I use a gizmo/adapter (don't ask me what it's called) that just sits there screwed onto my istick permanently. The tank is being screwed into the gizmo. Mine is almost 7 years old and still kicking. Not very hard, but kicking nonetheless.

I used one of those on my 30 and it worked for a while. But in the end even that wouldn't hold.

I was very surprised to see how much the isticks cost now too! I always thought of them as throw aways, that internal battery mentality from the early days I guess. I still have a istick mini 2015 NIB and an original itaste mpv 2013 too that I checked the other day that power on just fine along with several stick batteries 2011- 2013 I randomly check that work fine and I still dislike internal battery mods.

If you take pod systems into consideration, internal batt ecigs still dominate the market, and that's not even taking into consideration disposables.

I would guess that most vapers are not interested in dealing with liion batteries. There was a time that I didn't want to. Everyone saying how dangerous they are (and they are) made me shy away. Didn't take long for me to come to my senses, though. Well, maybe about 2 years lol

I went over to replaceable batteries within a month or 2 of starting vaping....still have the vamo to prove it. Now if I could just get it to fully unscrew like it should it would be wonderful. one of the segments has pretty much fused itself to another part. Still usable just limited battery size range ie only 18650. LOL

Makes sense I never thought about it that way. My first Provari snapped me out of internal battery mods. Then came the Vapage Vmods and tube mech mods, more Provaris and chasing the latest .... But I was so immersed in the ecig community at one time it helped me forward. I sometimes forget the vast majority of vapers buy and use ecigs keeping it as simple as possible. I remember being very happy with cigalikes and then stick batteries with clearos when I first started vaping. Heck I still have 100s of boxes of cartos too lol!

VV Egos with Evods are what finally got me off of cigarettes completely.
At least back then the internal batt devices had 510 so I could take whatever I was using and put them on an 18650mods. People that start on pods today, not so much. Gotta get a new tank with new coil and hope you like it. Or just stick with that do system and how you can buy the mods and coils for it for a while. lol not funny. Actually sickening IMHO.

I thought I read that the 30 had an aluminium 510. It's quite possible that what I read was wrong, or I misremembered it.
It wasn't stripped threads I had exactly. It seemed like the 510 socket was becoming wider.

I used one of those on my 30 and it worked for a while. But in the end even that wouldn't hold.

So I went back in time. ;) Mystery solved. iStick 20 had soft threads and generally wobbly 510 connection--lots of complaints all over ECF. iSticks 30s were fine.

Eleaf iStick : part 2

Now thanks to this thread, I found my very old iStick 20 with the airflow controller still in place. Works like a charm. Zombie iSticks?

iSticks and MVPs are either indestructible or possessed. They never die...

I have a 20 in my desk yet. Had bought the AF controller and used only the bottom part because bad threads and it has that area around it to catch leaks.

Just bought the 80t version with big batt and usb-c. Really fast charging!

My 20 and 40 still work fine, wonder why we shelve things b4 their time??

Four years later, this thread is still going, lol. I am making some final orders this weekend for mods and coils. I bought enough nic and tanks when this thread was young to last more than my lifetime. Want a couple of good RDAs, too, since I still miss my 510 atomizers terribly.

edited: Just went thru my Vapegeddon stash. Have quite a few drippers. Couple of Ammits and various clones. It's all coming back to me now...

I still have quite a few NIB MVP mods (various versions, W, etc.). Any I've taken out to give to people and/or to use as power banks have worked as they should and hold a charge very well...no problem. Also have had quite a few iSticks still NIB (6 or 7 10W, 3 20W, 4-5 30W, maybe 4 40W, and 3 50W). Just bought 5 more 20W on sale 2 months ago. Checked each one = work fine.

If anyone has 20W iSticks with threads that won't hold a tank tightly any more...but still has some threading and will still take and hold a charge: cut a 5-7mm long, 3-4mm wide, rectangular strip of a business, index, or greeting card. Bend it into a curved shape and line the inside of the 510 connection with it. Works like a charm at holding the tank tightly.

Today's vape mail: Another charger, a volt/ohm meter, some battery cases, and tiny coil brushes. I'm pretty much down to accessories and consumables now. However good deals on hardware will always be hard to resist. I'm waiting for those $300 mechanical mods to go on sale, but it would take a lot of luck to snag one of them.

I don't know if you were referencing particular mechanical mods or not, but....

You might want to check here to see if anything interests you. I sorted them Low to High price, to see if anything interested me. But you'll find plenty of the higher priced things on pages 3 & 4.

I might have to stock up on some more plastic totes. If I'm storing vape stuff in them, aren't the totes considered a tobacco product?
No, I think the FDA would consider them an "accessory", and thus not subject PMTA or other regulatory nonsense.
