stuck in a squishy pod called my brain
Today marks 1 year of no smoking for me... yah! yes I vape,, and according to European 'FDA' I have reduced my harm 95-98%. I feel good,, no I feel GREAT!

Its sad that the American FDA is trying so hard to keep people from converting to vaping over cigs,,,but then again.. they are the govt and the simple math says American's lose value as they approach 65.

I make my own ejuice,, so I control how much nicotine I use,, most of the time its 0mg,,, sometimes its 1 or 2mg.... a cig has 8 to 20mg each.

Nicotine is not the bad part of cigs,, its the carcinogens in cigs. Europe/others are starting to give Nicotine the same label that caffeine carries.. addictive yes,, but mostly harmless. Nicotine is showing promise in 'keeping the brain cells connected & communicating' later in life to avoid diseases of the brain.

Our govt would be better served trying to control other major risks in our lives: refined sugars/processed foods, plastic packaging,, GMO foods. The real risk is if an estimated 50% of babies born in 2025 will be autistic due to the inherited harms of their ancestors habits & diets.

Anyway,, I am happy about hitting this marker,, please dont give me a lecture on its safety unless you can prove your lifestyle and health are pristine.

At a conference last Thursday, in a special panel discussion about GMOs, she took the audience by surprise when she declared, “At today’s rate, by 2025, one in two children will be autistic.” She noted that the side effects of autism closely mimic those of glyphosate toxicity, and presented data showing a remarkably consistent correlation between the use of Roundup on crops (and the creation of Roundup-ready GMO crop seeds) with rising rates of autism. Children with autism have biomarkers indicative of excessive glyphosate, including zinc and iron deficiency, low serum sulfate, seizures, and mitochondrial disorder.

Congrats! I am right with you as I hit a year a few days ago.

I spent a small (OK, big!) fortune on vaping this year and beyond the odd crappy bottle of juice, I have no regrets from anything I have purchased. Soooooo much better than smoking, isn't it? :)

My wife and I are both 100% smoke free and definately healthier, happier and less stinky. :D

Congratulations!

I hear you about being an expensive year. Been excessively expensive for me also, but two years. Went through loosing mi Poppa to Cancer, FDA BS and building up my stash. Then to top it all off my cat died, was like loosing a child.

I just want to finish up this year and get through the next. I'm planning on retiring early in 2018, I've done more than my part and put up with way too much BS over the last few decades. This next year my main priority is downsizing, what I can't fit in 4 or 5 bags (one trunk will be Vape gear!) I don't need. I'm then going to literally just go where the wind blows.

I am very sorry for both of your losses. Congrats on your retirement plan. Downsizing and going with the wind sounds so appealing. :) I might just do that, haha maybe in 20ish years. ;)

Thanks, yeah been rough couple of years but life is life ya know. One cannot know or appreciate happiness or joy without knowing pain ;)

As for retirement, do it early. Wasn't going planning on retiring until I was well into my 60's or maybe even early 70's. But those who wait that long seriously really can't really enjoy it because that's when your health goes down. Figure mid 50's, live simply and enjoy life. I figure on living simple and truly enjoy and experience life ;)

I retired 3 months before my 51st birthday! I'd taught school for 30 years (which I dearly loved), and would have taught for 5-10 more easily, but too many changes I didn't like were coming to our school district. Friends said, "Won't you be bored...being retired at only 51?" I told them I doubted it, but I'd let them know in a few years. Never been bored yet, and that was just slightly more than 12 years ago!

I honestly don't know how I had the time to teach, grade papers and make parent phone calls at night... AND sell part-time on eBay, take care of 8+ critters including horses, and the rest of my normal activities! My health has remained excellent, especially since I quit smoking nearly 3 years ago. Only thing is...I don't like the weight gain that came with AT ALL!

So, I'm with you - retire while you can still enjoy life, do things you've always wanted to do, take up new hobbies or interestes if you want to, travel, etc. Too many wait too late to actually enjoy their retirement years IMO.

I retired about 6 years ago, as soon as I could get Medicare, and I quit cigs and started vaping. Started having a few health problems and haven't been able to do much of what I had wanted to, but thanks to ecigs, I found a new hobby to tinker with. I do enjoy not being part of that rat race called work, and being able to relax and take it easy. :)

Since I went back to 3% nic last Aug. my weight has gone down 10-12 lbs! That is after 7 months on 0 nic and a weight gain of about 15-18 lbs. Only a few more pounds and I will be at the weight I had one year ago. My lifestyle and eating habit has just been the same all along........

i am sorry to hear of your loss..that's gotta be tough.
i hate that i need to buy more gear,, but those darn nebox's are so undependable. i see one of the venders always advertising them for $20,, but for the same price + i can get more pico's which havent failed me yet. i think i have too much spare glass,,, but down the road i will likely be glad.

We must be separated at birth. ;)

Earlier today, I was thinking about how many glass/poly replacement tanks as well as bell caps I have. I use 7-8 different style tanks regularly and likely have 100 total replacement tanks. Doesn't sound like overkill, but my wife and I have broken 4 tanks in a year, and 2 were user error my first week vaping. I guess it is good to be prepared though!

Don't get me started with cheap mech mods, Provaris and wire either. :w00t:

knock on wood, i haven't broke any glass parts or anything. (the nebox commits suicide randomly). i have 15 pieces of glass lol,, i would rather have 6,, but i bought multi packs,

i really dont like to own anything,, my husband is the hoarder lol. he figures i will have a uhaul show up within a week of his passing to empty the house.....i think he is probably right. he points out that we have nice stuff,, i agree,, but it would be better at someone else's home that could use that stuff.

edit--i must claim fault for a usb on 1 pico,, but the mod still works fine.

Everytime I think I'm done I think of something else I might need!
I also will be retiring soon! And I also thought I would work till my mid or late 60s! I will be 60 when I retire in June and am scared but excited! I teach high school and the move to technology 99% of the time and the constant dog and pony shows have me wore out!
But soon that fixed income will be staring back at me and I never feel like I have enough blister packs to last me 20 years!
I can build coils but I haven't dipped my toes into DIY yet!

I remember leaving work that final day, early, and driving the 30 miles home on these crowded freeways, It was a surreal drive. I was thinking about not having to do this anymore, what a feeling, I was kinda giddy. I was also thinking about being walked out of the building. After 34 years of working there, they had to send someone with me to make sure I didn't do anything bad on my way out, and I could tell that my supervisor was a little uncomfortable doing that. Once I was on the other side of the door, I was FREE!
I had planned on working a few more years until the wife retired, but once reaching medicare age, I decided I can't take this anymore, and it was time to go. I don't know what I would be like after another 2 or 3 years in that pressure cooker. Even after the health problems afterwards, I have been happier, and over the last 3-4 years the e-cigs have helped with the stress and kept me on an even keel. So for me it has all worked out ok. :)
