Walmart near me was out and I guess they decided to head to piggly wiggly where I was buying groceries and started buying all the big packs. What’s sad is I was really running out and I always buy a 12 pk, I had to push my way in to get my normal pack. I didn’t buy the 24 like all the crazy’s. Walmart needs to do this.;)
I am heading to do our usual weekly grocery run. I MIGHT have a look to see if our local store is sold out of a few things but really not sure I can be bothered. I rarely go down those aisles and tend to shop the outer perimeter of the store (fresh foods). For TP etc we stock up at Sams every 3 months so we always have a decent supply.

I won't go to our local Walmart after a recent experience of smelling Urine in the Grapes display. Yeah they have probably cleaned up the mess (yes I complained) but I just can't get the smell/image out of my head well enough to shop there again for fresh foods. Since that is 99% of what we buy on a weekly basis that means I don't shop there.

For water we have a zero water filter setup on a water cooler. So we always have 3 gallons of filtered water available. We also keep a weeks supply of bottled water (increases to 2 weeks during hurricane season). I have my 30 day pantry of dry goods and home canned goods that I permanently maintain.

Other than odds and ends we could easily hunker down for a very long time. I really doubt it will come to that though. Might toss in a few more Mio Water drops today so I can have that little bit of sweet in my water to make up for potentially running out of diet pepsi :)

The main items I replace weekly are tea, coffee, milk and eggs. We could go weeks without stocking up on food. It’s the way I was taught, when you grow up between paychecks you have to make your pantry last.

For me the weekly stockup is really fresh fruits and veggies, cottages cheese, feta cheese and DIet Pepsi. LOL can't tell I am diet can ya ;)

We don't drink coffee and only occasionally tea. Eggs I am set on. Milk we buy almond milk which has ridiculously long sell by dates and we use very little of it. We are probably good for a month on almond milk. I bake what little bread we eat amd a, good for those supplies (buy flour in 25 pound bags at sams when needed).

I’ve always bought in bulk since I don’t have a whole lotta time to be shopping all the time. My 20 rolls of tp was my normal. A full fridge and pantry has always given me the warm and fuzzies. Italy is locking down millions of people. I heard that North Korea executed by shooting their first virus patient. This is serious. People are dropping like flies. There is nothing wrong with taking care of you and your family for a long haul. I’m heading back to Walmart today for my Mom. They are elderly and I just want them to stay home. She needs personal items and ibuprofen and some other things she didn’t think about the last run. I plan on picking up more staples for us as well. I can’t say we could live for a very long time on what we have...but long enough to get through a quarantine for a month.

I use almond and coconut milk. They last so much longer. My son won’t touch it though. He’s so picky!

There is a guy down the road that has a stand, he’s who I buy fruit and veggies from. I think he buys from some of the trucking companies? His produce looks and taste better than my grocery store.

I have about a month worth of meat in my freezer. I dont buy much else except for some veggies and bananas. Gotta have my naners. I am not worried about the virus. We have it in the single digits here. Come another month or two it will be too hot to survive here.

the Dow was down 1800 points this morning,, then curbs were triggered to stop the losses,, this is my 3rd one,, 911, 2008 and now 2020.

russia declaring an oil war,, they are ok for 10 years to strangle it at $20-25,,,,uh,, dont be long any oil stocks.

So is this the bottom? Or more downside?

we dont know,, we are waiting for a pinch to show up on the charts indicating wallstreet is buying.... but Bank of America isn't concerned until 39 things happen,, which translates into Dow 20,000----yeah,, they are willing to let you loose 33% before they look to protect you.

the market is oversold right now and should bounce soon,, that upcoming peak will likely be your final chance to get out.

economically speaking,, lay offs will start piling up,, the debt bubble is 2x the amount that crashed 2008,, but this time its in car loans,, and corporate debt,, add the JIT of manufacturing,, and that its a 6 weeks swim for that JIT item.

some are talking 1929 type return to our values,,, i dunno,, yes its possible,, and many people need their priorities re-aligned. but I wont give up on the core american.

wages vs the ceo wages have really gotten out of whack,, this is a problem.- but then again,, most people dont really value their $,, too much entertainment and fun,, no rainy day funds.

Ive been saying that for more than 20 years. No ones life work is valued that much (the ceos) over the gal who cleans his toilet. The wage discrepancies are worse now then they were in 1929 too. Rockefeller wasn't making 3000% more than his lowest paid worker. Greed is evil.

correct,,

lets talk retirement,, CEO's got richer,, stock options,, and golden parachutes,, joe6pack got 401k and lost his pension.

everyone talking about raising social security,, that is probably a very good idea,, but everyone seems to think govt taxes etc is the way.........uh,, the money is at the companies who screwed you over to make the ceo richer,, companies pay a small tax every week to your social security (as well as what you pay),,,,,that tax should be 5times higher to adjust for future inflation etc. everyone running for the govt pot,, when the problem came from the rich companies.

last week the fed emergency cut rates .50 points,, they only have .75 left in the gun,,,,,,,,,,,,,um,, why do banks need a cut rate to loan money to each other?... thats the more important question,, and started the snowball effect to the downside in the markets.

What anyone gets paid is no business of anyone else. So what if a CEO is making ridiculous money in your opinion. If you don't like the company you work for nothing is stopping anyone from leaving. Your life is your responsibility.

we have entered into a bear market,, swing trade the bounces,, in your ira if you want to avoid taxes. this may be your gameplan for 2-10 years.
