I can't really comment on that in a general way. So much depends on the specific design of the mod. Does the failure result in an Open Circuit? A short? An Auto-Fire? Obviously a short is the worst of these.

But I can tell is that I'm quite comfortable with the squnokers I use. Note however that I don't do really low builds. My most demanding is 0.5 ohms (dual 1.0), and my ADV is a single 0.75.

You and I build pretty much identically LOL

My old Silver Bullet is a semi mech. It does have wiring but no chips that I know of. It also runs with a collapsible heat spring. I am fairly comfortable with that one as well.

OKAY - Someone tell me more about this collapsible heat spring . . . I have a "Bolt" that looks like the silver bullet and is also a semi-mech . . . It has a spring base that uses a flat-top battery (either 18650/18350 has an extender) . . . I was using it regularly w/ a 2cent (instead of the Kick) and all of a sudden it just stop working and I cannot figure out why . . . Could it be this heat spring thing? And if so - What can I do ? I really do like this mod, especially since it was the first I won at a local vape meet and use beside a KR808 years ago . . .

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
IMHO, there's only one safe way to store a mech (short or long term) - sans battery.
I have a Kick sitting around somewhere. I got a Kick 2 as well. That goes up to 15W. I tried them out when I got them but there didn't seem to be much point.

I never did buy a kick because I don't think any of my mechs will accommodate one. But I did buy a couple Dovpo Safe Links this past holiday for shts and giggles. Not very desirable because it screws into your 510 then you screw the atty onto the safe link, so it adds quite a but of height to your setup.

It won't let you fire if you have a short in your coil, but of course that's assuming it's actually working properly when the short occurs. lol Also, it won;t detect or protect you from a shorted battery, just a shorted coil.

I STILL need to buy a mini freezer for my 7 liters of nic. I have no room left in my freezer. I guess I missed the July 4th holiday.

doesn’t mass have a tax free day in August at some point. Needs to be on the cheaper side because I have zero dollars coming in without a roomy. And they have to deliver because I’m not well enough to attempt to carry it down the stairs especially since I can only do one step at a time while holding onto a railing lol! My I’ve gotten old in such a short time.

so if anyone sees a mini freezer for sale please let me know. I’m in the Boston area. I was told top lids held more because of some reason lol!!
Top lids hold the cold better. Open a front swinger and the cold pours out.

If that spring has collapsed to the point the battery can NEVER make contact then it MIGHT have a heat spring that has been sprung so to speak. No way to know if it actually IS a heat spring without finding out from the manufacturer or collapsing one. REO told you it has one. So did Silver Bullet. Provari has a spring but I do not remember if it is a heat spring or not. I am thinking not but I could be wrong. Also it is possible you somehow triggered the 2cent and that is what fried out. So maybe try it without the 2cent.

A heat spring is a spring that is made from a material designed to instantly collapse if it passes the designed threshold for heat. That physically breaks the connection between the device and the battery by making it impossible for both terminals of the battery to make contact simultaneously. Battery will be rattling around loose in the mod after the collapse.

I had a knockoff bolt a long time ago. The wiring fried on mine the first time I fired it. Distinctive smell of burnt wire. Fasttech gave me credit for it and I sent it back to them and never bothered again.

12w was low and must admit it was a faff getting extension tubes to house the kick. Used to use one in my old Nemesis. I did end up taking the kick out in the end to play around with different coils.

Knowing I might want to use a Kick, all the mechs I stashed are adjustable, so don't need the extension tubes ;)

For me, it's the ability to stay "regulated" if I ever need to fall back to the mechs, along with a layer of protection that's otherwise not there. Normally vape around 8.5 watts, so the Kick, either version, works for what I want. And yes, I can build a coil that will draw that, er, close to that across the battery voltage, but if I don't have to be that precise, why :)

Unfortunately most mini freezers that I have seen do not have top lids.

I agree. After quite a bit of searching...it seems that a 3.5 cu. ft. one is the smallest chest freezer made. That's the size they call "Mini" in chest freezers. Haven't found any smaller than that.

    Somewhere between here and there
It's out of stock now but this is the one I bought and picked up at Walmart. I've got about 9.5 liters of nic on top with plenty more room and keep my snus in the basket on the bottom in Freezer bags. Not to mention it's a nice flat work surface to set my scale on for mixing. I don't open it very often since I grab several cans of snus or plenty of nic each time. It barely has any frost built up in over a year.

    @Myrany . . .

Thank You for the reply - Very Informative & Helpful . . . Nope - Given the information, the problem is not a Heat Spring - Dam and I was hoping it would be something that easy to fix . . . Anyway, moving along, again THANKS ! ! !

As you probably know, you can get a Bolt for under 6 bucks.
