Are you done stocking up?

So I've tried to skim the 2000 or so pages of this thread for an answer. Forgive me if it's all there already, but I have a few questions. Living in NY here and coming late to the game. Relatively new vaper.

1. July 1st 2020 is a sneaky NY vape ban, but I am unclear if vg, pg, and 100mg/ml nic are encompassed in that?

2. Sept. 9 looks like it is still on track in the US for deeming regulations. So what does that look like for 100mg/ml nicotine? What about mods, atomizers, and vaping wire? Am I stocking up for the rest of my life now? Don't wait until September when I could get lost in depleted inventory and crushed demand (like toilet paper)?

3. What about cigars and pipe blends? I purchase from Pipes & Cigars as well as LeafOnly for DIY NET. It looks like regulations affect those tobacco products as well. Is all that going to be more expensive, unavailable online, or something like that my Sept 9?

4. Are we likely to see a delay from that Sept 9 deadline?

Thanks,

PG and VG almost certainly not. Both have other, common uses, with no ready substitutes, and as long as they aren't being sold explicitly for vaping, they should be available. Nicotine base is unknown, but it has always been the obvious choke-point, so if there's one thing a person should stock up on, it's that. There are also bills in Congress that would tax it at very extreme levels.
2. Sept. 9 looks like it is still on track in the US for deeming regulations. So what does that look like for 100mg/ml nicotine? What about mods, atomizers, and vaping wire?
Nic base is an "unfinished product" and thus a gray area. Mods and atomizers will technically be illegal to sell unless they've had a PMTA filed. Wire has other uses, so like PG and VG, I wouldn't worry about that too much.
3. What about cigars and pipe blends?
I've never had any interest in either of them, so I haven't followed what's going on with them.
4. Are we likely to see a delay from that Sept 9 deadline?
At this point, I would say it's unlikely, and we certainly can't count on it. Of course another question is, how vigorously things will be enforced. My advice: Make a plan and execute it. Once you're done, you'll have one less thing in life to worry about.

Adding to Rossum's post, flavorings for diy juice will likely not be directly affected, since used quite a bit for non-vape purposes.

Hardware, yeah, stock up on your favorite mods and toppers, and spare parts if you can. Depending on enforcement levels, they may - or may not - make it through, and yes, scarcity and lack of options may happen.

Further, local / State regs may have a greater and quicker impact, before the sledge hammer comes down. :(

Thanks,

For your nicotine, you should consider the house brand at Heartland Vapes. It is a good quality nicotine at a good price. I think there’s a price break if you buy a gallon of their Nicotine Solution 100 mg. Nicotine. It is about $45 per liter. You should decide if you want the base of your nic to be PG or VG. I go with PG because it is much easier to work with. You will also want to figure out what your nic consumption is and there are online calculators for that and buy enough mix to last you as long as u want to vape.

You should also stock up on mods and attys. If you aren’t using RTAs, now is a good time to start. You can stock on drop in coils, but if u use RTAs that is one less thing you need to stock up on.

Um, there's a rather heart stopping notice on Central Vapors website that that says, in part, " if your zero-nicotine product is not made or derived from tobacco, it may still be a tobacco product subject to FDA regulation if it is intended or reasonably expected to be used with or for the human consumption of a tobacco product."

You can read the whole thing here:

Ejuice Steals sent an email newsletter that just came about 20 minutes ago: Today Only Free Shipping. Code is: enjoyfreeshipping

That gives those of us on the East coast...2.5 more hours to take advantage of it. You West coast people have 5.5 more hours though.

ETA: Just in the last 2 hours...Geek Vape Zeus tanks have appeared in their Clearance, for just $19.99 per tank. Only Gunmetal is available. If anyone wants 1 or more of those, you might want to jump on them at that price, especially with Free S/H!

Yes, this is why (I presume) some places that sold nicotine base and flavorings have changed their name to something non-vape related, stopped selling anything with nicotine in it and only sell "flavors". If a place like "central vapors" sells flavoring then it can and will be regulated as a "tobacco product". But if "Jackie's Flavors" sells flavors and they don't mention vape or market to vapers in any way, the FDA will have a hard time convincing a court that Jackie is selling vaping flavors to DIY vapers.

It's all a big mess and anything can happen.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Am I gonna have to cheese it every time I see a cop when I am out and about with my no-no open system mod?
Nah, just slink away quietly.:D

The FDA stuff is about sales and marketing of these products, not using them. That said, there are a number of local or statewide bans on vaping in some public places, depending on where you live. If you're in one of those areas, stay stealthy!

You're welcome. Glad you saved the $8.

3 orders from them in a month, huh? Bet you got some great deals, too. I've been bad and placed 3 from them within a week before. But, they were nice enough to combine 2 together, that I placed one day after another...to save me some $ on the S/H cost.

Indeed, I grabbed a few pod devices and salt nic juices for my wife as I'm still trying to get her to quit smoking and I grabbed a few liquids and a device for myself.

My understand is that if the bottle is close to full the small amount of air in the top won't contain enough oxygen to make a difference. I know some people top the bottle off with argon. Some vendors sell it freezer ready with argon on top.
I leave enough air space at the top of the bottle so I can mix the contents by shaking and turning which seems important if it's been sitting for years in the freezer. I don't think the extra oxygen in that small space matters for oxidation. Once it's absorbed that should be the end of it.

I'm noticing one of the nic vendors is offering 100mg pure nic in one liter bottles and 50 liter drums. Nicotine river I think.

#4). I think we are not going to have to worry too much about the FDA & vape issue... The COVD19 issue is causing everyone to question their financial motives & they need to concentrate their shrinking cred on getting some cures for anything fast tracked or else be replaced by an entirely dif new governing agency.

Get the 50 liter drum. You'll never run out, you can have great vaping parties and everyone will like you.

The FDA isn't our only problem. I tried to purchase a drop solo this morning from alibaba and was told that this device cannot be shipped to my country.

It's been that way since Oct 2019. Alibaba decided it was a good idea to stay on the FDA's good side and restrict vape products to USA. It's fine with me as I hate using Alibaba and AliExpress. I hate marketplace shopping in general but chinese market places allow spammy product titles and it makes it hard to know exactly what I am buying, so I never do. I also had a frustrating time trying to open up that Alipay account years ago so that pretty much seals the deal of me never buying from those sites.

The US placed restrictions on Alibaba and 3 other companies, that prevents them from shipping to/doing business with the US. It's because of human rights violations concerning the employees of those companies. That became effective quite a few months ago. It has nothing to do with vaping products specifically, nor the FDA.

ETA: I'll see if I can find the original info that was provided about it online and provide a link to it here. I had it bookmarked on another computer, but it went kaput in January, and I don't have it on this 1.

ETA2: I'm still trying to find the specific article I'd read Oct. 7, 2019 that was about the sanctions/restrictions against Alibaba and the others. I posted about it on Oct. 9th and again last November...when there was discussion about it, but I didn't link the article then. There are many results in Google about the sanctions against them and others, but I want to find the exact article I'd read.

Alibaba then came out with its own info on stopping sales of vape products to the US on Oct. 9th...per the link in the next post. Seemed a good way to try to save face, apparently! The US had already restricted them from selling products to the US 2 days earlier.
