Hey guys check me out I'm tootle puffing! Built a 1.55 coil and wicked with cotton, running at 14W, max VG ugh. Must say I was definitely not expecting the draw to be this tight.

If I open the airflow anymore the 510 connector touches the airflow screw and the resistance starts going haywire. I've opened the juice flow as far as it will go without coming apart. Any other tricks to get some more airflow going in this thing or is it supposed to be like this? Don't remember pulling this hard on my nautilus Mini.

Also, I'm coughing my face off. Didn't expect that coming from DL. Might have to put it down for the night to stop making such a racket.

Welcome to the land of 30ml of juice lasting a week and batteries lasting for days.

I think you can take the airflow screw right out. Not 100% sure on that. I prefer a tight airflow. If you are looking have a look at the Kayfun V5. It is supposed to have more airflow. That was enough to turn me off it. Or you may be content with the gear you have.

I think a tank like the Merlin is a nice step up from a Kayfun. It has a huge build deck and can go MTL or airier draw plus top fill. I think efun had them for $16 plus a couple bucks shipping.

I built a 1.7 ohm coil using 28 guage kanthal and a 3mm diameter. Not sure the Kayfun could keep this one wicked if it even fit.

Does fine at 8 to 10 watts.

View attachment 594973 Here is my rayon, figured I may as well test that too :) LOL Now to juice it and burn it and see how that goes :)
Looks like you need more Rayon.

Cotton and Rayon wicks differently.

Cotton swells so the wick needs to be loose enough to slide.

Rayon shrinks so the Rayon needs to be tight.

Ok good that is what I got, no glow when wicked and juiced :) I actually built this and and am vaping it! My first try at building anything Yippee! I must say I like rayon, I may have tried to use too much wick, flavor is a bit muted, but maybe that gets better as the coil breaks in?? But I can say this VVTF V2 is rebuild-able and even a novice like me did it LOL ! It is small so a magnifier and light is a must in my opinion.
edit: I watched people rebuilding the actual nautilus coils and this seems way easier IMO. I got two for $15 total on ebay. Using it in the Nautilus tank.
Congrats. Rayon needs to be so tight it squeaks as pulled in the coil.

Thin the tails and it wicks even better.

I know somebody in this thread has to rebuild protank coils and I need a little help please? I can't seem to get the rubber grommets out without ripping them to pieces. I do have some spare grommets and I have rebuilt a couple of them tonight so I feel pretty comfortable with having that part down. But I just can't seem to budge these grommets without ripping them.
I built the pro Tank coils.

The best size fof tge coil is 1/16 inch using 28 or 30 gauge wire.

You cannot Dry burn tge coil ot you will burn through the insulator.

Taking the coil apart.

Pull the top off the coil head.

Pull the positive PIN out of the grommet.

Gently get a finger nail under the grommet and gently pull the grommet out of the coil head.

Yes I was dreading it, but actually did not go too bad :) I had the rayon pretty tight when I pulled it thru but not sure I trimmed enough, there was rayon poking out a little, but good point I can rewick and see how that goes. I think I'll try it in the Kabuki before I do just to see if it has more flavor, the Nautilus started gurgling and that is typical for that tank for me.
Well congrats for rebuilding.

The first two or three builds will be hard but after 2-3 builds it will be much easier than you ever thought.

No way woukd i go back to premade coils.

I recently went back to my Kabuki for something small to grab. Put a Triton mini 1.2 coil in it, went to vape, and felt like I was sucking on a straw. And that was with the air flow screw essentially out. A few draws and I guess I started to get used to it, but I realize I need more air. It's not like I'm normally subohm cloud chasing. Most of my builds come in 0.5-1 ohm (OK, subohm, but not super subohm) and maybe 20W, but that draw was way tight. I think the tightest air flow I can now use and feel comfortable is on my Squape at the largest air hole, ~1 ohm at 17W.

Yeah, glad you got it going!
It's just a little tighter draw that I like too.

As for the coughing, did you by chance give it a bath in Dawn first? I've read comments that machine oil residue will cause coughing.

That hurts. 39 bucks for a 2.5! I just paid 10 dollars over that price 48 hours ago....talk about lousy timing.

On the plus side, it has already shipped.
Hey there. You know you can contact them. Chances are very high they'll refund you the difference.

5 FT packages arrived just as I was leaving the house to go on vacation. 6 mods, glass, Nemesis magnets, etc.

Won't even get to look at them until I'm back Monday. Aasggghhhh!!!:D
I got a dozen coils i use in another Atty from FT this morning.

I have a total of 30 coils and have another 20 coiks coming.

Those are for Stealth vaping.

Thanks, feel like I earned my builder stripes now.

I gave it the best rinse I've ever given a tank but I think you're right. Read that in another thread after I posted and was curious. Will take it apart and give a good clean when I get back from work. Guess I'll dump the 1 ml of juice left.

Sometimes it really feels that we have earned them!:thumb:

Do that, it can't hurt, and I'd dump the remaining in that tank too. :)

I've also found that some of these tanks just produce a lot of flavor, and some mute the flavors more.
For me, the same juice can be way too strong in one type of tank, and may need to be diluted a bit, or even a different batch made with a lower % of flavors, but then perfect in another different type of tank.
    It's a learning process for sure.
