such a low volume.
