I believe Kurt was up at seven years. I'm at five.

Based on the accelerated aging I've seen at room temperature, I do not think nicotine acts like milk, where it's good for a period of time and then suddenly goes bad. In fact, its degradation appears fairly linear to me, and based on the fact that I've seen essentially none in 5 year old nic that's been properly stored, I believe we can count on it to stay usable for decades.
Nic Base Storage: Freezer vs. Room Temp Experiment

When your other choice is nothing, seems quite a realistic approach.
I have 5 liters in the freezer and have been mixing and freezing eliquid with pre made nic base so I don't touch the nic stash. Still have enough nic base to freeze quite a bit of eliquid. Just have to order more bottles.

10 months, I can work with that. Don't get me wrong I have a decent stockpile but I'll never be comfortable with how big it is. Mods I'm probably all set with (not that I won't buy more), tanks a good number of RTA and sub ohms but I'm going to need a lot more RTAs. What are some of the favorite direct lung RTAs nowadays? I don't so much like the Griffins I have much, too many leaking issues.

The real stock for me is nic. My 5L in my Dads basement I don't count so I need freezer nic. Luckily the stuff is still cheap enough that I can get a 40 years stash pretty easily.

Bold of you to order nic in the summer. Was it nice and clear? Did it smell okay? From which vendor? I learned the hard way to NOT buy nic in the summer. At least here in CA you’re basically asking for oxidized nic if you order now
i got nic from nicotine river, because they offered 17 percent off for the forth.
they sent it fed ex n it seems fine.
i couldn't wait for cool weather because you guys make me nervous.
i can;t understand why there isn't a huge sin tax on nic.
    that's unlike the govt.

I totally understand. I've been practicing incredible self-restraint waiting until the cooler temperatures.

I do not think the FDA can. However, someone like the CPSC could potentially decide that loose lithium-ion cells are too dangerous to sell to the public. I think we'd get some warning though.

I've just started a storage test try find out whether storage at lower temperatures is helpful. Some people claim it is and others claim it's not. It will be roughly a year before any I have any real data, and it will probably take several years before I have definitive answers.

Anyway, I think stocking up on batteries would be premature. Worst case, they can be harvested from power-tool packs.

I would be interested in your results.

Long term battery availability has been a concern of mine.

I got some nic from MFS with the 4th sale. It was 17 off and free shipping. They sent it 2 day fedex and it was fine. I’ve rebottled it and it is in the freezer. I’m stocked well enough now that I’ll wait for fall to get any more.

I got some recently cause I wanted the armor one from NudeNic. The package wasn't even warm on arrival and I am in a very hot climate. I have nic that is 10 years old and it is fine.

I don’t think they’re on to us yet. They’re old guys who don’t always understand how anything works out here in the real world. They’re probably assuming the nic sales are all to juice makers, and regulating that end of the community covers everything.

If they knew we were buying nic directly, and if we were buying it openly from carry outs in beer-like quantities, it would already be taxed to the moon and back.

Yep. If nic base was taxed at levels comparable to cigarettes, a liter of nic base would cost something on the order of $10k.

Of course taxing it like that would create an "informal market" almost instantly.

stuck in a squishy pod called my brain
I'm traveling right now but wanted to let others know (&spread the word for me) Monday night 9/10pm cnbc is going to broadcast a new anti-vape program. Cnbc is biased to pharmaceuticals. Pharmaceuticals lose money when you stop dying of cancer. Big tobacco Wants Into vaping because the profit margin is huge ..their problem is getting market share with pods...juul is popular but any visitors to a vape shop will find better systems in a variety of pod systems. Think about it..you ventured away from the gas station into better equipment pretty quick.

Anyway..just a heads up if you want to watch the program..i may be travelling so i don't know if i will be able to catch it.

Sigh. I went on a slight spree. I mean, it wasn't expensive, LOL even I recognize I do not need more mods but someone was discussing the Xpromizer and it looked SO my speed and then of course I had to like get the extension tube and that meant Fasttech and like this RTA IS MY SPEED they offer a bubble version made of pyrex. I got 5 more bubble glass tubes for my True tanks which like, it may as well be 50 the way *I* do things but I'm just refusing to BUY 50 I mean my fine motor tremor is getting better.

I also got 3 more Y2K doggies because they are my FAOVORITE and like, well, I guess it is what it is.

I AMOST can't wait for the 10 months to be UP, honestly.

No more mods that is a pledge and A GOOD thing because I buy expensive mods.... The atomizers are easier to swallow. LOL.

And, I have stuff to do besides shopping even if I can afford it.

This may (depending on how things look) become a time, near the end, where I just withdraw the CASH I need for the week and then HAND the bankcard to the husband.

But, there is paypal. I could get the husband to change the password.

The discussions on DIY and storing nicotine are interesting...but...I'm an unsophisticated vaper and an energy conservationist (ie. lazy)...thus I don't foresee ever getting into DIY...(no matter what the FDA does)...

I primarily vape UNflavored nicotine and WTA...(UmbaVape ejuice when it's on sale at OmVapors for $6.99-$8.99 for 120ml.)...

So...any ideas on how a 120ml. hard plastic (chubby Gorilla) bottle with nicotine 6mg. or WTA 18mg. in 70VG/30PG...would fare in a freezer???

I'm glad in your case it worked for you. Did you give it a sniff test? For me, that's even more important than color because if it smells even a little off, I'll probably not vape it. Damn me and my picky palate!

Better than at room temperature! Two years in, I'm not seeing a big difference between glass and plastic in my freezer samples. See here.

    Thanx Rossum...

I know it would not even be close to storing nicotine in a glass bottle...but...do you think a 120ml. chubby Gorilla would freeze OK...without breaking???

(I realize I could just go ahead and test it...but I'd hate to waste $8.99 if you knew the result)...

I'm not familiar with the exact bottles you're talking about, so I can't offer any guarantees. But I can say this: Unlike water, PG and VG shrink a bit in the freezer, so breakage is not as much of a concern. My biggest worry would be: How brittle does that plastic get at freezer temperatures? My guess is that it will be fine.
