Yep! IMO, it's because there are more than just a few people who still regularly buy them. Several ECF members I've been helping to get stocked up...have been using only the older Kanger clearos/tanks and coils since they first came out! That's a lot of years and boxes of coils! Also, since the coils for the older Kangers fit so many different ones...they only needed to buy maybe 2-3 of the types of coils.

My niece and my hairdresser, too, both still like and use the various Evods, ProTanks, AeroTanks, etc. One of the things they like about them is that they don't have to buy a huge variety of different coils for them. My hairdresser has decided she really likes the Zenith tanks now, too, but my niece is still sticking only with the other tanks.
The advantage I have is even if it is a crap generic coil I can rebuild it given the parts from the crap coil into something nice. So those generic protank coils from fasttech I can make into something decent and at $4 for 10 I can stock up on the cheap.

but what shocks me is some of the prices that some sites charge for ancient coils... Some might have them at $3 per pack while another might have them for $15.

Those with the really high prices know there are people who dearly love their older set-ups and will pay the price to get it. I know someone who was still paying $24 a piece for Vision Spinner type batteries,$6 for Evod tanks, and $8/box of coils...from the same vendor the whole time she'd been vaping. Supply and demand, the harder something is to find, etc. can make prices crazy sometimes. It especially annoys me when loyal customers are being ripped off, by the vendor they've been with for many years...just because they don't know it. ;)

I just always assumed the vendor over-estimated how many they thought they would sell... but what shocks me is some of the prices that some sites charge for ancient coils... Some might have them at $3 per pack while another might have them for $15.

For my wife's Vivi Novas I found a place for $0.25 each, but others wanted like up to 10x that amount.
Remind me to go digging I might have a couple Vivi tanks or even evods floating around here that I will never use. No time right now unfortunately.

DW and I have a new, hopefully very temporary, guest.

A neighbor across the street thinks she may belong to someone another house over. I left a note on their door, haven't heard back from them yet, hopefully I will tonight.

It's just a little above freezing, we didn't want this little critter to freeze or get hit by a car. With 3 Aussie Shepherds, Nuggets (what the neighbour said she calls their bird [emoji3]) can't stay long.
Has your “house guest” gone home (fingers crossed)?
It’s good to know the admin for the coil compatibility chart is actively keeping it up. It’s great that it’s updated for everyone trying to match coils to tanks for stashing

For those who have a Serpent Elevate, what length did you cut your coil legs? The coily tool they enclosed has a big arrow on the 6 mm, so I'm assuming that's what they suggest. However, in Shawn Hoffer's top air RTA thread, he said his was marked at 5 mm. So which is it? I just got this a couple days ago and really want to put a build on it.
Here ya go. I absolutely love my Sepent Elevate

I have a couple. They’re pretty good. Have a couple of the RTAs too, and a couple RDTAs on the way.
My Wasp nano has a kind of thin ultem top cap. I really want to enjoy it but it gets too hot for my liking. Running coils around 0.4 Ohms at about 40W - not normally a combo that heats up other single coil bf rdas.

For those that are saving drop ins to rewick.....are you doing anything to them before putting away? How are you cleaning them?
I soak them in warm water to clean them a bit and let them dry out. When I get a stack I rebuild them assembly line style

I take all the pieces apart, clean them with dawn and water, dry, and store the pieces in pill bottles.

I just give them a hot water rinse and dry them, then they go in an old tin. I've wondered if jar filled with alcohol would be useful for a long soak.

I didn’t get the ultem , I have the frosted white and the blue. But my coils/watts are about the same and I don’t think it gets too hot.

Somewhere out there
I remember back when all we had were cig a likes and we all wanted more power, more heat. Now that we have more power, I want less LOL I don't like burning vapor and drip tips, I want cooler vape with flavor. We vapers can be so fickled LOL! I turned down the watts to 8.5 on the Boost and finally have it where I like it, cooler :)
