Polar bears will attack no matter what you do so you might as well run shoot them.
Fixed that for you. ;)

We have eastern black bears where we go deer hunting. We have yet to encounter one, but have seen them on our trail cams.

LOL I loved all the slo--mo cursing, to be honest that was my favorite part.

Ending somewhat anti-climactic, but I think I am going to add "bear" as things at the top of my list not to hit on a bike. And, TRUCKS are on that list.

The trucker might at least stop (if he noticed he hit you) and like, contact some 911, maybe. It might be useless, but like more chance of your relatives finding out what happened to you.

Also, this thread... No matter what we do, it gets infested by bears. It may be the most dangerous thread on ECF at the moment besides the Shinyitis thread. LOL

That's funny because I did the same yesterday! I used some of my "2018" stash and wanted to replenish.

This stuff works wonder, Rossum. Best I've found by far.

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B001VMNHX8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The blue STABIL (or Briggs & Stratton equiv) is good too, but this stuff kicks their hineys. I drop into into the cans before filling them, and it keeps everything NICE and clean. I always shut small engines via the petcocks too, which also helps a lot.

Don't even bother with any of the red stuff. You'd be just as effective ...... into your gas tank (building on a previous topic).

Gotta keep those small engines running!
Beat me to it! Stabil rules. We just off loaded our gas stash to the camp for the duck hunting/fishing boats to use up. Maybe we could timeshare a tank. I’ll take it for hurricane season, you get it for the winter :)

More off topic bear "stuff":

I've been up to many parts of Alaska on (6) 2-3 week trips so far since 2000. Going again this coming summer. Haven't actually encountered any bears yet on trails we've hiked or while biking along some roadways.

However, I've been close enough to them, for my own comfort...while watching them grab and eat salmon from rivers, scrounging along the shoreline and climbing the rocky mountainsides when we've been on boats about 50 feet out from shore. Have had 2 closer encounters with them darting across the road, while driving out of town in Juneau. I nearly hit 1 of them, it was such a close call. There was also a Momma bear and 2 cubs feeding in a very shallow ditch along the roadside driving from Skagway, AK to Whitehorse in the Yukon. One idiot in the car actually started to get out to photograph them, when they were only about 20 feet away from the road!

Had the chance to see 2 males fighting for a "favorite napping spot", at the Alaska Wildlfe Conservation Center outside of Whittier. People are on a high, concrete catwalk around their approx. 2 acre enclosure, so it's pretty up close and personal to them. After seeing those 2 go at it and listening to it, too,...I definitely don't want to meet 1 in the wild!

Largest 1 I've ever seen was in a museum display at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks. Was a Kodiak, that was 9' tall standing up. His paws were huge and claws were at least 6-7" long past the hairline.

ETA: IMO, everyone should visit Alaska at least once in their lifetime. The clean crisp air, the scenery, the abundant wildlife, the very friendly people, etc. all help to make it truly like no other place on Earth. Best way to go is to plan an independent trip though...not to take 1 of the cruises. You really don't get to experience "the real Alaska" at all, just taking a cruise and doing several off-the-ship activities in usually only 3 ports. Anyone is welcome to PM me if they're interested in more info anytime. :)

This is like the bear I least want to be "infested by" honestly.

That dude would be a relentless pain in the rear. "Just Keep Going," is so not my life motto. It's kind of the opposite of my life motto, mine is "Rest When Able."

I would do a show with Bear Gryllis (if they paid me enough) and if they also let me keep a "running commentary" on what was happening. Like, "No, Bear, I am NOT going to drink the rabies infested swamp water that you've strained out of the British Handkerchief that you fashioned from the parachute you landed right next to an active volcano. The camera man is LIKE right there, and he seems to have some Spring water in a bottle. What is your PROBLEM??" and etc.

I would totally do that show.

I've only been to Alaska once, way back in 1970, when I was 11 years old and getting there was an adventure involving thousands of miles of dirt roads.

I remember that Kodiak vividly. I'm glad to hear he's still there.

My first time up there was in 1974...a 6 weeks trip with my aunt, to Alaska and the Yukon Territory, as a college graduation present from her. Next trip, to Alaska only, wasn't until 1996...when I took my Mom and Godson with me. Then the repeat visits since 2000. I'll keep going back as long as I'm physically able to enjoy it.

I, too, remember the dirt roads, and the gravel ones! Locals used to routinely carry a spare windshield with them! Many roadways have been greatly improved now though. The Alaska Marine Highway System ferries are wonderful ways to get around, too!

I don't know about now, but he was still there at least in 1996, when we last visited Fairbanks. :)

OT- My close encounter with a black bear was not close but I was at a hunting cabin in upper PA, remembered I had some snacks left in my car so went out in the dark to get them and the hair stood up on my neck when I saw Bear scratches on my car! Yikes! Grabbed the snacks and ran to the cabin! LOL

We were staying at the family lakeside cottage in New Hampshire about 14 years ago. We left the drapes open at night so we could see the fireplace reflect in the glass. I was sitting in the chair next to the door and saw my dog outside. I said "What's Virginia doing outside?", looked down and there she was, inside, laying on the floor. Black bear 3' away but there was glass between us. He ran as soon as he saw me see him.

If anyone needs/wants PG and/or VG....I just posted about 4 offers you can choose 1 from, for anything at Bulk Apothecary...on the DIY Deals & Sales thread! The FREE Ground Shipping offer is good TODAY only, but 3 others are for all weekend! I've been using their PG & VG since I first started DIY, and so have many other people. It's very high quality stuff, IMO.

AW...What a snuggly cutie! I'll bet she had a great personality, too! :)

My Mom had 2 chowbradors! Their names were Pepper and Bear...a brother and sister that were dumped out here in the then "boonies" at about 3-4 months old. They were like her "kids" for 11-12 years. I loved their thick soft coats and their super friendly personalities.

I found her starving 8 miles outside of Hillsville VA.
We climbed to summit Mt. Washington in NH, she was my co-pilot 100MPH+ at the track in Nowalk OH and 120+ next to Okefenokee on the way to Key West where she introduced me to a naughty/nice veterinarian lady, we romped in The Rockies on the way to GCNP in AZ where we camped in the car for a week, we swam in a cove downstream from Niagara Falls, etc...
We had some good times.

Well I broke my not buying this weekend and picked up two more berserker mini's at 101vape, they are only $9.95. After using the doggy, my first fav is berserker :) I like the doggy but there is just some deeper richer thing going on in berserker that I like :)

I finally got my build right in the berserker too, I was not sure how much tail to use in the wells, but using rayon, I do the butterfly technique and then cut the tail part in a V shape, so just the tips go into the well, seems to work!

Seems like you're yet another definite convert now! I agree, too, that there is something, or several somethings, about them...that no other tank can match.
