UPDATE: 1.1 Cubic Mini-Freezer

Here is a picture of the Freezer with the plastic shoe box removed and the 15 bottles re-organized . . . Bottom shelf holds 10 8oz Bottles the other 5 8oz bottles on the top shelf . . . Leaving enough room for approximately an additional 15 8oz bottles with the door closed tight . . . Just Sayin' . . .

I'm curious about your results. I don't stockpile batteries, but whatever batteries I have at home are always at room temp.

I didn't intentionally stockpile them either. But I bought more than I needed and noticed the original ones I bought (which I had planned to retire when they got to two years old) were still running well. Several years later, they were still doing well, so I decided to find out what's really going on, and what the optimal way to store them is if/when I do decide stockpiling is something I should do.

Yep, I'm aware of their articles. Notice the chart on that page is labelled, "Estimated recoverable capacity when storing a battery for one year". They can estimate all they want. I'm doing actual testing.

- Reply says that other parts of mods fail before the built-in batteries do. Firing buttons stop working, battery compartments break, leaked e-liquid kills the mod, etc. so built-in batteries will outlast the rest of the mod.

I use mechanical squonkers. You could take one and soak it in a bucket of e-liquid, rinse and dry it, and it would work just fine. The mod I'm vaping right is coming up on 5 years as my EDC/ADV device in a few more days.

A stockpiled mod in storage is unlikely to break or otherwise stop working, but if it has an in-built battery, that battery will degrade over time, even if it's not used. I' suspect that such degradation is likely to be less than most people think, but it still happens, and it might not be a linear function, I really don't know.

Personally, I would only stockpile mods that have readily replaceable batteries. That doesn't necessarily mean 18650 or 21700 cells. I know people who have mods that run off readily available 3S LiPo packs. Of course they built those mods, so they can replace the batteries.

That is the one I am probably going to end up getting, but @Fidola13 was needing to store 7 liters. I don't know if you can squeeze that many liters into a 1.1 cu ft freezer. If you can, awesome.

that would be a sweet deal even if I have to keep a couple liters in the regular freezer.

Bingo. And there's math involved. I was so happy to retire my online Ohm's Law calculator, constantly checking the resistance of my coils, etc. And the new regulated mods go safely up to 200 watts--should anyone need it. So I really see no purpose for mechs other than the vapocalypse or just as a hobby--and I totally understand people who love their Reos and Caravelas.

Still not doing it though. I'd rather buy more regulated mods and hope they do well in storage. Probably the kind with replaceable batteries, come to think of it. Batteries do age.

People are still using them? I remember a lot of complaints, but it was a long time ago. And since I decided not to get a mech, I stopped paying attention. But it certainly is a way to make a mech safer. But then again, we're back to microelectronics. We can't win, Uncle!

People talk about recharging cycles. The 18650's we use will lose capacity with each cycle. I forget the numbers, after a certain number of cycles they will reach the point where they should be replaced. Built in batteries are normally a different type of chemistry. I've never seen numbers on charging cycles for them. I know my ancient iStick has been through way more charges than any 18650 I ever had and it's still going strong.

Agree. On the other hand, my not-so-old Sonicare toothbrush died recently and I had to buy a new one. It was just a couple of days past their warranty. And yes, I used it twice a day, sometimes three times, but only for the recommended 2 min at a time.

I won't laugh because there's nothing funny about a malfunctioning mech. And you literally put this thing in your mouth. The only thing you can do, if you get an early warning, is to distance yourself from the device--as far and as quickly as you possibly can.

Well @Uncle is 2, I'm 3 (most are Boge + others, 100+ boxes), and I know of at least 1 other ECF member who has even more. There are people who pop in to ECF every now and then who are still looking for them, too! Have you checked the price of them now? Whoa!

Ahem. I don't stockpile. Never did. But I have enough already to last me a long time--after 10 years of vaping and buying new toys as they improved and became more efficient and oh so user friendly. Had I started stockpiling in 2010, as I was strongly advised to do then, I'd be forever vaping my 180mAh cigalike batteries with burning cartomizers on top. I actually do know someone who still has 50 or 100 boxes of Boge cartos.


I have enough nicotine in my freezer, I may add another liter soon. I have a list of a few things I want to buy before the September PMTA deadline--a few mods that I know I like, more coils for my Zlides. A few new RTAs. That's it.

As for the other thread? The few people who posted there are all very well stocked, believe me.

I still love and use cartos! Just wish I could buy them for my tanks!

Yes, the Kick puts one back into micro-electronics, but not an integral part of the mod. But a nice way to, in the event all one's regulated mods have died, to still have a regulated (low power, 12 watt max) vape, and at least a partial safety net

Sorry, I run my Joyetch mods as they are. I use them mostly in power mode, anyway. I know that AF is very popular, but it's a Russian firmware, so who knows. I'll pass.

Do you mean for your carto tanks? Or you mean you wish they made cartos for regular MTL or DL tanks...in addition to drop-in coils for them?

I did struggle in the early days of mechs and kicks in building the coil to work with the limitations of the kick. I didnt think kicks were available anymore.
