@Enoch777 I agree having a rebuildables in your stash is a great idea! There are so many instructional videos and knowledge people to help you learn. I dread the day that I am unable to rebuild anymore because of physical limitations. Super stocking on your favorite drop in coils is great idea too. I certainly did. :) Backups for backups.

Learning to build your own coils is super important, it's half the equation (nearly)! The other half being liquid. If we can make our own of each they can't stop us.

I do understand reservations about rebuilding Nautilus coils even with the RDTA kit. I've re-built Protank heads and I know others have rebuilt Nautilus coils for years. It's not a particularly fun experience. Other RDTAs are less fiddly than rebuilding drop ins but still have their drawbacks especially for a first timer.

But I would still urge you and everyone else who hasn't yet - invest in an RDA. Something like the Dead Rabbit: Dead Rabbit 24mm RDA - HellVape & Heathen

That's where rebuilding really shines. RDAs and Squonkers. They are larger, you have a lot more room to work in, and well - they're designed for it! The simplicity of the system makes it a more user friendly experience.

You have: Coil, Deck, Posts (or Post Holes). It's as simple as figuring out how to wrap the coils and getting them snug into the posts.

Plus you have all the help and information here on ECF to take your time learning how to do it even if you don't plan on doing it right away. Having the option - that's the takeaway. I spend about $1 a year on coils because I wrap my own kanthal. Just consider that, as well as the fact that in the future wrapping your own coils is likely to be the only option available. We all know how random & spotty B&M inventory is.

Note: Meaning no disrespect to anyone who loves their drop in systems. Just advocating
independence :D
The Prime X has RBA and rdta that are easy to build. :) I have plenty of RBAs in the stash.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
it's not so much the coil building that sounds so frustrating but the wicking

Yes, wicking is the part that requires more attention and may need trial and error before you get it right. And what wicking technique works for one rebuildable may not work for another. That's just the way it is. But it's the cheapest way to vape. Save the factory coils for those times when using rebuildables just isn't convenient or possible.

HOWEVER - if you don't like the idea of wicking fussy RTAs, then you may want to consider squonking. Squonking is just like dripping (you use an RDA) but the coil/wick is fed from the bottom, not by dripping from the top. RDAs don't require special/exact wicking since you don;t have to worry about pressure/feeding issues like you do in an RTA tank.

I've been making my own juice since the beginning (even though it's reaaaaallly bad juice lol. Just one mint flavoring. I do it because of the cost. Ok, so it's not so much the coil building that sounds so frustrating but the wicking. Right now I haven't stocked up on anything but maybe I have a year or 2 of nicotine coming. I need to figure out what to do & now.

Totally understandable. This video I recommend is old. Some of the information may be outdated and/or unnecessary. But I still like the video because it gives you a general sense of what you're doing when wrapping, installing, priming, wicking, and setting up some fresh new coils on your device of choice. Definitely give it a watch if you're interested in learning more and feel free to PM me or ask questions here on the forums if you need help in that regard.

I like to fill a big tank & go. I think I'd rather learn once with wicking rather than mess with dripping.

Squonking is as convenient as an RTA. You fill a bottle on the mod that every once in a while you have to give a squeeze, other than that it's the same. It's portable, no separate drip bottle to carry around. It's easy, the builds are less finicky about leaking.

    Today from Black Note (excerpted):
    • No More USPS: We plan to offer USPS as a carrier until it is no longer legal to do so.
    • Alternative Carrier Network: Starting April 1, 2021, we will use alternative shipping and carrier networks to deliver your orders.
    • Limited Coverage: The new network currently delivers to zip codes covering roughly 70% of the United States population. Though they are working on expanding their coverage, there is no timeline nor guarantee of expanded coverage.
    • Additional Cost: PACT Act requires EVERY single delivery to be signed by an adult who must prove their age with a government ID. This adds a great deal to the cost associated with every delivery.
    • Slower delivery: The new network will take significantly longer to deliver your orders.
We will be announcing our shipping options, costs, and coverage as soon as we have a clear picture, but tentatively, it will cost us more than $17 to ship packages that weigh less than one pound.

Yes, more then kinda strange, especially to disrespect"you" like that, but then again they were spamming everyone . . . BTW: Although I am a GAY Man - I was just as surprised to get that PM on ECF too, especially from someone who just signed up as a member and probably never read a post of mine . . . The great part is that ECF Administration (probably the lovey @classwife  ) was on top of everything and deleted their post and the PM's everyone got . . .

    .

He got killed while I was at work - I don't know if the PMs were killed or not...so just POOF them if you got one.

....I didn't get one, but it seems he was a busy PMer !

Building your own Coils really Isn't that Bad.

For 1st Time Builders, I would suggest using Muji Pad Cotton.

    Like this...

    https://www.amazon.com/MUJI-Cut-Cot...eywords=muji+pad+cotton&qid=1615590241&sr=8-3

    Or this...

180 Pcs Organic Japanese Pads Makeup Unbleached Soft Cut Cotton Facial 60X50 Mm 4549337318885 | eBay

Pad Cotton makes it Dead Simple to Cut the amount that you need. Just cut a Strip about a 1/4 Wide. De-Skin it, Twirl on End, Stick it thru the Coil, and the Trim the Ends.

I'm tell'n ya, after you do about 3 Coils you'll have the rhythm down. And wonder Why you thought this would be frustrating?

I think at this point, if you're new to RTAs, it's kinda tough to learn everything before you make a well-informed, perfect RTA purchase. That luxury is long gone. Finding the right gear often takes people time and going through a few.

    If you...
    • are a new stocker at this late stage
    • are new to RTAs
    • think you may want to rebuild at some point on a tank and
    • are an MTL vaper
I suggest you buy a couple three Innokin Areas 2 (or Ares 2 LE same exact tank, different look) if you can find them and learn later.

Some say it's capable of restricted DL on it's most open settings, but I don't think so. Too tight for me anyhow. It is a true MTL RTA that goes from tight MTL to loose MTL. Not hard to build or wick and very good quality for mainstream gear (as most innokin gear is)

Cotton and wire can be bought from non-vape retailer at any time. They are non-vaping supplies.

    JMHO.

Here's an in-depth video made by one of the designers.

    Somewhere between here and there
lol. Yeah. Turns out innokin ran out of the brown Sensis, so now I have to wait 3-4 weeks until they're back in stock. I asked Timmy if they'd still be able to ship then. He didn't reply :(

Well that’s not good. I won one also and requested the brown. I guess that’s why the tracking never moved for a week.
